Event | Landfall | Diving & Sinbrilee
Characters: Any and every!
Date: August 10th - 31, 2013
Location: The sunken city of Sinbrilee
Situation: Tu Vishan comes upon the oceanfloor, holding his own memorial to the fall of his sister turtle while those upon his shell may explore the ruined city.
Warnings/Rating: Please place content warnings in subject headers!
Sinbrilee | Dreaming | Death

Art by Rica.
The city is lit by a warm orange glow, there are thousands of lanterns lit and burning brightly to ward off the gathering dark. It was once a grand, thriving place, and it's obvious by the quality of the Greco-Roman architecture, the high sweeping columns of white marble, the beautifully paved roads. There are aqueducts throughout the city that look as if they could be put to use today. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that the city's spent the last few hundred years underwater, it looks quite liveable. This city is entirely open to exploration, so feel free to send your character out to their heart's content. Remember, certain doorways will lead your characters into either Death or the Dreaming and these markings won't always be visible to them, so they should take care and be vigilant at all times!
Note: A separate post will be made for the events of the Bacchanal later in the month.

Holiday also has a few reasons to easily cope with strange happenings, but those were usually backed up by some sort of science. This was no such thing... as far as she could tell so far.
"Anything you're particularly hungry for?"
no subject
He grins at her, and points at a nearby stand, street food at its finest, at least for Earth sector.
"Honestly? I've been going there for the last few dinners. They make a really good pad thai. ...Do you like spicy food?"
no subject
"I do, actually. I haven't had any sort of food like that in a long time." Back home, it was basically a lot of burgers and sometimes a salad when she felt like she cared a little bit.
no subject
He leads her over to the stand, a short walk, and grins at the kedan. Ever since Jack Frost's suggestion/reminder that he treat them as people, he's been doing his best to be polite and friendly to them.
"May I please have two bowls of the pad thai? Thank you."
no subject
Holiday sat next to him at the stand, happy to have some different sort of food for a change. She was also kind of pleased to be called by her first name here, too. That didn't happen often back home.
"So, I gather that you're accustomed to impending disaster scenarios. You're quite well put together."
no subject
He grins at her as the food is dished up from a large copper kettle, steaming and fragrant and spicy enough to make eyes water.
"You're in for a treat, this is some awesome food. And cheap, too."
no subject

The food is served to their table, and the asking prices is one juulan. Super cheap! But good nonetheless. No wonder Stiles has been coming here for several dinners, he gets two for one coin.
He digs in to his meal with his chopsticks, surprisingly deft with them.
no subject
Holiday hands over one of her juulan for their food. "This looks good. I've never had this before." She picks up her chopsticks, too, to eat and try it out. She's also pretty skilled with her own. Comes with working around the world.
no subject
Maybe she was a little older than he thought, if she was legally guarding a teenager. Not that it mattered, really.
"He's not here, is he?"
There's a lot of that going around, people pulled away from their families and friends to this place. It's honestly more than a little disturbing.
no subject
"No. It doesn't seem like anyone from my home is around here, or I just haven't run across them yet. What about you? Have someone here you knew from before?"
since this was before Scott & Isaac arrived
He looks really upset by that, too. Apparently there's more to this than just plain old confusion and loneliness.
"I don't know if I want them to get here or not."
no subject
"Why do you say that?"
no subject
"Well, you know. Land between dreaming and death. So if any of my friends show up, they'll either be in the same boat I am, or dead. And I don't think I can handle the metaphysics of that just yet."
no subject

He doesn't want to sound too weird and nerdy to somebody who wouldn't follow him. His leaps of logic and hyper intuition could sometimes put people off, if they weren't used to dealing with ADHD people.
no subject
"I have thought about it. I never believed in an alternate universe before, but that's my only explanation. Otherwise, I think I'm just dreaming most of the time..."
Can you blame her?
no subject
His attention is grabbed by that now, putting everything else he was just thinking of on hold as he gloms on to this new topic. He's never met anybody who's been into nanotech, in the real world. It's getting close, but so much is still in the realm of science fiction.
The world is getting darker and darker with every passing league under the sea. Lights are coming on all over Keeliai, twinkling like stars in the heavens.
"Do you manufacture it? Or code its software?"
no subject
She smiles back to Stiles at the question. "I'm working on recoding them, actually. It's a pretty long story, but I'm basically just trying to correct someone's five year old mistake."
And it wasn't just in computer programming either.
no subject
And already his nerdy little brain is jumping ahead, and you can almost see it in his eyes, the way he's making jumps in logic that defy most rational thought.
"You can't recode nanotech, though. You'd have to introduce a new strain of it into the...breeding pool, I guess you'd call it. They're like viruses. Virulent strains can recreate themselves...oh! Is it the kind of nanotech that can reproduce itself? That is kinda important I guess."
no subject
a geek like hersmart about science! Holiday smiled to him while barely holding back her laugh on the virus simile."Yeah, that's the problem, basically. They aren't meant to be recoded. The ones at our home--we call the Nanites--have unfinished programming in them. It's not as simple as introducing a new strain, like an average virus. We've done that hundreds and thousands of times, but they refuse to recode, just deactivate.
"And yes, they reproduce, but it's a slow process."
no subject
"Wow. That's so cool. There's some promising research where I'm from, but nothing's really happening with it yet. They keep saying it'll help cure cancer and stuff."
A subject very dear to his heart...
no subject
But not in such a large way, though. She wasn't sure how much she should tell the people here about the Nanites.
