Hold on...

[She glances around for a moment before finding the section she was looking for; a few feet away, there was a large wicker basket with an assortment of hemp dolls. Each containing two black eyes and otherwise nondescript features. Picking one of them up, she holds it out for Kara to see.]

Once they're properly enchanted, you can use these to directly inflict pain or bad luck on the person you tie it too. Like, if you manage to get a lock of their hair or a very personal possession.

...most of the time, it doesn't work, though. Few people actually know how to use these things correctly. They don't realize you need to know actual pressure points, rather than just stick pins in at random.

That's horrible. [ She says that, but she looks closely at the doll with some interest. ]

When you say pressure points, do you mean the same ones that are on a person's body?

Maybe not quite as many, but I'm pretty sure they do match up, yeah.

[She offers the doll for Kara to touch, if she really wanted. Not that there was anything particularly interesting about this one. It wasn't enchanted. But still, the offer was there if she was curious enough.]

[ She accepts it with some hesitation and holds it up in front of her face, peering at all the stitching and trying to figure out what makes it so special. It looks like an ordinary doll, just... without any details. ]

I can show you a little bit, if you like. I do have the power to enchant those things, after all.

You could? [ But it did sound kind of dangerous. ] Is it safe?

I'll un-enchant it as soon as you tell me to. And I won't do anything to hurt you. I promise.

[...yes, Kara, she's asking permission to use magic on you. But only a little. Just enough to prove her point.]

What will you do? [ Because there's no way she's agreeing to make herself vulnerable without knowing exactly what to expect. ]

[Perfectly understandable question, and one which Zatanna was more than happy to answer.]

I'll poke at a few of your nerves. Basically, it'll tickle. That's all. Just to show you the connection between the doll and you.

[ She stares at the thing.

That still sounds dangerous. And if anything goes wrong, will Kara be in any state to defend herself.

She eyes the girl. She considers Zatanna a friend. You have to be able to trust your friends, don't you? ]

Alright. Just be careful.

[She takes back the doll and places a hand over it. Closing her eyes, she murmurs the proper spell. A slight gust of wind, just enough to be visible, swirls around the doll, though it otherwise does not appear to change in any way.]

I'll need something to tie it to you. A strand of hair, or a piece of clothing. Just something small.

[ Kara watches in utter fascination.

She blinks when Zee asks for a hair, but it quick enough to snap a few strands from her head and hand them over. ]

[She accepts the hairs, making quick work of tying them to the doll. Which still looked completely ordinary by any visual standards.]

[But then she took one of the needles from a nearby bin. Using her fingers to measure off something only she could properly understand, Zatanna found a certain spot just below the doll's armpit. Within seconds, Kara will feel a slight tingle in that area, as if her skin were being brushed by a single blade of grass.]

Oh! [ She almost jumps when she feels it. And it tickles. She scratched at the spot. ]
