The log is going to be broken up between the following Event 'points' just to manage them easier:

Pre-Possession Power-Up (Mingle for those powering up Wan before his group heads to the Turtle's Head)
Pre-Distraction Meet-Up (Mingle for the distraction teams to finalize tactics or throw caution to the wind)
Possession Attempt (The actual possession attempt)
Distraction Group One (Headed up by Dante, this group is going to be dealing with the cultists directly)

ANYONE can tag in and take part in any of the threads except the Possession Attempt itself - that's closed to Wan, Valdis, Zuko, and Katara so the group is small and less easily noticed.

Possession Attempt - Closed to Wan, Valdis, Zuko, and Katara

[Keeping the group small was a risk, but it was better than drawing Malicant's attention to them before they had a chance to pull this off. Wan, already in the Avatar State as a way to hold onto the power that others had lent him, led the way through the portal and to the Turtle's Head.

Once through, he spoke briefly, in a voice that echoed itself - one male and one female.]

We'll have to fly to cross the gap between the shell and the head. I will take Valdis there. Zuko, Katara, you should protect us at the shell's edge.

[Valdis dipped her head to Wan/Raava in agreement, but turned to Zuko and Katara to address them.]

While using the void, time will slow for Wan and myself. Seconds for you will seem like minutes to us. My body will continue defend itself, but I myself will be absent. If I am dealt a deep wound during that time, I will be pulled back whether we are done or not. It is vital that you two protect our bodies with everything you have.

[she didn't like asking them to possibly sacrifice their lives, but defeating Malicant was why they were here, and so it needed to be done.]

[Zuko is determined to help as best he can. While not quite back to where he was before the poison, he's still able to fight should it come down to that. Hopefully they can finally put an end to Malicant and get this over with. Yet he knows what kind of danger Wan is putting himself into.

Thus he's been very quiet most of the time today. Generally only speaking when spoken to and then only minimally. There is a respectful but melancholy silence as he listens to the instructions. Just a single affirming nod is given to show that he understands, to both Wan and Valdis.]

Katara, much like Zuko, is silent as they are given instructions, her attention never straying from the small group. She nods once, her hand absently going to the two waterskins hanging at her hip, one full of the spirit water Wan had provided, the other at the ready to defend. The location itself will lend toward a little comfort as well; she'll have the entire ocean at her disposal.

Her nerves pulse as she nods, just as they had before their group had split back home, Aang to the fire lord, she and Zuko to Azula, and her brother and the others in distraction. The day is reminiscent... And she can only hope it'll go as well as those from her future assured her their war at home will end.

[Wan had no reason to speak after that. Not out loud. He sent a quick burst of love to Rio'era, but did his best to cut her off from his mind after that. Being in the Avatar State helped with that.

Once they were close enough to the shell's edge, a cloud formed under Wan and he extended it outward so it was large enough for Valdis to ride if she squeezed close.]

[Trusting her well-being to two children wasn't easy for the former queen, but she would have to put her faith in them and push away all worry and doubt.

She followed Wan to the edge of the shell and stepped onto the cloud, pressing her large hound body as close to him as possible. Heights didn't bother her, but it was a cloud and clouds generally didn't hold things as large as herself.]

[Zuko watches as they go, his jaw tightening for a moment and then settling in a stubborn frown. He would have to believe they knew what they were doing and trust them to do just that. He looked over at Katara, studying her then scanned the area around them. He would have to stay alert if he was to help protect their bodies while the attempt was made. All that there was to do now was wait.]

[Katara watches until they're out of sight, then risks a glance at Zuko once Wan is gone. Catching his eyes on her, she immediately looks away, her expression troubled, and takes a deep, Settling breath as he studies her. She's anxious, but ready for whatever this battle brings them. While nervous, her mind is set on the mission. Responsibility for three. She can handle that.]

Group Split - Zuko and Katara vs ???

[As Wan and Valdis landed on the Turtle's head, a good half mile from them, the area that Zuko and Katara stood took on an eerie silence. More unsettling than it usually was following the death of Evandau.]

[As they waited, Zuko started to grow more restless. His brows furrowed and a deep frown seeming to have permanently settled on his face.]

I don't like this. It's too quiet.

[oceanblue]

[Katara tried to stay neutral, hovering toward the edge of the shell to keep the waters within her sight, fighting to keep her hands free so she could be ready at any moment. Zuko's comment drew her attention toward him, and she let her eyes sweep around them in survey of their location.]

It's...eerie... [she agreed, releasing the deep breath she had taken to loosen her nerves.]

[[Behind the two of them, on the Turtle's Head, both Wan and Valdis disappeared.

In front of them, over the vast expanse of the visible shell, the world remained still and silent. As if in wait.]]

[Zuko looked up just in time to see Wan and Valdis vanish. So much for guarding their bodies, but they would have to come back at some point. ... Or so he hoped. There was worry in his eyes, though he tried to hide it.

Folding his arms, he looked over at Katara as they waited.]

Yeah.

[Words were failing him right now.]

[oceanblue]

[Katara, too, turned her gaze to the turtle's head just in time to see the others disappear. She then switched her worried gaze, back to Zuko, gauging his reaction.]

...Zuko...

[A deep breath as she convinced herself.]

...they're going to be okay.

[lordhotman]

[Zuko's jaw tightened a little at Katara's words.]

You don't know that.

[oceanblue]

[She paused. He had a point, and it only stirred more anxiety in her stomach. Already tense, she frowned, then moved closer to him.]

If I have anything to do with it, they will be. You trust Wan, right? And Valdis? They can take care of themselves...Wan is the avatar and Valdis is... Well, she's Valdis.

[A pause before she actually lifted her eyes to him, standing at his side, blue filled with every ounce of confidence she had in her as she reached for his shoulder.]

Do you trust me?

Group Split - Wan and Valdis vs Malicant

[The cloud held them both and took them the relatively short distance between the edge of the shell and the top of the Turtle's head. It was, of course still a fairly sizable area, at least a quarter mile, and gave them plenty of room to move. Should they need to.

He set them down and dispelled the cloud. Then he put a hand on Valdis' shoulder and leaned into her. It was as close to a hug as he felt he could give her right then. It was also the signal that he was ready for her to take him - body and soul - into Asti.]

Re: Group Split - Wan and Valdis vs Malicant

[They landed and Valdis opened her eyes to see the head of the turtle under her paws. Wan leaned into her and she knew that there was no going back. Her eyes blazed red as she called upon the void and allowed it to consume her. Time slowed and she entered the soul plane.

She sought out his touch, feeling where his soul flowed and followed it. Raava was bright, and in this place, Valdis could more clearly see Wan's bond with the light spirit and how strong it was. She knew they would need that strength.

The tendrils of the void reached out, grabbing hold of Wan's soul and trying to pull it, no, tear it from his body. Valdis didn't know if it would be painful, she had never thought about it before, but she hoped that it wasn't.]

[raavashing]

[The tendrils of the void reached out and Wan could feel them trying to rip his soul away from his body. But Raava's power flared and the influence of her spirit made itself known as his body became as intangible as his spirit in the material plane - and so intertwined with his soul on the spiritual one that they were one and the same. The void took hold of his soul and his body disappeared from the material plane as he allowed himself to be enveloped by Valdis' power.]

[She was unaware that Wan had vanished from the physical plane, so lost in void that she had to recall her purpose. Instead of giving over Wan/Raava to the depths of void, she pulled back the power. It fought back, trying to seize the spirit, angered that the offer had been taken back.]

Hurry, [She said, her voice strained as she continued to fight the darkness.] Find the barrier protecting my soul and cross it, you will be safe there.

[The void was unfamiliar. It held a place in the spiritual plane that was unknown to Raava. Alien to even her vast knowledge of the spirits and the way of the world. Their world. This was not something she should have any reason to know.

But even the darkness of the void had to yield to purifying light. As it was pulled back, the light of their soul shone out, seeking Valdis. She had light within her as well. It was that beacon they sought across the uncertain planes.]

Let your light shine for us

[They called out, their senses searching for Valdis and the source her voice echoed from.]

[She was confused by their request. She didn't know what light Raava had seen when they had last met, how could she make it shine? The darkness laughed, telling her it was impossible, because no such light existed.]

[But Raava would not have lied to her, there had to be light somewhere. If she believed it enough, then perhaps it would appear. She felt a slight warmth and the shadows threatening Wan/Raava began to retreat. He light was weak, but she had to hope that it would be enough]

[Their attention snapped to the source of light as soon as it blossomed. They launched themself, power flaring, toward Valis. Her voice, her light, her soul an invitation for them to enter. And enter they did, crossing the boundary and combining their energy with hers in the way of her world. Were this their world and were they possessing her, Valdis's body would surely be glowing white and be marked with blue lines as she grew several sizes.

Wan thought that perhaps they should try it. But the idea was shelved for now. They had something more important to attend to.]

[She felt them merge with her soul and the light became so strong that the darkness shrieked and retreated from her. It felt strange to share her soul's space with two others, but they were safe from the void and that was all that mattered.

She knew they didn't have much time, so she didn't bother moving back into the physical plane. Valdis could already feel the great turtle beneath her paws, feel the endless, vast energy that was Tu Vishan. And she hesitated]

Are you certain about this?

[raavashing]

Yes

[There was no heistation from their joined soul. Their determination had not wavered in any of the moments between being given the extra power from the others and this very moment. This was something that had to be done and they would not back down.]
