A) Before the 5th, Keeliai's Markets: After acquiring the angelic sword, Revelations, Valdis has found herself in need of some supplies in order to make a sheath worthy of the blade. She has enough coin to obtain what she needs and it helps that the Kedan are currently trying to put on a good face for the Ambassadors. She is quickly evaluating the attitude of the store owners and either purchasing or moving on, aware that this window of niceties might be quite narrow.

B) Midnight Hotel: When she isn't out in the city or exploring the surrounding areas, Valdis can be found in the common area, reading up on the history of Keeliai or going over her extensive, hand-written notes on the current issues the foreigners are facing in the city. If one is lucky, they may catch her in the lobby of the hotel, or if someone is ambitious and unafraid, they may find her in her room, though if she is sleeping, wake her at your own risk

C) Before the 5th, Turtle's Head: The cold didn't bother her much and she sat near the turtles head, looking out over the water at Khatronma, marveling at the dome from a distance. Revelations is at her hip, glowing softly in the early morning light. The last time she had been here it had been to possess the turtle in an attempt to help Wan oust Malicant from the ancient entity. It had also been where she had used the Void to kill four of the cultists attacking her and her friends. So many memories and none of the peace that had once been attached to this place.

She had been quite consumed in her notes, but she still heard him approach, though she was slightly surprised that he would stop to chat.

"I know," She replied, taking the tea, "But there is a lot to write down."

"Which is why breaks are important, or your hand will cramp and your writing will get too sloppy to read," Iroh pointed out. "Better to do it once correctly than to have to do it twice."

Valdis looked up at him, "Perhaps you are right." She put down the pen and gathered up the notes, carefully keeping them in order. "How have you been? I haven't really seen you since," she paused, uncertain, "Since the dreaming."

"Oh, keeping busy," Iroh said. "it is a shame about my tea shop, but I wasn't able to get it back from the family I deeded it to. Yourself?"

The man really seemed to bounce back quickly. "I have been keeping busy as well. This new world order we have returned to is quite interesting."

Iroh has much in the way of life experiences where bouncing back is a necessary skill. "Interesting, yes. Certainly more complicated. I wonder how much of this was beneath the surface before."

"Far too much," She replied, almost reaching for her notes again, "There was some sort of magic suppressing their souls and that magic has dispersed. I believe that this is what caused the sudden change."

"Huh," Iroh said. "Do you know what caused the magic to exist?"

"According to what I heard at the Forum from Akito, it was Eshai's magic that suppressed them. I would guess that her death lifted the spell, although it is odd that they were still suppressed under Evandau, who was ruler when I arrived."

Iroh shook his head. "Perhaps a contingency plan?"

"Perhaps," she agreed, "But if that is so, then the change was more gradual, because he died before we defeated Malicant."

"The force of personality can be a powerful thing. If you were complacent for so long, it might take some time to realize that you are missing something when it is removed. Or now have something."

She paused, unable to articulate the idea that she could relate to the kedan. But it made sense that, after not having something for so long, that it would appear slowly as one realized that it existed.

"Perhaps, it would make sense." She took a sip of the tea.

"Most revelations don't come out of nowhere. We might remember the defining moment, but they build for a long time beneath the surface. Like volcanoes."

"Except that volcanoes eventually explode, causing massive amounts of damage to their surroundings and changing the very landscape of the earth." In a way, the idea made sense, but the implications were not exactly friendly.

"Some more violently than others. All are dangerous dangerous, but for some, the lava moves slowly enough that towns can be evacuated. And predictably enough, as it runs downhill like water. Others blow their tops without warning. It depends on their natures."

Iroh knows some things about volcanos. And maybe he's lost the metaphor, but he's got it somewhere.

Now they seemed to be off topic, but she took another drink of the tea before answering, "And for others, the lava runs swiftly and burns everything in its path. Not to mention the ash that covers the sun and clogs the rivers."

"But can leave fertile soil afterward," Iroh pointed out. "There is a reason why volcanos are worth the risk, and it's not just the hot springs."

Though the hot springs were very nice.

It was an interesting outlook on the idea of volcanoes and something she would have to keep in mind.

"So, what does this have to do with the Kedan?" She asked, trying to guide the conversation back to the original topic.

"The kedan?' Right, their original topic. "Merely that what has been happening now has been building for some time."

"I suppose," she replied, not certain what else to say.

"It means we can't expect to change it overnight. And it may be best if we work with it, rather than against it."

"The plan wasn't to work against it," she replied, "But to understand it."

"The forum was a start," Iroh said. "It let everyone talk to everyone else."

She had gleaned quite a bit of interesting information from the forum. "True, it was a useful experience."
