Situation: The X-Dudes are going camping! It's been a while since they've spent some quality time together, and there's a lot to catch up on.

It felt like it had been weeks since Santo had just sat down and had any bro time with Victor. Not that they always had to spend time together, but things had just been busy and tense lately, and Santo had spent so much time trying to keep at least one job to earn enough money for them, that it really started to seem like he only saw his best friend in the mornings when he left to go work more and in the evenings when he'd pretty much crash onto his bed right away.

If it didn't seem like that already, it became obvious when Santo found out that he was practically the last person to know that Victor had a boyfriend now.

So, leaving the city for a few days to try and find more solid stone that he could build his body out of just seemed like a good excuse to go camping and reconnect. Santo hadn't found anything much better than what he already had yet, but he was losing mass through general wear and tear, so he needed to build himself a new body. He wasn't that concerned though. Santo was more interested in camping out right now, poking at the small fire they'd built before pulling out the sack with the rations he'd saved for this.

"So... Do you want to tell me what's been going on now? Kind of feels like we haven't said more than a four words to each other lately," He shrugs, taking a piece of bread before passing a much larger one over to Victor.

Santo's just going to return that look with one of his own. Because, "Really? Couldn't you have just said it that way instead of making it sound a hundred times more awkward than it actually was?"

"Hey, I was just saying it like he said it," Victor counters. "It's not my fault your mind is in the gutter," he teases. Not that Victor's didn't go to the exact same place when Wally said it to him.

"Oh yeah?" He knows Victor well enough to be certain that his mind went to the exact same place. He's just giving his best friend a knowing look, squeezing his shoulder. "Sounds like Wally's was too... I'll have to talk to him about that."

Victor shoots Santo a little look. "No, you do not need to talk to Wally about anything like that. No need to talk with him about anything sex related."

"I don't know, dude. I think I might have to talk to him about it," Who knows if Santo is joking or not. "It's my business to make sure he respects you and doesn't try anything untoward."

"I'm more than capable of handling any attempts at him being untoward, grandpa," Victor rolls his eyes. "And what if I want him to make a move?"

"I know what it's like to be young and horny, Vic. I'm not letting you make stupid decisions," That's Santo's job. "Shouldn't you be the one making the move anyway?" Someone hasn't explained to Santo the dynamics of gay sex or that his friend might not be a top.

"Santo, did you forget who you're talking to?" Vic asks, arching a brow. "What are you talking about? There's no set rules about who can make moves."

"I know who you are, Victor..." Which means he doesn't get why the green mutant is asking. "So, what, you're waiting for him to get on his knees first?"

"Then you should know I come with built in anti-stupid decision protection," Vic rolls his eyes. "What?" he stares at Santo. "Who said I was waiting for that?"

Santo just stares at Victor for a moment, giving him such a look. "That is so not true it's not even funny."

"What isn't?" Victor asks, arching a brow.

"You totally don't have an anti-stupid decision protection, Victor. After all, you chose me as your best friend," He nudges the other mutant playfully.

Vic smiles and shrugs. "I never said it was fool-proof," he teases. "And I appreciate the concern, Santo...but I can't handle the sexual side of the relationship just fine on my own. We're not even there yet."

"You might want to see about getting your money back, because that's a pretty huge screw up, dude," And yeah, Santo knows that's a shot at himself too. "Yeah, well... Good. You better not rush into that stuff or I'll be the one in trouble."

Victor just shoots Santo a little look. "I don't think it is," he says simply. A brow is then quirked. "And how would you be in trouble?"

"Because you're my responsibility, dude," Santo says completely serious. He's not joking at all for once. "And when the guy screws up, I'm gonna have to be the one that kicks his ass."

Victor gives Santo a flat look. "Santo. If Wally screws up, what makes you think I'll leave you anything to kick?"

"If he screws up, what makes you think I won't kick his ass just because you got to it first?"

[alpha_squad_leader]

"Because he'd have already been kicked. Don't pick on the injured."

"Your boyfriends are exceptions to that rule," He huffs. "Right up there with Sentinels, Crusaders, and Hellfire toddlers."

[alpha_squad_leader]

"The rule doesn't apply to Sentinels because they're robots and tend to keep attacking even when damaged," Victor rolls his eyes. "And I'm saying now, if it gets to the point where Wally deserves an ass-kicking, I'll handle it. You're welcome to yell at him after but unless I'm too injured to do it...his ass is mine," he pauses a bit. "to kick."

Santo just gives Victor a look that clearly says that if Wally screws up, he's going to deal with him anyway. Victor is the most important person to him on this turtle, and seeing him upset is the last thing he wants to deal with. He won't let that happen if he can help it.

But he sighs and lets it go. He knows that he's getting into business he shouldn't be getting into. "Good think you caught that or I'd have to punch you, dude."

"I'm surprised you didn't anyway."

"I'm still thinking about it, but I don't want to be the only one hauling the stones back to our place."
