Situation: Tu Vishan has washed up near the coastal city of Khatronma.

The suddenness of the looming cliffs takes even the kedan by surprise, in spite of a number of them trying to plot their course with as much knowledge of the ocean’s currents as they already had. Tu Vishan makes landfall without any of the grace shown in previous times, bumping into the cliffs before finally coming to rest on the reef and rocks at the low tide around Khatronma.

Most of Khatronma's shores consist of steep iced cliffs, and once it becomes clear there is no threat, the residents of Khatronma oblige by establishing scaffolding across from the walls of their city to the turtle’s back. A customs area is quickly set apart, and the residents of Keeliai welcomed -- with some slight confusion. The Khatronmans are just as surprised by the unexpected docking as the kedan.

Wan's kiss earned him a smile, Zuko's hand gripping his in return. The firebender's gaze then went back to Aya, giving a nod in agreement with Wan's words. He hadn't really gotten a good look either, so he couldn't tell her anymore than Wan had.

For a fleeting moment, Aya was hesitant.

...when they realized neither of us had any kind of training.

Ah, that would explain it.

"Perhaps they did not wish to risk the probability that you would negatively impact their experiment. Unintentionally, of course."

They seemed a little too better-than-thou for Wan to charitably think that about them. But it was possible Aya was right.

"You'll have a better chance of figuring that out than we do," he muttered, voice just a touch bitter. "Anyway, it's not on Tu Vishan's back. So we have to walk for a while. Unless you want me to fly us there. I can do that."

Zuko had also not liked their attitude, and it was the main reason he had spoken up. He wasn't about to let those researchers demean them like that.

"That would be faster," Zuko said, not exactly wanting to walk the entire way there.

Seeing the two boys were in agreement, Aya nodded before levitating herself in the air.

"Assistance will not be necessary. I am capable of flight on my own power."

"Then you can follow. Great!" Wan grinned at Aya and wrapped an arm around Zuko's waist to pull him in close as the other did a quick spin through the air to create a cloud beneath them. He waited only a moment to make sure Aya was ready to go, then launched himself and Zuko into the sky.

The trip still took a little time because once Wan was in the air, he had to get himself orientated to the mainland and then figure out where on the coast the secluded building was. It hadn't been easy to see on foot and he didn't expect that with how it had been hugged by cliffs it would be much easier to see from the air. But it also wasn't more than twenty minutes or so, regardless. With Tu Vishan sitting against the mainland, Wan didn't have to worry about flying close to his shell to avoid him swimming away below him.

He came in for a landing at the mouth of the inlet, figuring it would be less startling for the people there if they walked in rather than just land outside the door. Once everyone was on the ground, he pointed over to the building, reachable by a well-trod path along the cliffside over the water, "That's it. It sounds like they have the speaker off again. It's pretty easy to hear when it's on."

Zuko was getting pretty used to this, so he had no complaint or was surprised when Wan pulled him close and launched them into the air. When they landed, he paused to take a look around.

"Or maybe they're not here," he offered, also not hearing the sound.

Regardless, there was only one way to find out, and so he started walking towards the building.

The corners of Aya's lips turned downward. She did not touch on solid ground yet, but chose to hover around a little longer.

"Would they have reason to vacate the immediate area?"

[raavashing]

"I don't think so," Wan answered, leading the way. "They turned it off last time because of the strange sounds it was making."

Zuko just followed as they went to the building. He glanced at Aya and then to Wan, but otherwise had nothing to say. How could only wonder if they would be more hospitable this time.

She had few other questions at that point. It became apparent that anything further, the boys would not know.

Aya would have to see the site for herself. She would have to speak to the local scientists who had constructed both the experiment and the machine. With luck, they would allow her to scan its programming and determine whether or not it was compatible with her own systems.

...with luck, they would still be there.

[raavashing]

The researchers were, indeed, still there. They had been there for some time before Tu Vishan docked and weren't just going to give up because their equipment was having trouble for a little while. Their research was too promising to let go of. They were not, however, that pleased to see Wan and Zuko again.

Aya, on the other hand, was new and green interesting looking. The lead researcher completely ignored Wan and Zuko, pushing past the two of them to greet Aya. "Hello! Are you from the Great Turtle?" she asked, remembering that Wan and Zuko had promised to bring someone who knew about science stuff, but not really caring to acknowledge the two of them.

Well. That wasn't at all predictable.

Zuko just folded his arms with a scowl, watching as the head researcher pushed past him and Wan as if they didn't exist. Making a beeline for Aya. He said nothing and merely listened in.

Predictable, perhaps, which is why Aya did not initially give it much thought. She was there to speak with them, after all, and they'd already encountered both Wan and Zuko. It made sense that on this latest trip, they would come to her first.

"Yes. I am." In a manner of speaking. She politely nodded her head in greeting before indicating to the two boys. "Wan and Zuko were kind enough to inform me that my assistance may be required in a matter of technological importance? I would be pleased to help in any way possible."

"Wonderful! Come this way!" The researcher took Aya's arm in her own and led her over to the table, still ignoring Wan and Zuko. "This is what we've been working on..."
