A) Before the 5th, Keeliai's Markets: After acquiring the angelic sword, Revelations, Valdis has found herself in need of some supplies in order to make a sheath worthy of the blade. She has enough coin to obtain what she needs and it helps that the Kedan are currently trying to put on a good face for the Ambassadors. She is quickly evaluating the attitude of the store owners and either purchasing or moving on, aware that this window of niceties might be quite narrow.

B) Midnight Hotel: When she isn't out in the city or exploring the surrounding areas, Valdis can be found in the common area, reading up on the history of Keeliai or going over her extensive, hand-written notes on the current issues the foreigners are facing in the city. If one is lucky, they may catch her in the lobby of the hotel, or if someone is ambitious and unafraid, they may find her in her room, though if she is sleeping, wake her at your own risk

C) Before the 5th, Turtle's Head: The cold didn't bother her much and she sat near the turtles head, looking out over the water at Khatronma, marveling at the dome from a distance. Revelations is at her hip, glowing softly in the early morning light. The last time she had been here it had been to possess the turtle in an attempt to help Wan oust Malicant from the ancient entity. It had also been where she had used the Void to kill four of the cultists attacking her and her friends. So many memories and none of the peace that had once been attached to this place.

Valdis handed a few coins over to the shopkeeper, who in turn handed her a small satchel, before she turned to the woman with a smile. She had been aware of the woman's gaze and the scent was pleasantly familiar, not to mention the strange woman's beauty almost rivaled her own. She felt momentarily honored that the woman had deemed her worthy of her attention, but that feeling died and if she had been in hound form, her hackles would have risen. She said nothing, but continued to maintain the smile while she battled down whatever magic seemed to be in the air and when she finally spoke, the sound was light and even.

"I suppose you could say that."

"And I believe I just did," China said, amused. The other woman wasn't visibly either bothered or in love, but something about the way she reacted... hm. China tipped her head just a little as she turned to face Valdis properly, smiling a greeting as if she was completely unaware of any of the other dynamics involved. "Not even the time to spare for window shopping? Whatever you're about must be dreadfully important." Similarly light words, intended only to fill space, perhaps draw out what she could of the other woman.

This woman's presence grated on her for some reason. On one hand, she felt as if simply being acknowledged by the woman should be taken as a sign of honor, and on the other, she had a deep suspicion that something was amiss. But she maintained her smile and presented a relaxed and friendly demeanor. She turned her gaze to the woman's soul. It lit up silver with hints of shining ruby and Valdis realized instantly just how interesting this woman was. She felt feelings of adoration rise and seized them, letting them flow through her being as the smile on her face broadened and her eyes lit up.

"I have time," she replied finally, "But no one to share it with and window shopping is extraordinarily boring when you are alone."

Interesting. Where had that tension gone, if it had even been there in the first place? If this woman was playing, she had a gentler touch than China had expected.

China laughed quietly, not unkindly, a sound more musical than laughter by all rights should be, and swept one arm back to indicate the rest of the street, the market stalls yet awaiting. "Ah, but alone you may look at what you please, without concern for your companion's interests. Nevertheless, I intend to take my time about browsing, should you wish to join me."

"Yes, but I have been alone all morning and would be delighted to have company."

She maintained the smile, the brightness never leaving her eyes, even as her mind turned the feelings over and took them apart. She knew what she felt was not real, the woman's soul, tarnished by death and blood, seemed far brighter than any such soul should. Normally, Valdis would have found such manipulation deplorable, but this kind was mostly harmless when it came to her own willpower and for now, she was willing to go along with it.

"Anything in particular you would like to see?"

"Then it's settled." China turned on her heel to survey the street, making a show of considering their options. "Let's see... Jewelry, I think, but there's no rush. Half of the fun is in finding the unexpected."

She glanced back to Valdis, tilted her head to indicate the path ahead in something like invitation. "My apologies, I've been remiss. My name is China Sorrows; and you are...?"

She continued to smile, she sensed that the woman was merely acting in show, but she could go along with it, for now.

"Of course." She stepped up as if to pass, but stopped when the woman asked her name, "My name is Valdis. It is a pleasure to meet you, China."
