[Open Log] Don't you Worry 'bout a thing

Characters: Members of the Foreigners' Guild
Date: Beginning of May
Location: Welcome Center
Situation: Trying to figure out just how this thing is going to work
Warnings/Rating: none to start; will update if needed

Today, the Center is...not quite closed, because it was never closed, but the sign out front was a little more specific than usual: indicating that those who had chosen to align themselves with the Foreigners' Guild to stop by at their convenience for a group discussion. Word of mouth was the primary means of getting the information out, but just in case, Zatanna was nearby with a checklist making sure to get names of not only who showed up, but of any known members who did not. So that they could be contacted at a later time and kept in the loop.

For her part, the 19-year-old was sitting casually in her favorite armchair by the fireplace (though currently lit, was emitting very little heat, indicating a more magical nature. For ambiance, mainly) and not-quite-facilitating the entire process. Her body language gave little indication of wanting to step forward as official leader, although she was ready with answers for any who may have had relevant questions.

[[ooc: Characters are encouraged to make their own top levels for open-ended discussion of the state of the Guild; if any of them want to talk to Zatanna specifically, indicate in the subject level and she'll come around.]]

"Hey!" Pepper grinned and shrugged. "Yeah, Valdis and Gene both went with Justice, so I figured there should be someone not from there leading the KPD. Also, when I kind of started pushing for a council last year, I didn't want the Foreigners, you know, running things. I kinda wanted to stay a step back, I guess."

She shrugged and reached for a cookie. Decisions like this were best made with delicious foods at hand.

"I'm kinda planning on doing what I've been doing still, except when I have to do something specifically Guild-related," Pepper added. "Thanks for putting this together."

"It does, but it still helps that you kinda got the ball rolling. Things have been... a little insane lately." Pepper glanced around the room briefly. "It looks like we ended up with a pretty good balance of people who stayed here and people who joined other Guilds. And I don't think the Foreigners guild will be so big that it gets unmanageable."

They still needed a representative, but with only a small number of them it would be easier to make decisions together. Hopefully.

"Ugh. Yeah. I just have to keep reminding myself that this is all still a good thing, the kedan coming up with their own government. I really hope it doesn't turn into a shouting match," Pepper sighed. "Unless we're talking, like, Judge Judy shouting match - that would actually be pretty entertaining."

She shook her head, still smiling. "Think any super weird high crimes'll come up? Some of the laws around here are kinda odd."

"Yeeeeeah. Prejudice might be an issue - we'll probably have to look out for that," Pepper agreed. The kedan were approving and antagonistic of Foreigners in turn, and the codification of laws could get a little dicey if some individuals allowed bias to rule them.

"Most of the Foreigners that are here now weren't around then, though, right? It'd be kinda dumb for them to hold the new people accountable especially." Which did not preclude the possibility of that happening, but there was nothing wrong with gathering logical arguments beforehand. "I wonder what that might mean for Foreigners who join other guilds, though. Seems like there might be a weird balance there."
