Characters: Damian Wayne - Robin (
demon_brat), Storm (
storm_warning), and anyone else who's been kedan-napped and wants rescued?
Location: Fire sector
Situation: Getting kidnapped by the kedan. Breaking out.
Warnings/Rating: Violence against children. General violence. With Damian, overall minors abuse is very likely. Language. Let's put PG-13 with possibility to raise it, if needed?
Notes: Both prose and actionspam are good with me. For anyone wanting to be rescued from the kidnapping/wanting to help with the rescue, please make sure Damian and Storm have arrived at the location where the captives are taken.
[Damian Wayne has a very peculiar definition of staying out of trouble. He's aware of the fact, and he's not certain that his Father is when he makes the request, but he should be. He's Batman.
Staying out of trouble means he's not trying to go up against Evandau directly and on his own. He's gathering information, sure. But he's mostly staying out of the way of the police.
He's still out there, in full costume and on full alert, keeping track of the turf war and making sure as few of the civilians become victims as possible. And gathering information so that when they start working on the situation - and he has no doubt whatsoever that Batman will, with time, turn on it, they'll have all the intelligence they will need.
He's watching a mother and very young child finally vanish into the shadow of an entrance, from street level, because the combination of fires and the nighttime glow and the spacing between buildings makes rooftop vantage view unreliable, when they set upon him. Maybe they've kept an eye on him, and maybe they've figured that a costumed person would be of more importance somehow, or maybe they are stupid enough to think that grabbing a child will be easy, but these particular kedan actually set on Robin.
The first two end up with broken kneecaps (that's way harder than it should have been, but he knew that the locals' strength was greater than human, ditto endurance), and the third one's thigh has a long, fast-bleeding but not lethal gash from his batarang, before Grayson's lessons catch up with Damian's reflexes.
If they are grabbing a kid off the streets, have they grabbed more? Where did they take them?
He realizes he can spend time beating the group here, then questioning them, then finding his way to the location he gets from them, then having to scope things from the outside...
... or he can let them just take him there. And then beat them and get whoever else is there out. And maybe learn something else on the way.
Tough as it is on his dignity, that plan has greater merit.
And letting himself be captured... really is tough.
But he's accomplished more difficult tasks. And not like the pain that's inflicted matters.]

You guys ever hear of the ASPCA?
[It's one more bit of sass from her and the kedan mostly ignore it and her as she kneels down next to Merle, putting out a hand gently. Her voice is quiet and her glare, directed at the kedan, dark.]
Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. You okay?
ASPCA remark made me legit spit-take.
She shivered as one of the voices drew closer, darting a quick look up at the figure kneeling near her only to find that she didn't look like one of the kedan that had grabbed her.
She wars for several moments between bravery and honestly before the harsh reality of the situation sinks in.]
No...
[It's a poor excuse for an answer, and she remains curled in on herself to present the smallest target possible. She hurt all over, her cheek swollen from slap she'd received, the blood on her lips a mixture of her own and the kedan she'd bitten. She swallowed back a sob, trying for bravery then, even if a poor showing of it.]
But you should see the other guy.
[Her smile faltered into a grimace, tail curling in around her hip. She would be feeling this in the morning. Hell, she was feeling it now.]
And in comes me, late forever... BUT I WUB YOU, GUISE!
It stays almost perfectly still until the kedan walk away, then the gray part rises to form into a hood, under which two bright, hard blue eyes peek out.]
... was so right I wasn't the only one. Have you two been here long?
PERFECTLY ON TIME WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT
Yeah, I'd like that. [She says it offhand to Merle, her hand resting in what she hopes is a comforting gesture on her shoulder. Then, daringly and more quietly, she adds:] Think you'd be up to giving a demonstration?
[Except for the sudden arrival of one (1) lump straight out of the fabric store... Wait. No. That's a kid? Her eyes narrow and a rumble of thunder works its way into the air.]
Only a New York minute and that's too long.
OH GOD, I'M SO SORRY!!! Long weekend and just.. urgh, sorry!!!!
Her gaze shifts back to Ororo as she speaks and touches her shoulder, her words obviously intended for Merle and Merle alone. She's hurting, but the suggestion the other girl is making is unmistakable. She swallows, her blue gaze moving around the room as she mentally counts up the number of kedan in the room.]
All too willing...
[And then all conversation comes to an abrupt halt as another clothed figure is dropped, literally, into their midst. Merle's ears pin and she can't help the tremor that moves through her as she gives a small shake of the head, letting Ororo front the conversation... but you better believe she's all ears.]
NOTHING to be sorry for! We're all still here.
They are too far from the door for fighting their way out without reasonable danger for the cat-girl (cat-girl? Kyle would have ki-- conniptions at this one) getting hurt.
However, a wall he can see through the doorway across from them features a window high up, close to the roof. That looks like a better way out, to him. He asks quietly, without turning around to look at them,]
Can either of you climb walls?
TOTALLY fine!
Climb? No way.
[She shifts her weight, settling on her knees beside Merle with a sigh. She looks up at the skylight, far above, and bits the inside of her lip as she thinks about it. It's not like she has a ton of options open to her in any case, but outing herself randomly is a habit she's learned not to have.
Then again, what's the alternative? sitting put and letting these kedan do... whatever? Ugh. Yeah, right.]
But if you're looking at the window, I can get there. [A grim smile.] Maybe even faster than either of you.
So, I thought I was watching this post. I was, but spam got the comments. Problem hopefully solved.
The longer she looked at it, the more she was sure that she could do it.
Her ears flick back to the girl as she speaks, her gaze following a moment later.]
I can climb it, but they would need to be distracted.
[A glance with her eyes moves to include the kedan guards that are still in the room with them.]
It's an option if whatever you have planned doesn't work... [A glance at Ororo at the last. She didn't know what the human girl thought she was going to do, but she would scale the wall if her idea didn't pan out.]
Oooh. And YAY solved!!
What else can you do?
[The question is blunt, but not tinged with disgust. Just necessity to know the resources. Then he looks at the girl, and the smirk is visible beneath the hood's shadow.]
Don't worry, there'll be a distraction. Have either of you seen any sign there may be anyone else here who is... an unwilling guest?

And there's probably a few more. This place looks too organised to be a one-shot deal -- why'd they pick something this big?
