and the day keeps on worrying me
Characters: Percy, Mrs. O'Leary, and YOU
Date: April 9-10
Location: Both Atam and Keeliai. Pick and choose where you want to run into him!
Situation: Percy has a giant hellhound who likes to lick things
Warnings/Rating: IT'S A GIANT PUPPY basically G-rated.Except for Percy and Annabeth oops
[It's no secret that Percy has been in a terrible mood lately. Between everything going wrong on the turtle and what's waiting for him and Annabeth back home, it's difficult for the usually upbeat demigod to maintain a positive attitude. Percy tries to be a source of positivity for the others, but he's still a teenager with the world on his shoulders, so some moodiness is expected.
Except for right now. Because right now, Percy is seated comfortably on the back of a giant black dog - literally, she's about the size of a rhino, or maybe a small elephant. He looks relaxed in a way he hasn't in weeks as he chats to the hellhound; Mrs. O'Leary doesn't really look like she's very interested in what he's saying, tongue lolling out and dribbling drool on anyone who happens to get too close as she looks around the surrounding area. There's a kind of barely restrained energy in her form that says the only thing stopping her from bounding around like a maniac is Percy's presence on her back.
He's not sure how Atam feels about a hellhound in its midst, and the kedan don't seem to happy about her presence in their streets, but they're too intimidated to actually approach the beast of a dog just yet. Besides, she only knocks over a few things, and Percy apologises right away.]

I'm alright, Marius.
[It's just a dog, after all. And a cute one at that! It probably meant no harm and was merely excitable or affectionate. ]
no subject
Oh man, I'm sorry. Are you okay? [The dog, meanwhile, has determined that Cosette is a source of potential scritches, and headbutts her chest gently]
no subject
And why is it touching my Cosette's chest
Even I haven't touched that part yetMarius barely even registers Percy's concern; he scrambles back to his feet and stares in utmost disdain at the large, offensive dog. ]
Monsieur, please be mindful of your steed!
[ AND MAKE IT STOP TOUCHING COSETTE'S BOSOM OR SO HELP ME GOD ]
no subject
Don't fret, we are both fine.
[ She looks to Marius now, her smile more prodding. ]
Aren't we, Marius?
no subject
Sorry, she's kind of hard to control. She's friendly, though! She won't hurt you. I mean, not on purpose. [Because you kind of ended up on the ground whoops. He smiles at the girl, grateful she's not making a big deal of it] I think she likes you.
no subject
Yes. Certainly, Cosette.
[ And to Percy! ]
It is fine. [ Um. ] I am sorry for my outburst, monsieur.
[ still giving a distrusting glance at your giant dog though! ]
no subject
At Percy's comment, Cosette lights up. There's a certain brightness to her expression, like that of a child discovering something new. Apart from the happiness Marius has brought her, this is one of the best things to happen here! ]
Ah, truly? I am glad to hear so. I knew a dog when I was younger, but I never got to spend much time with one. I would have thought I wasn't good with animals, honestly.
no subject
Honestly, most animals are fine with most people so long as they’ve been treated well. Mrs O’Leary likes basically anyone who isn’t trying to attack us, so you’re welcome to come hang out with her if you want.
no subject
Will you give your word for that?
[ said without taking judging eyes off mrs o'leary. Sob. ]
no subject
Marius!
[ After giving Marius a look, she smiles at Percy apologetically, as if she's the one with the disobedient pet. ]

A second, and he gives a satisfied nod. ]
That is fair.
[ He gives Cosette a look then that's not unlike a hurt puppy's. ]
I am merely seeing to your safety, Cosette.
no subject
I understand, but... [ A pause. She looks to the dog and smiles as she starts again ] I think this is a great deal of worrying over a dog. And a perfectly pleasant one at that.
no subject
[Mrs O'Leary whuffs at that, knowing she's being talked about and probably knowing she's being complimented.] I think that means thank you.
no subject
E-Even so, she is still my responsibility.
[And then he does a thoughtful tilt of the head! Because come to think of it, now that he keeps staring at the dog it does look kind of cute...]
