Under the Sea (Open)

Characters: Jehan, Grantaire, Byrn, and everyone who wants to join them!
Date: April 23rd, midmorning to late evening
Location: The edge of the turtle!
Situation: Swimming! A picnic! A party!
Warnings/Rating: I'm going to rate this PG-13 for naked/nearly naked people, alcohol, and smoking. Also R's mouth. And apparently terrible mythological comparisons.

[Jehan has never been this happy, he doesn't think. The ocean. The blue, warm ocean. He gets to see it again, gets to swim in it with his friends, gets to enjoy it. He's so happy.

Of course, he's taking a long moment to shed anything but his coat once the group gets to the edge. It's a beautiful shade of blue and he can't not admire it.]

[When Combeferre has settled down to read, Jehan joins him with the Orestia he found on the mainland]

Did I show you my find, Combeferre?

You did not, but we have been rather...ah, busy of late. What is it? [A book? He's already perking up.]

[He holds up his Orestia, grinning]

And I believe it is my copy from France. I recognize the stains on the cover.

Really? But -- how did they ever...that is wonderful, Jehan!

I've no idea, but I am not one to question a gift. I am afraid I found nothing of yours, though I looked. But others seem to have found belongings while we were on the mainland. I wonder if it is a regular occurence.

[philosophe]

The mainland or the finding of objects from home? Either would be welcome -- though, I suppose, probably not places like ...the last.

It would be quite nice to find at least one of my books, I think. The ones here cannot do them much justice.

[poeticverses]

[Jehan frowns a bit.]

The last city was terrible, absolutely terrible. Still, I suppose it was worth it, even a little, to find something of home.

Oh! He pulls a folded piece of paper from the book and hands it to Combeferre]

In all the excitement I'd forgotten to show you this. It is a map of the turtle I found in the Emperor's library and copied down as best I could.

[philosophe]

Enjolras is somewhat satisfied now, at least. [He frowns too, though it's mostly thoughtful.] I do wonder if there will be any repercussions in future, however.

[But he brightens, at that news.] Oh, that is excellent! May I copy it down as well?

Of course, mon ami. That is why I copied it. It is written in the local language, obviously, and my attempts to copy the writing were dismal, but I made a good effort I feel.

[philosophe]

So you did! [And he settles in to copying it down for himself, grinning.]

We must show this to Temeraire, he may be able to help.

Oh, I didn't even think of that. Lord Henry--the Englishman over there--mentioned a bookseller who might help, but I would like to avoid awkward questions about how exactly I obtained this map.

[philosophe]

He has some skill with languages, I believe, it may be of some use.

I hope so. This is not too terribly detailed, obviously, but it should be useful for exploration. There might be areas of the turtle that need tending to that have not yet been found, hidden resources of some sort, that sort of thing.

We shall have to take it next time we go flying, in that case!
