Under the Sea (Open)

Characters: Jehan, Grantaire, Byrn, and everyone who wants to join them!
Date: April 23rd, midmorning to late evening
Location: The edge of the turtle!
Situation: Swimming! A picnic! A party!
Warnings/Rating: I'm going to rate this PG-13 for naked/nearly naked people, alcohol, and smoking. Also R's mouth. And apparently terrible mythological comparisons.

[Jehan has never been this happy, he doesn't think. The ocean. The blue, warm ocean. He gets to see it again, gets to swim in it with his friends, gets to enjoy it. He's so happy.

Of course, he's taking a long moment to shed anything but his coat once the group gets to the edge. It's a beautiful shade of blue and he can't not admire it.]

Just...everything that is part of going to the shore. It's beautiful and terrible all at once, wild yet relaxing, and everyone is happier when they're out in the sun. Even Grantaire! Though that might be because of his wine.

I think the wine helps a great deal, but he does seem somewhat lighter than usual. Everyone does, but I imagine the temporary suspension of the rationing helps.

[Treading water in place, she gives the shoreline a look.]

I have to say I agree with you though. The water is capable of being relaxing, of pounding the shore in a way that you can feel it in your chest...and the sky is quite magnificent here.

I've never seen colors like the ones in the sky now. It almost makes me wish I could paint so I could capture them forever. I will have to make do with words, I supposed.

[Jehan sighs]

What about your world, Bryn? Did you ever visit the shore?

[trifurcate]

[Not being much of an artist herself, Bryn nods with understanding.]

Oh yes, many times actually. When I came of age I traveled a great deal, but even before then I had been to the beach a few times. My father has family out at the coast of the Aspurran province. It's not as warm, but there are green trees that line the edges of the mountains nearby, and there are sheer cliffs that offer the most incredible views.

[Asaria was much more like Tu Vishan, warm and sandy, with beautiful jewel blue waters.]

It sounds almost like what I've heard of England, with the cliffs. I never went, but I had friends who did. I imagine...Aspurran? I imagine it was less drizzly, however.

[trifurcate]

Most of the time there are just white clouds and wind. If it gets drizzling, it's only just a bit.

[Which she emphasizes by flicking water at him.]

[He laughs and flicks water back]

It sounds lovely, though I suppose some people might become tired of the sun if that's all there is. Never experiencing a rainstorm would be terrible, I think.

Mm, down the coast to Asaria you get more of the constant sun but I see your point. Living inland but traveling as often as I do, it matters little to me personally.

[And well. Flicking water back again because she's in a good mood and what fun is hanging out in the water with someone if you aren't going to splash at them?]

I'd like to see the world where you're from, and the worlds of others I've met here. They sound fascinating, and so different from my own.

[He splashes back.]

As would I. There are so many more worlds out that then even the most imaginative author could have created. I want to experience them all.

It's my hope that somehow we can make it back to our own worlds or travel to others. I'd gladly guide anyone around Askoupur, and I admit I would love to see France if possible.

[She ceases the splashing...for now. But there's a look in her eye that she means mischief, and after a moment dives under the water.]

I wi--Bryn?

[Jehan looks around, unable to spot her. Odd, since the water's so warm and clear, but he can't see her]

I hate it when people do this to me but I can't help but write it...

[trifurcate]

[Don't mind her, Jehan, she's swimming down near where your feet are. Once close enough, she reaches out to grasp both ankles and pulls him down before letting go and swimming a bit away to resurface with a gasp for air.]

[Jehan manages to get a gasp of air before being tugged down. He comes up, spluttering and soaked, a few moments after Bryn]

You did not...

[He's coughing a bit, but he's obviously not mad]

[trifurcate]

I did not what?

[She's trying to look innocent. Really she is, but that wide grin on her face makes it impossible for anyone to believe her, really.]

Are you alright, Jehan?

[poeticverses]

I'm quite alright. However...

[He dives under and instead of grabbing Bryn's ankles grabs her by the waist and pulls her down as best he can]

[Bryn doesn't really expect him to counter and play back as if she's one of the boys. So it takes her by surprise when Jehan gets her by the waist and pulls her down into the water. Letting out a surprised squawk of a laugh, she's all too easily sunk under the water with a small flail of limbs.]

[poeticverses]

[Normally, he wouldn't. However, Jehan is in a good mood and is of the mind that if the lady starts it (and it's just for fun, not because he offended her) then the lady deserves it.

He lets go, surfacing with a laugh]

[trifurcate]

[Bryn would be quick to agree that she absolutely deserves it, and so when she resurfaces with a laugh, she splashes water at him in earnest.

After all, half of the fun in going to the beach is a letting go and having fun in moment like this.]
