Event | Landfall | Diving & Sinbrilee
Characters: Any and every!
Date: August 10th - 31, 2013
Location: The sunken city of Sinbrilee
Situation: Tu Vishan comes upon the oceanfloor, holding his own memorial to the fall of his sister turtle while those upon his shell may explore the ruined city.
Warnings/Rating: Please place content warnings in subject headers!
Sinbrilee | Dreaming | Death

Art by Rica.
The city is lit by a warm orange glow, there are thousands of lanterns lit and burning brightly to ward off the gathering dark. It was once a grand, thriving place, and it's obvious by the quality of the Greco-Roman architecture, the high sweeping columns of white marble, the beautifully paved roads. There are aqueducts throughout the city that look as if they could be put to use today. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that the city's spent the last few hundred years underwater, it looks quite liveable. This city is entirely open to exploration, so feel free to send your character out to their heart's content. Remember, certain doorways will lead your characters into either Death or the Dreaming and these markings won't always be visible to them, so they should take care and be vigilant at all times!
Note: A separate post will be made for the events of the Bacchanal later in the month.

DIVING | AUGUST 10TH
Eventually, these disturbances trickle off and leave only one marked difference: The ground itself appears to have taken on a slight tilt as Tu Vishan angles downwards. The kedan prepared for this by securing anything with wheels and the angle of the decline is minor, but they play it better safe than sorry.
The edges of the shell offer the most significant shift, as there appears to be a steady rise of water against the barrier that many Foreigners have tested and have yet to best. By early afternoon, Tu Vishan has completely submerged and there is a press of water all about the barrier, but none of the water seeps in and the atmosphere in and about Keeliai remains quite adequate (and dry) for non-seafaring Foreigners and kedan.

why is the turtle diving oh god why
Rory, for better or for worse, spends a good part of the whole diving bit trying not to freak out but not really succeeding. After all the turtle is diving and if the barrier isn't good enough they're going to drown--
--of course, once Tu Vishan is halfway submerged and its clear that nothing is happening, Rory finally manages to get his senses back and point out the obvious fact that hey, nobody's drowning. That's something he can be assured of now, at least.
As the turtle spends the rest of the time diving underwater Rory is now just regarding it curiously, looking up as he watches the rest of the city going down into the sea.]

Of turtles diving, not of Rory. He definitely has no wariness of talking to total strangers, as he absently remarks,] This time, let's hope we can do it without the zombies. I'm not much of one for reruns.

We're going down. Shields up, all protected. Isn't that just amazing? I would of thought we'd spring a leak or something. Or just drown. So, yeah, this is much better.
[But then anything was really better than being drowned by an aloof turtle too stubborn to ever communicate and make friends (not that he was bitter).]
Hello Rory, haven't seen you lately. Enjoying the view? I saw it from my window and I had to get closer.
no subject
Anything's better than drowning. [Dryly.] And you're the one who's been running around without telling me where you went to.

"...Three point seven, max," he mutters to himself, but then realizes that oh hello they're on the back of a giant turtle and turtles don't have fault lines.
After that it's a mad scramble out to the square in Earth Sector, the tremors making his sneakers vibrate. The calmness of the Kedan is somewhat soothing...and somewhat unsettling. So either this happens a lot, or they're preparing themselves for some vast ritual that he's ignorant of. Occam's Razor...
And then he looks up. The sky is slowly, gradually deepening to indigo, hours before sunset. And in the distance, he can hear the lapping of water, rushing and gurgling up the sides of something, like an overfull bathtub. Another glance to the kedan's stalls...and oh, hey, why are all their wares hanging at 65 degree angles?
"...Oh my god we're diving under water."
let me know if this isn't okay >.> no harm done
This place was still new to her. Being on the back of a giant turtle was still very new to her, so she didn't put the pieces together until someone dared to actually say it out loud. "What?"
Of course, Rebecca. It's a turtle. Did she really expect it to stay on top of the water forever? This was cause for concern.
//two thumbs up!
"We're diving. Under water. The freakin' turtle is going down. With us on the back. And everybody seems to have taken a big old dose of downers because apparently? They don't care!"
He presses his palm to his forehead, gobsmacked by the reality that was this turtley world.
"Hi. Stiles. Nice to meet you, under the circumstances."

When she does wake up, she throws her clothes on and runs out of the building, a little stunned]

OTA | tw: violent thoughts
[ Drowning may be the on thing which Yaha fears. The idea of being on a giant turtle is all well and good, but the creature is diving. Fear is an interesting sensation. One that chokes and brings involuntary shivers all across the body. One that makes him wish to sit down upon the ground and let the trembles continue until everything stops. Or drag a blade across the throat -- his or someone else's, well, he hasn't decided. But he's not dead in his world.
He looks now for the elf that promised to be there for him. To go to him if he is in need. But that one is nowhere in sight. Why? Why is he left alone? Ah, so he is being punished in the end. Clever. So clever. But Urick is with him. Even as he wanders frantically, even as sometimes he finds himself standing still and frightened against a wall, even in those pathetic times... Urick is looking upon his dying body in his world. In the world where time is stopped.
Yes, he will be all right.
Or so he keeps telling himself. ]

But she notices the man on her way to work, looking panicky and out of it, and she can't help but approach. ] Hey. [ She tilts her head a little, smile sympathetic. ] Are you alright?
no subject
Her expression. Yes, he knows what she's asking him -- the urge to lash out is there, but he's already feeling weak. ]

Oh, don't give me this kind of shit.
[... Except his measurements depended on having the Sun or stars, which meant not being under the damn ocean.]
Dick Grayson | possible cw character death
This time? It brought up memories of the jiangshi. Dick's automatic knee-jerk reaction is panic that has bubbled down to anxiety. Still, he's walking through the streets of Keeliai like someone who's incredibly jittery and nervous. He keeps glancing at the barrier as if he's worried about something.]

[Well. Damian has secured a bike, which eventually rumbles to a stop beside Dick.]
I will go see if there are any.
[Corpses. In the water, outside the barrier.]
Do you want to come?
no subject
[Dick hesitates, but something in him compels him to answer.]
Yeah.
[He doesn't want Damian to go alone. And maybe, just maybe, he's pushing himself to face his fear.
Fear has no place in an acrobat's heart.]

[Hayley offers a smile as she comes up on the young Clark, climbing over a few of the scattered rocks and ruins to get to where he is at the barrier. She's in her usual jeans, tanktop, and red jacket, with her messenger bag slung over her shoulder, looking just as much like she's about to walk to school as climbing around in a destroyed, underwater city.]

She's aware this may never happen, considering how her world is, but she plans on enjoying this fully.
Once the shaking has settled, she can be found outside her home, watching the seas darken around them as the turtle dives.

[Having figured out what was happening early on (the Scarab? also has a great internal compass!), Jaime's waited until the mid-afternoon to go outside, fly up to land on a branch above his suite in the Wood Sector, and observe the ocean outside Tu Vishan's barrier.
And it's an amazing view, to be sure: it's like sitting on the inside of a snowglobe, with the water and all the sparkles and fixings on the outside. Odd sea life swims by, neatly avoiding the barrier; there are rock formations and what looks coral reefs in all colors and sizes. The whole sight is worth being a little disoriented.]
