Situation: Tu Vishan is still anchored just off the coastline of Tavimbi, and the city of Hatal continues to welcome kedan and Foreigners alike.

The Tavimbians continue to be welcoming to their guests, and while Foreigners are still required to carry their issued pass stamps while in Hatal, they are starting to become recognized. The stamps are made of a brassy metal, a little larger than a credit card, and inscribed with their information, their date of arrival, and whether they've had any run-ins with the laws in Tavimbi (it will be stamped accordingly by the authorities if such happens.)

OOC: There are starters in the comments for various areas of Hatal, or you can use the rest of the post for anything on Tavimbi which doesn't fit under those headings. "There are always going to be patients," she points out, sounding surprisingly reasonable about it. "There's only one Simon. Did you forget?"

Simon went over to his precious sister, holding her close briefly before taking a seat next to her.

"One of me never feels like enough," he remarked. "... I can't just walk away from these people. They need help, help they will never get enough of because they happen to be seen as lower-class."

In his hold, River almost immediately lost some of the line of tension that so frequently tightened her shoulders, and she leaned against him. She studied the Kin'nal working back and forth, some with bandages on their limbs, but most in the immediate vicinity faring well enough that he might not feel too guilty about taking a short rest.

"The system here is broken," she observed solemnly. "Not a lot, but still a little, just like at home."

There might have not been lawful social castes in the 'Verse, but that didn't mean they didn't exist.

Simon closed his eyes as River leaned against him. He'd been seeing the same things she was observing all day... and as a doctor who had made an oath to heal, that made it that much harder for him to think of himself first. To look out for his own needs, when the people of this planet had so many of their own.

"It is," he sighed. "And I know I can't do anything to fix it. I'll do what I can to help while I am here, but it will not be enough. How can I do anything for myself right now?"
