Jim nods. "Yeah, by all means. Lay on, MacDuff." And damned be he--

He packs up his stuff without another word, plan made, quick and efficient about it as he is with everything else. Bruce shoulders his pack and starts walking, leading at an easy pace.

"So, what do you do? In 2259." He has to admit to curiosity here. He's enough of a scientist that he doesn't think he'll ever get bored with hearing about other worlds or times.

"I," Jim says with significant aplomb. "Am a Starfleet captain. USS Enterprise, boldly going where no one has gone before, the whole nine yards. It's great." And he loves it, it's obvious in the fondness of his tone and the slight upward turn of his mouth. It's a muted affection, something deep and established rather than new and exciting, but it's there.

"We travel from world to world. There's a bunch of science involved, but that's more my First Officer's area of expertise than mine. I've got a pretty good grasp on all the various branches but..." he lifts one shoulder in a shrug. "Not really my speed."
