Cain reacclimatizes to life on a a turtle floating through the Dreaming. Basically just make something up and I bet you Cain is there somewhere.
The thread with Gene delves into imagery of torture and child abuse. (If you could take a moment, consider filling this out!)
There was a whole lot that hadn't actually changed in the city. Small things, different businesses here and there, maybe a few more houses in one district and some converted or otherwise gone in another. It was familiar in the way any city was after a time lapse, although Cain would be the first to admit that it was a significant enough change for hardly a year's time since his last visit. At least that meant it was easy to catch up on old ground.

However, now he found himself staying at and working at the Hotel however temporarily until he got his feet truly underneath him. That was good, a simple task to keep an eye on people and make himself comfortable again. Working with the Metalworkers on his own projects kept the rest of the time occupied. The vast majority of Cain's free time, however, was spent exploring the city and feeling out the atmosphere, talking to kedan and foreigners alike. He had cleaned himself up and changed his wardrobe just enough to look older than his usual early-twenties for a change of pace. Usually, this wasn't the sort of thing Cain would care about; usually, this was the sort of bed the city could make and lie in all on its own for the denial of taking responsibility they'd dragged in themselves; usually, he wasn't stuck here forced to be a part of it with a bunch of others who were in much the same situation.

Usually, it sucked to have a sense of responsibility for those he felt close to.

Most of his days consisted of hitting up local businesses, making himself known to the locals as someone helpful and harmless and getting whatever gossip he could. Cain checked in on the few friends he had, and looked to make any more to improve his own situation. It never hurt to make use of a specifically positive image, after all. He might as well have a bit of fun with it.

With all the extra hours she was putting in at the Dojo, Valdis was feeling drained. She found herself relieved when time came to close, but she lingered a few moments after the last student had left, to clean up a few things that had been left behind. After putting the practice swords away and making certain that everything was in it's proper place, she gathered up Revelations and her small arms bag, and headed out the door, almost hurrying to get back to the Hotel. A familiar scent caught her attention an instant before she had to turn aside to avoid running into the man who had left them months ago. Her eyes narrowed, part annoyance and part confusion.

"Jacob Kane," she said bluntly, "I didn't know you were back."

It wouldn't be from just the Kedan that Cain had earned some attention.

It wasn't uncommon to spot Dove walking through the more common areas of the sectors. Even more common was how often she stopped to talk with someone new, to look over wares for sale, or to check in on a new friend she had made in the last few weeks.

It was during one of these outings when she would come across an unfamiliar face, doing very much the same it appeared. Intrigued by the odd aura he gave, she stood off to the side, away from the flow of the vendor traffic, and watched him, determined to figure it out before she approached.

Luckily, Era had accompanied her, and would remind her not to look too much like a statue by nudging her hand now and again to draw her attention back to him. A deer, for now, he stood fairly tall beside her, the perfect companion for the strikingly beautiful young angel all too intrigued by people she didn't know.

Bakura did his daily errands early in the morning, when there were a minimum of people on the streets. Not because he had any particular aversion to people, just that he dealt with enough of them while running the dojo, that he preferred his quiet times when and where he could take them.

There were several shops he was a frequent patron of (some by virtue of simply opening earlier than their neighbours) and he liked buying his foods in short term supply, something common both in his own habits and ones he'd adopted masquerading as Ryou.

The thief frowned a little as he exited a bakery with a new loaf of bread. He still thought about the teen with uncommon regularity, despite it having been nearly eight months since his disappearance. that struck Bakura as strange, and those thoughts occupied his attention so that he didn't notice anyone else in the area.

Gene was doing his shopping - he'd settled into the idea of domesticity out of sheer necessity, and was surprised/annoyed to find out that he actually liked it - when a familiar face caught his eye.

Oh. Huh.

He'd thought he'd heard something about Kane being back.

"Kane," he said when he got within earshot, holding his shopping bag. "Good to see you."

The hotel was quite busy this month which left Klaus occupied with the book-keeping. True to his word, he was quite good at reconciling the accounts. But that wasn't where he was today. Klaus had found more steady employment at a small flower shop run by an elderly kedan. His duties were mostly tending to the greenhouse, clean-up, and heavy lifting. The owner had, very politely, asked Klaus not to be in the front room when customers were around. His appearance tended to make them nervous.

He hadn't minded. Klaus preferred to tend to the flowers in the greenhouse in peace, and he didn't have much experience as far as retail went. Though at the moment, the shop was empty, and the elderly owner had dozed off at the counter. Klaus was diligently sweeping, and had tucked a rolled towel under the owners neck while he slept.

There was a small jingle as the shop door opened, and Klaus looked up from his sweeping.

"Good afternoon," he greeted. The owner hadn't even twitched from his nap.
