Extreme Makeover: Keeliai Edition - March Log

Situation: Let's tear this bitch down.
Warnings/Rating: Drug addiction/withdrawal references in the Dust threads, most likely

The demolition is now in full swing and will last until late March, largely run by Zanru and the Metalworkers (as part of the deal), though individual Foreigners can be hired to help (and the help would likely be appreciated, as the Foreigners are going to get some of this too). Hired Foreigners will report to Xuiyu, as Zanru herself is too busy to be on-site. Gene can be found helping with the destruction, in his armor more often than not, over the course of the demolition project, and answering questions and taking suggestions from Foreigners and kedan about what to do with the newly freed land.

However, from the 4th to the 11th, there is Dust contamination, which is sickening some of the workers - Foreigner and kedan alike. It's not too much of a hindrance, and the demolition seems to be on track to finish on-schedule, by March 21st.

I...do not know.

[She allowed him to support her weight. At the very least, there was no pain. And while her skin might have felt warm to him...really, was there any way to know what was normal by her standards, versus any other living being? She was the only one of her kind, after all.]

I will require an external scan. It is the only possible source of answers.

[Gene nodded.] How do I set one up? [Honestly, he didn't know how to help Aya, so he would have to play it by ear and listen to her instructions.]

Bring me to the...room, and I will show you.

[She had already given him vague directions previously, in relation to Tony's old office. The assumption was that it would be enough for him to know where to go.]

[The vague directions had in fact been useful, and he maneuvered the pair of them to the room that Aya had specified earlier. He at least remembered that much of the layout, and the general area hadn't changed.]

[It was dark when they opened the door--with a few quick numerical commands on Aya's part. (Math was a multiversal language, and the ideal means for granting access to kedan and Foreigners alike) A few steps in, however, and the lights automatically flickered on revealing...]

[Actually, the room looked vaguely like a dentist's office. There was a metal table in the center, at a 45 degree incline angle, and a bunch of cabinets and drawers aligned against the walls. Above the table, there was...it looked like a light, but upon closer examination, it was a wavelength scanner of some sort. One connected to the medium-sized screen on a nearby wall.]

The scanner is programmed to my current vital statistics. If there is anything out of the ordinary, it should pick up.

[Gene blinked when he saw the unexpected interior. Frankly, he didn't know just what he had been expecting. A lot of this hard-science stuff was still beyond him. Pity the poor high school dropout, for he had to take up the family business. Of trying to conquer the world. It's a rough gig, but someone's gotta do it.]

Okay. What do you need me to do?

[looksfine]

[Please. Trying taking over the entire universe by traveling all the way back to the beginning of time and eradicate life as we know. Then complain about how rough you have it, Gene.]

[She pulled herself onto the table, the glow of her construct skin bathing the room in a subtle greenish tint. Once she was secured, she indicated towards a small keypad by the monitor.]

Please enter in the following sequence. It will self-activate from there.

[And she gave him the code.]

[Gene did as he was bade, entering the sequence in on the keypad, and took a step back. He wasn't sure just what was going to happen to Aya, though it was just a scan, so it couldn't be anything too invasive.]

[Oh, she had dealt with far worse before.]

[In fact, though, this method was highly preferable because there were no wires involved. She wasn't even restrained. Her eyes imply closed as the scanner hummed to life. Emitting a noticeably green light--(she might have added a few personal touches for maximum functionality)--which proceeded to travel up and down her body several times over the spam of a minute.]

[Numbers and symbols in a language known only to Aya would soon appear on the monitor. Which was also Green, with the occasional hints of blue...then lavender...and a small series of yellow flecks appearing on the rough digital outline of her form. Eventually, the screen gave a soft beep...and a huge green block of equally indecipherable text appeared.]

I...see. [Aya's eyes had opened the moment she heard the beep, and were currently staring at the screen in genuine surprise.] That is most interesting.

[wrathfulkhan]

[That may have been interesting to Aya, but it was all Greek to Gene. With the exception, of course, that Greek was actually a terrestrial language, so he'd have had more exposure to it. This? He's totally drawing a blank.]

What does it say?

[Yikes, he does not like being Comrade Questions.]

It would appear...

[Give her a moment. This was uncharted territory for her.]

...there are a series of foreign molecular objects infiltrating my primary processors. This is causing me to sporadically overheat, and has been severely draining my power resources as it attempts to eradicate my system of its presence.

[wrathfulkhan]

"Foreign molecular objects"...? [Gene frowned.] So theoretically, all we have to do is isolate and remove them, right?

[He laughed a little when something occurred to him.] Aya...it sounds like you have a cold.

[looksfine]

Correct.

[Fortunately, Aya had been around one Hal Jordan long enough in her travels to have heard of such labels. And understand they were not a direct reference to temperature, however ironically labeled, given that she was in fact on the warmer side as a result.]

A...cold?

[Still, it was a bit surprising to hear.]

[wrathfulkhan]

Yeah, [Gene said.]

Overheating and draining your power resources? That sounds just like a fever.

[He examined the readout, as if he could...actually read it.] I wonder what it is that's clogging your systems. Construction debris?

[looksfine]

The scan is inconclusive.

Whatever these molecular particles are, the current system does not recognize its atomic structure.

[She didn't sound too worried about that. Yet. It just meant more science would be necessary.]

[wrathfulkhan]

Okay, well...there should be a way to do a process of elimination, right? To exclude and isolate them so we're not scrambling, even if the system can't quite tell what they are yet?

[He has no idea what he's talking about.]

[looksfine]

[Perhaps not, but she got the general idea of his suggestion.]

Isolation has already occurred; as you can see here--[She motioned to another part of the screen, where a series of circular objects connected by either one or two lines was revolving around its own axis.]--several elements have already been identified.

Further samples may be necessary to see if my own body has contaminated the results in any way, at which time I will cross-reference them with every known substance in both my and Stark Industries' biological database. If there is no match...we will then continue to do more research.

[wrathfulkhan]

Ah.

[Yeah, okay, that made sense.]

How can I help with that? It seems like whatever it is, you picked it up at the construction site. Unless you were feeling like this before?

No, you are correct.

Symptoms first appeared approximately 7.6 hours after I first began work at the site.

[She purposely did not answer his initial question, because...she was not entirely certain. Aya was organic, yes, but not a carbon-based life form. She was not supposed to get sick.]

[And none of them were supposed to be in a city on the back of a turtle, Aya, and yet...]

Huh. [He frowned.] If it's from the site, we'll have to take precautions. I'll have to see if anyone else is feeling ill. [Not him, he feels fit as a flea.]

[looksfine]

[Hey, she once hung out on a literal sentient planet. Who later became a Green Lantern. Cities on the back of giant turtles were hardly the weirdest experience for her.]

Yes. I would be most interested in discovering precisely who and which species are being affected in what manners.

It might aid in diagnosing a more practical treatment.

[wrathfulkhan]

[Gene nodded.]

Especially if it's a kedan illness. We might be more similar than we thought.

How are you feeling?

[looksfine]

I feel...drained.

[It was, perhaps, fortunate that her sensors were incapable of pain. It saved her from the heat of her own construct skin, and the aches in her limbs.]

[wrathfulkhan]

You might do well to rest here for a while, [Gene said.] Or...is there somewhere else you'd rather stay?

[looksfine]

I do not have a current permanent place of residence, if that is what you are asking.

It is...usually not necessary.
