[She nods against him, also not letting go.]

[After everything...a hug was just what she needed right then. Warm and secure and Kyle was large enough that her small frame could easily get lost in his brotherly embrace.]

[That earns a somewhat ironic laugh out of her, and she shakes her head against him. Even though she's still holding on, her head tilts to one side so he can hear her.]

I have legs, last time I checked.

[The smile widens a little more. She can't even bring herself to roll her eyes.]

You owe me a horse, Hero.

No, I think we can work with a dragon.

Besides, sometimes cliches exist for a reason.

[She pulls away just enough so they can start walking again, but maintains a closer proximity to him than before. Not quite leaning against him.]

No promises.

In fact, if you even think about sending a poet after me, I will dive head-first off the Turtle.

[She's proud of you for knowing how this really works, though.]

[I see what you did there]

[She laughs again. It seemed impossible not to spend long enough time with Kyle--and they had been spending a long time walking back today--without laughing. And borderline crying. And experiencing just about every other emotion on the spectrum, all within the span of a few hours.]

[The conversation briefly lapses into a comfortable silence. She continues to lean against him as they stroll along. Head lowered just enough for her hair to obstruct her smiling face from his vision.]

[They'd been right earlier: they definitely needed today.]
