'Speaking of good hands,' Kyle stares at his quietly before looking at Dick, his breathing slightly hitched. 'This is a personal request, okay? I don't mind you sharing it with your Team, or your family back home, if you need to. But it's not anyone else's business.'

And he knew from the way this Dick described his father, that Bruce would take a more active role in Lantern business. It sounded like they were on much better terms.

Dick frowns slightly, confused.

"Okay but why?"

'The people from my world - it's our past. We can't do anything about it, no matter how much we might want to. But when it's your future, you know, there's that whole destiny crap.' He waves a hand, dismissive, a little angry. 'I don't believe it's destined to happen, and even if it was, I'd do everything in my power to stop something like that.'

"I don't believe in destiny anyway."

He shrugs. He does the 'impossible' every day anyway.

"Is that the only reason you don't want me telling them? Or do you think they'd try to talk me out of it?"

[imaginate]

'Honestly? I don't know if they would. But - this is Lantern business. This is my immediate family, so... it's a little private. I guess.' He fidgets, uncomfortable. The League was family but not in the same way, and he valued what privacy he did have, with the community.

Dick nods with understanding. If it'd been about his family, whether it be the Bats or the Team, he'd feel the same way.

"I understand. I might tell Zatanna and Wally, if that's alright. I figure between the three of us, we have a better chance of remembering when we get home."

[imaginate]

'That's all right. I know you'll want to tell your dad too, the one at home, I won't ask you to keep it from him.' He sighs, heavily, runs a hand through his hair. 'Man, I have no idea how to even start to tell Zee or Wally something like this. You tell me if you need me to, yeah?'

"Assuming he doesn't think I'm insane for going on about a magic turtle."

But Dick isn't too worried. Bruce is one of the few people who listen to him no matter what.

"It's alright; I'll manage."

'Hey, if anything, he's the one most likely to believe you. You can't make up something like this.' He frowns. 'Or at least, I really hope you can't, because that's a whole new set of excuses for sneaking out past curfew.'

Dick straightens slightly in his chair. Hearing Kyle put his faith in Bruce felt oddly good, given how prickly some people could be about him.

"No, my jokes aren't this elaborate. And, trust me, sneaking out is impossible."

[imaginate]

Kyle sees that posture change and smiles. He leans forward, lowering his voice to almost a whisper. 'The B from my world might not like Lanterns, but he still looked out for me, where he could. That's not gonna change across universes. I owe him that much.'

Then he leans back. 'Huh, I'd have thought Mr. Pennyworth would be the one in charge of making sneaking out impossible. Or is that what you were referring to?'

Dick smiles.

"Who else? Bruce can't exactly yell at me for staying out late."

[imaginate]

Kyle laughs, deep, and genuine. 'Aw man. He would. I miss his cookies.'

Dick seems... slightly surprised. He didn't quite realize Kyle and Bruce had worked that closely.

"I've missed Alfred's cooking since day 1. Though Bruce managed edible stir-fry."

Kyle laughs. 'No way. He always cheats at League potlucks!'

"People don't really believe he makes any of that food, do they?"

[imaginate]

'We almost did. Almost.'

"Seriously? He can't even make coffee." He smiles conspiratorially. "It's pretty bad."

[imaginate]

Kyle looks "horrified". 'I think I'm learning much more about B than I'll ever be comfortable with. It messes with the whole... tall dark mysterious thing.'

"It's even worse when you actually live with him."

Dick looks thoughtful for a moment. "I didn't know you guys were close. Well, close-ish."

[imaginate]

'We're not, not really.' He pauses. 'I'm hang around the Arrows and the speedsters a lot more than your crowd. It's the League, they were my first family.'

Dick looks like he has a question he wants to ask, but thinks better of it.

"Yeah. They're kind of mine too."

[imaginate]

Kyle knows what that expression means but he supposes they'd had enough heartbreak for one day.

'Just Us League.' He chuckles softly.

"The craziest family you could ever be a part of."

'Oh yeah, you can say that again.'
