Characters: Dany, Zelgadis, and Amelia
Date: April 6th
Location: Dany's apartment
Situation: Dany's looking to hire some bodyguards.
Warnings/Rating: Should be fairly G-rated???
[ She's worked with sellswords before, of course. Watched Viserys try to treat with them as children, and then later, as a woman grown and a queen, treated with them herself. She knows the steps of this dance.
But she misses Daario. The memory of his smug smile, the cruel glimmer in his eye, and the weight of his hands on her makes her heart ache. She misses him. Him, and steadfast Ser Barristan, sweet little Missandei, her handmaids Irri and Jhiqui, and even Jorah Mormont, her tough old bear. Yet she is here, alone.
She sets the tea to boil to prepare, and finds some food in the pantry that looks suitable (and easy to prepare), and waits for her guest to arrive. ]

[He was still nervous. Weeks on the Turtle hadn't gotten him used to the fact that the kedan didn't seem him as any different than any other foreigner, and that many of the foreigners here weren't humans. But surely some of them had to come from worlds like his, where he looked more like someone out to ransack villages than carry groceries.]
{At least people hiring bodyguard and mercenaries thought that being intimidating was a feature, not a bug. And he had Amelia here as a character witness.]
[He adjusted his cloak and hood and knocked on the door]
It's Mister Graywords. May I come in? I asked one of the friends I mentioned to come along.

[The temptation was there to fuss at him for the cover-up, but one, she knew it wouldn't do any good, and two, they were already at the door. There wasn't much to do but wait, listening for anyone inside.]

[ She does not open the door herself and usher them in, acting her own steward. Kyle she endeavored to treat as an equal, and while she will treat Zelgadis and his associate no less, the nature of this relationship is different.
This is business.
Seated on a simple ottoman, she's dressed as finely as she can be with the wardrobe given her, and she wears a veil wrapped loosely over her shoulders to cover her baldness. ]

Good day. This is my friend and associate, Amelia wil tesla Saillune.
[He didn't mention that, technically it was Princess Amelia -- that was Amelia's prerogative, not his, and the name wasn't the give away that it would have been back home. At best, Dany might notice that Amelia had a longer name than Zelgadis's own and infer Amelia was of a higher social standing.]
If you don't mind, I'd like to remove my cloak before we begin.
[He already had a hand to the scarf covering his face. His bare fingers (as his gloves were cut to keep his fingers free) were a lot more visible than the upper half of his face, but it was still possible to see something off about Zel's skin and hair, particularly the way Zel's hair caught the light.]
So sorry for the wait. >.<
[Amelia, tiny in comparison to her companion, beams at Dany. For a moment she wonders at the veil, but it's only a passing mental query. People wear very different clothes here.]
[Her attention is distracted by Zelgadis' statement. . . . Now? It's his choice, but . . . Her head tilted, awkward.]
. . . Zelgadis-san, maybe you should do some talking first?
[She could understand if he wanted to get it over with, but it seemed like some talking would help with the credibility he wanted to build.]
likewise!
[ But despite her smile, she is curious. Women, of course, often cover themselves, as a sign of modesty or to protect their skin from the ravages of the sun. That a man covers himself is enough to draw her interest. ]
Re: likewise!
This isn't the type of thing people react rationally to. I don't think talking will help.
[With that, Zel did actually slide the scarf covering his mouth and nose out of the way, and pulls his hood off, in a surprisingly efficient gesture for all that build-up.]

[But this is what she's mainly there for, she suspects. Moral support. Teeth knifing into her lower lip, she watches him remove the covering, eyes flickering to Dany.]

...but not for the reason Zelgadis and Amelia might think. ]
You suffer the greyscale affliction.
[ Her voice is not without compassion. ]

[That... was not what he had expected at all.]

It's not a sickness! [A small flush.] He's not sick.
It's a spell. His grandfather did it. [Or was it his great-grandfather?] His grandfather did it without his permission, then wouldn't change him back.
[Her mouth firms.] But it gives him a lot of strengths, too, and it doesn't change who he is as a person, so it's your advantage to take him on. He's a good swordsman and a good sorcerer, so. Yes.
[Someone is maybe just a little protective after all.]
