open | The Emperor's (?) Audience at the Palace of Landed Sky
Characters: The Ironwood Emperor Alderwood Commander and anyone who came to speak with the Ironwood Emperor.
Date: January 12th
Location: The Palace of Landed Sky
Situation: The expected holding of an audience for any that care to speak with the Ironwood Emperor, though they will be met instead by the Alderwood Commander.
Warnings/Rating: N/A; to be updated if necessary
The hall is still and white, strung with softly glowing lanterns that are strung up high beyond reach. Outside, the sun is at its zenith, and it filters down through the cloudy glass roof to create a brilliant, nearly blinding ambiance.
The floor is marble, inlaid with mother-of-pearl and ruby quartz. It catches the light, and casts strange patterns on the walls.
The room itself is almost eerily silent. No noise, no echoes. No one and nothing vaguely human, excepting the presence of Evandau. The commander of all law enforcement in Keeliai and its surrounding areas stands before the Emperor's empty throne with patient expression and posture reminiscent to the at-ease bearing of a soldier. He waits to receive the petitioners, kedan and Foreigner alike, in Eshai's place this one day. As with her audiences, those wishing to make their case must approach him and he will make not move to shorten the distance between the grand entryway and the throne that he defends.
The 'audience' is an open one, and no one will be turned away. So come one, come all, to the Palace of Landed Sky.
[Actionspam or prose are both acceptable! The Emperor has delegated the audience to Evandau this month and he has been temporarily granted many of the authorities that she naturally holds. Why is that? Well, telling y'all would be too easy, wouldn't it?
Characters will only be admitted into the hall one by one, so there won't be anyone present for anyone else's conversations, and there won't be any 'mingling' in the chamber itself.
By popular demand, we will continue to allow mingling for those waiting for an audience in an antechamber. There is a thread header below to allow for that!]

Kon-El - CU
More people from his home world had arrived, and since he had arrived here himself, every person was from a point in time that was literally years ahead. He was tired of it. The mild surprise some of them showed at seeing a younger version, at seeing him. He wanted to know what he was like when they came from, what the Kon they knew was like and the only person that could really help was the Emperor.
So that was why he was there, entering the audience chamber and, oh holy crap the place was huge. Kon took a deep breath and let it out after a moment and took to the air, making his way to the throne. He'd never been before, so he didn't know what to expect, no one had told him. To be fair though, he never asked.
He stopped suddenly when he saw Evandau and stared, hovering in mid-air. This wasn't something he'd expected before, and he didn't see the Emperor. With a raised brow, he cleared his throat and moved a little closer.
"Uh, I thought I was gonna see the Emperor? Not that I'm not totally thrilled to see you or anything but, y'know..."
no subject
He remained standing before the throne, unfazed by the hovering. Briefly, his expression took on a wry cant. "Today, you will be seeing me," came out simple and sweet. "What do you want?"
no subject
He huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, most of his weight put to one side.
"I want to know what happens. I want to know if there's any way the Emperor can show you or tell you stuff that happens back home. Like the future, or other peoples past."
Kon's brow creases and his mouth draws into a tight line.
"I'm sick of not knowing and feeling like people are hiding stuff from me.
So is there?"

He swallowed and nodded, feeling coming back to his limbs.
"Great. Alright, so uhm...how does it happen and can I do it?"
no subject
"It happens here in the palace, but you'll only find out how if you pay up." His tone took on a slight strain here, a touch of distaste for the statement that followed. "As Lieuen would say: What's it worth to you?"
no subject
Kon reached up and rubbed the back of his neck,.
"I've got money. I can pay for it through the job I've got. I don't mind cutting down on crap."

His reply was instant, he didn't have to think about it. He knew that's all he really needed.

There existed one room within the palace in which this could be done as explained to him by Eshai and on this one day, he had the authorities and influence to both access and utilise it for the sake of Foreigners that petitioned and paid for some glimpse of their future. This one room had many approaches and he intended to take a convoluted one to preserve its exact location within the palace, but even then it would only take ten minutes to approach the door, should Kon maintain his pace.
Evandau stopped at the door, looking straight at it as he explained one last thing: "Any attempts to renege on your payment will violate our agreement," he warned. "Violation of any agreement with me in her place is an offence against the Emperor and I will personally see to punishment, understood?"
no subject
Once they were at the door and Evandau gave him the warning, he looked at him with a serious look to his face and nodded.
"I never go back on what I say. You'll get the payments in full."

Kon was cautious when he walked in. Was something going to jump out? What was with the pool and why were there so many mirrors?
"So this is...uh, okay."
no subject
"This is it," he said, simply putting his hands out towards Kon with the intent to push him straight into the pool. With his ability in effect, he had no concern about strength or flight interfering.
Meanwhile, the pool itself would listen to what Kon wanted and allow only what Evandau permitted, but for that to work, the miscreant needed to be in the water first.

It wasn't working and he knew it wouldn't, but his body tried to react on its own. With things not working he was more off guard than usual and suddenly wet. Evandau had actually just...pushed him in!
Kon wiped away his wet hair and glared up at the guy.
"What the hell? Dude you just..."
Kon found himself trailing off as the mirrors seemed to change enough for him to notice and then it was as if he was there in the pool watching a home movie of him. With things he didn't remember happening.
Shit, this was pretty freaky now that he thought about it. He was watching his life play out the way it would back home, seeing the same things, hearing them. He couldn't smell the same smells of think the same thoughts though.
He saw it all. His costume changing, his hairstyle, the fact he grew facial hair. Kon rubbed at his jaw when he saw it. He saw the events happening with Young Justice, his time in Gotham where he met Batgirl and stood up to Batman. Wait, he knew that girl, she was...they had something? Everything was showing up so fast that he saw that another mirror was starting to show things. Granny Goodness and Secret falling in with Darkseid and...and him and Wondy. Oh man it really happened. Happens. Whatever.
As more goes on, he sees the Teen Titans, sees who he's meant to become and the guy that everyone else knows. Kon feels himself getting angry, this person is Conner Kent, Conner, not Kon. Not him. He doesn't want to accept it even if some of it ties in with what Tim, the other Tim told him. He sees that they were best friends. Are best friends, because that isn't him. It's not.
But he keeps watching and he sees more. He hears something that makes him go cold and feel like a lead weight. If this Conner guy was him, he has a trigger. No one told him. No one told him anything and it makes him angrier. He ignores what else he sees and shakes his head, pushes the water and grips the edge of the pool.
"This is a joke, right? You made this up, didn't you? Pretty neat trick."
no subject
He hears the accusation and his expression shifts, bitterly wry in the turn of his smile. "You received exactly what we agreed upon," he said flatly. "Whether you like what happens or not, that is what your future would hold."
no subject
Kon got to his feet and again wiped the wet curls from his face.
"Bullshit. I wouldn't do any of that. That...that guy?" He points to wear he had seen the events unfold. "He is not me.
You'll still get the payments, I want outta here."
