EVENT | LANDFALL | EVIDET

Characters: ALL!
Date: January 28th to February 11th
Location: Evidet
Situation: Tu Vishan has washed up near the coastal city of Khatronma.
Warnings/Rating: Add warnings as needed.

The suddenness of the looming cliffs takes even the kedan by surprise, in spite of a number of them trying to plot their course with as much knowledge of the ocean’s currents as they already had. Tu Vishan makes landfall without any of the grace shown in previous times, bumping into the cliffs before finally coming to rest on the reef and rocks at the low tide around Khatronma.

Most of Khatronma's shores consist of steep iced cliffs, and once it becomes clear there is no threat, the residents of Khatronma oblige by establishing scaffolding across from the walls of their city to the turtle’s back. A customs area is quickly set apart, and the residents of Keeliai welcomed -- with some slight confusion. The Khatronmans are just as surprised by the unexpected docking as the kedan.

He didn't understand and she wasn't sure how to explain in order to make him understand. It was true that she wasn't the same person who had arrived in Keeliai so long ago, but had she really changed so much that someone could call her 'kind'?

And, there he was again, making her heart flutter and her emotions rise. Raine had been right, there was no denying it, no matter how much she wanted to.

"I lied," She said quietly, not meeting his eyes, "About what happened in the Dreaming."

Dante is surrounded by woman far more shrewd than Valdis, so calling her kind wasn't a stretch. Besides, she had been changing just as Dante had gotten to know her. And here she was, showing him just how little he knew about her.

"You know what?" Dante stepped down from the heap. "I decided a long time ago that it didn't matter if that really happened. If you wanted to act like it never happened, you could, and you did. But it wouldn't have changed what I realized that day."

Just remember Valdis, you were the one who changed the subject.

"You're fierce, but you can be sweet sometimes. I can't explain, except you have a fire I haven't seen in a long time, and I never expected to see again." He kept a confident face, but he fiddled with his amulet.

Inside, she was terrified. Her heart was racing and she wanted nothing more than to run away, but she would not give fear the satisfaction, not even when he stepped down from the pile in which he had found his mother's necklace and into her space. He looked confident, but then again, she was good at hiding her feelings behind falsities, and it was possible that he was simply doing the same.

She looked up into his eyes, "What do you mean?" Her tone was even and emotionless, but damn it, she felt everything except calm.

Dante was afraid, but he likes challenges too much to back down. He's enjoying the thrill, and he's getting to the bottom of this.

"I don't know yet. Some folks would call this love, but I'm not so sure. This is usually the part where I get slapped in the face, so your guess is as good as mine." That's a... directish confession? He's saying what's on his mind, so it must be honest.

She was still terrified. Not of his words, they made her heart skip, and not of his closeness, but of what it all meant. She looked at him a moment longer and then slowly reached for his hand as she rose onto her toes to kiss him.

Well, here comes the rejection. Too bad there's no such thing as ice cream or trashy soap operas on the shell, he'd need it to get over this rejection which just... didn't... happen.

Okay. He can roll with this. He dramatically leans over to kiss Valdis back. Just like those dancers she likes, he thought to himself. Perhaps it was a bit grand and overly dramatic, but that was just how he did things, and if she didn't like it, then this can be her fair warning.

She broke off the kiss as he tried, unsuccessfully, to dip her.

"Oh, my god," She hissed, pushing him away and righting herself, "You are going to drop me if you try it like that."

She grabbed his hand and placed it on the correct spot on her back, "You need to support me here." Then she rose up to kiss him again, paused for a moment and pulled him further away from the cliff's edge before kissing him again.

"Well sorry, this is kind of a spur of the moment thing, okay?" Okay, that was a bit dumb to try, but come on, they weren't close enough to the cliff for him to drop her off of it. Still, he followed her instructions, and then tried to dip her again, correctly this time. You don't get as good at ducking and weaving around your enemies without being at least graceful enough to get a move like this right after being properly taught.

"Are you going to complain or are you going to kiss me back," She replied as he successfully dipped her. His hands were strong and she knew, just as Raine had said she would, that he wouldn't drop her.

"Well, let's see..." He feigned thinking, before kissing her again. Deep down, he's actually kind of amazed. Is this really happening? Huh. And here he thought he had horrible luck with woman.

oh, were you having a moment? NOT ANYMORE

Tony had made a beeline for the scrapyards as soon as they'd arrived. He'd somehow convinced Gene to tag along with him, too (which possibly had more to do with a desire to keep Tony out of trouble than any interest in salvaging scrap).

He's been poking around for a while, gathering up a small armful of miscellaneous junk, and taking note of some larger pieces that he might want to come back for with his suit. It's like junkyard Christmas, and it's put Tony in a cheerful mood.

Which is good for Tony, but maybe not so good for Dante and Valdis, because when Tony's in a good mood, he tends to get up to all sorts of really, really annoying mischief.

Tony spots Dante near the edge of the cliffs, but he doesn't call out a greeting because Dante is talking with Valdis, who is not on Tony's Favorite People list right now. He goes back to scanning the ground for useful scrap for a few seconds, so it's only out of the corner of his eye that he sees Valdis lean in— and kiss Dante.

Wow, what?

But he's not hallucinating: as he watches, Valdis lectures Dante about proper dipping technique, and then they kiss, again.

Valdis and Dante. Okay. He never saw that coming.

Suddenly, his face splits in a definitely evil grin. My, what a nice romantic moment you're having, there, Dante. Sure would be a shame if something were to... happen to it.

Loud enough to carry across the dozen or so meters separating them, Tony calls out, "is now a bad time to tell you that your fly is down?"

That's what you get for breaking into somebody's house and interrupting them with their boyfriend, Dante. You get to be the recipient of some long-overdue payback.

SUCK IT, NERDS

Gene has, somehow, been coerced into joining Tony on his scrapyard run. (Although maybe he's looking for the components for a cattle prod. Hey, wrangling Foreigners is hard work.)

So he's been scouring when he notices Tony stop moving next to him, and he looks up, and then follows Tony's gaze to see just what's enraptured him so (probably something with a lot of engineering words).

Imagine his surprise - just imagine it - when he sees Dante and Valdis, sitting in a tree, kay eye ess ess eye en gee. Or, well, not in a tree, but the sentiment is close enough.

Tony's grin has a bit of the sadistic about it, and Gene immediately stoops to the ground, packing a few snowballs with the ground cover.

As Tony calls out, Gene wings one of the snowballs at Dante (he's got no beef with Valdis), and the rest follow, given a bit of a boost by a sudden prevailing wind. Yes! What a crazy random happenstance. It's certainly nothing to do with the glow of a white gem on one of his rings, no. Nothing whatsoever!

Okay, sure, he'd agreed to help Dante's brother. That didn't mean he'd absolved Dante of his horrible horrible cockblocking sin.

Thankfully for Valdis, Dante broke away to respond in Tony just in time to get pelted with a flurry of snowballs. Oh hell no, they did not just go there.

He wanted to retaliate, but oh right he was having a moment. Damn this whole 'adulthood' thing. That, and he's already on thin ice with one of the few people who could actually help his brother.

So, he decided to be the bigger man, and laughed his ass off at the two of them. He wasn't going to give in to their trolling by getting mad, then they'd just do it again.

Valdis moved aside as Dante broke off the kiss and stood in brief shock as the snowballs hit him. She expected him to yell at the two teens, but her eyes widened in surprise when he laughed. Anger would have been an obvious reaction, unhelpful yes, but still what she would have expected. She crossed her arms and raised a brow.

"What is this about?" She asked Dante quietly, not believing that Tony and Gene would attack him for no reason.
