Characters: Inara & Finnick
Date: The day after This thread.
Location: Finnick's Suite
Situation: Finnick invited her over. Inara accepted.
Warnings/Rating: PG13 -- probably mention of physical intimacy.

Inara woke slowly to warm covers, sunlight streaming across her face, and a warm body next to her in the bed. It wasn't a thing she was used to anymore, but she found herself easily adjusting to the sensation.

It was hardly a bad one, after all.

Unwilling to wake him, Inara simply lays there and looks up at the ceiling, comfortable with the covers light over bare skin, her dress shed somewhere in the nebulous area of 'off the bed and on the floor'.

This was...nice. Comforting. Familiar.

He runs his fingers through her dark hair, letting the strands fall from his fingers. It's soft, lovely, even the morning after. There's no reason to get out of bed just yet. It's warm and quiet here, and he's not quite that ready to break the spell of the morning.

He listens with interest to what she says. Honestly, the only time he has ever felt content is with Annie. Finnick was safe with her. Then again, there had seldom been times when he stayed in bed with someone else for an entire night. "Has all of your company been business? That could be it. Sometimes, you just need to make your own choices, I think. Decide what you want instead of letting your duties lead you."

Duties is a light word for what Finnick did, but it's easy to say.

"Sounds like it would be. Not many people are going to want their personal life to be intruded on by such a personal kind of business. That's a hard thing to sacrifice for," Finnick says softly. He'd never have let Annie do what he did, or even what Inara does. Finnick doesn't even know if he could do what Inara does willingly.

But it's interesting to think about.

At her next comment, his eyebrow arches, the corners of his mouth lifting in a smirk. "I might be biased, but I think that's the kind of investigation worth going for."
