Event | Landfall | Diving & Sinbrilee
Characters: Any and every!
Date: August 10th - 31, 2013
Location: The sunken city of Sinbrilee
Situation: Tu Vishan comes upon the oceanfloor, holding his own memorial to the fall of his sister turtle while those upon his shell may explore the ruined city.
Warnings/Rating: Please place content warnings in subject headers!
Sinbrilee | Dreaming | Death

Art by Rica.
The city is lit by a warm orange glow, there are thousands of lanterns lit and burning brightly to ward off the gathering dark. It was once a grand, thriving place, and it's obvious by the quality of the Greco-Roman architecture, the high sweeping columns of white marble, the beautifully paved roads. There are aqueducts throughout the city that look as if they could be put to use today. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that the city's spent the last few hundred years underwater, it looks quite liveable. This city is entirely open to exploration, so feel free to send your character out to their heart's content. Remember, certain doorways will lead your characters into either Death or the Dreaming and these markings won't always be visible to them, so they should take care and be vigilant at all times!
Note: A separate post will be made for the events of the Bacchanal later in the month.

THE AGORA
Aug 12th, Santo, Vic, and Wally
"Okay, this place is actually pretty cool," Victor remarks, examining a small marble pillar. He runs gloved fingers along it very carefully before turning to his companions. "So where should we head first?"
Re: Aug 12th, Santo, Vic, and Wally
Once they'd actually made it to the city, Wally began zipping about the immediate area, getting a good lookout on things, making sure things were the same as a couple of days before, before zipping back to Vic and Santo.
"Weeeellllll, we could wander around and see what goodies are lying about." At that point, he reached into his pocket and dug out a couple of silver coins. "Found these the other day; might be more of 'em lying around."
no subject
But dead turtle ghost city! That sounded like something cool! And ghosts were actually things that Santo wasn't all that afraid of (despite the fact they'd be more rational for him than his usual fears).
For the moment though, he's just hanging back, looking around them as Wally and Victor survey the surroundings, hands stuffed in his hoodie pockets. It's not like he's trying to interrupt their boyfriend time, though it's not that he wasn't either, but the two guys were his family, and he'd been losing more of that lately... And they obviously needed a chaperon to keep things proper.
"What's the best thing to see around here?" Because obviously the two should know. "Because we should go see that... And I vote relaxing things for once. Ghost massages or bar fights, preferably."
no subject
He looks up as Santo speaks and quirks a brow. "I don't think there are many bar fights here, Santo. And how does one get a ghost massage?"

Ororo & Korra | Naga
She stops to eye a scrap of cloth laid out on an old marble surface. It's a curious bit, green inlaid with silver threads in a cloudlike pattern and she picks it up for a closer look -- only to have the marble crumble away.
There's a snuffle in the dust that rises from the collapse, then a sneeze. Weird. Ororo looks around to see if she can find the source... and comes face to face with a giant polar bear... dog?
The creature is staring at her and she finds herself staring back, adhering to the number one rule of survival: It can't see you if you don't move.]
Um. Nice... doggie? [What? Beats saying 'nice bear' in her books -- that could inspire it to, y'know, try to eat her.] Don't bite me, I won't shock you. Deal?
no subject
When Korra was kneeled down, picking another one up she heard a sneeze. Not a human sneeze, a very loud animal’s sneeze. After a moment of finding the direction it came from, Korra recognized it as her polar bear dog’s. Or maybe she was just hoping that it was since all that was here were ghosts. Standing up, Korra let the gem slip out of her hand as she brought two fingers to her mouth.
A loud whistle caused the large polar bear dog’s ears to perk up and she barked loudly, then she looked from the girl that called her nice, licking her face before abruptly trying to pick her up, whether it was by saddle or by carrying her by the scruff of her neck (or shirt); eager to bring her to Korra. ’Look what I found!’
After whistling, Korra listened and she heard the heavy padding and sure enough, bounding around a corner came the familiar white furred animal she had tamed long ago.
“Naga!”
no subject
Whoa doggie! Nelly! Bessie?
[Each word comes out on a downwards bound as Ororo is quite literally carried (and dragged) all the way to where Korra is standing.]
Don't-- [Bounce.] I'll do it-- [Bounce.] I mean it! [Bounce.]
[There's a stirring of air and a crackle of electricity with that last bounce as Ororo haphazardly tries to get her focus together to make good on her thread.]
Rover, stop!

Open!!
This was infinitely more interesting than disintegrating fabric and greed stooped down to pick the gem up, now finding that the general area was littered with them. Now, gem collecting was definitely a worthwhile pastime, and the man had pretty deep pockets in both this coat and his pants, so with renewed gusto he returned to his full height and began winding a meandering path through the area, stopping every time he came to another little cluster of gems.
no subject
Coming back from one of those brief separations she came up silently just behind him as he dove after a number of the gems, raising a brow briefly. "What did you find?"
no subject
"You should probably get some too. I don't think we're gonna be around here very long" The dark haired man gave a little nod before rising from the crouching position he'd been in. He dusted himself off then and since his pockets were full had no choice but to put his hands casually on his hips.

Dinah | OTA
She tried to look at some cloth closely, but when that crumbled in her fingers she left well enough alone, moving her head closer instead of trying to touch any more.]
no subject
Even so, even dry, the city of Sinbrilee reminds him of feeling like he belongs. He looks at home winding through the former marketplace, a canvas bag for small treasures and his trident slung across his back. He spots Dinah fairly easily and makes his way over with a casual stride and, if not a smile, a relaxed look on his face.] It's still lovely after all this time, isn't it?
no subject
Beautiful. Very Themysciran, I was just thinking.
[Though, she realizes after saying it, that is probably an opinion he is unqualified to share.]
I feel like an archaeologist, picking up these things.

He feels kind of like a treasure hunter, though. A really cool one. Billy's not really a collector of coins back home, but these really were... something else. And other people were doing it too! So maybe it wasn't a bad thing.]
Watch out, the cloth here really doesn't like to be touched. [Like the cloth had a mind of it's own, and he grinned at her, a little cautiously, though. Had to watch out with strangers.]

I noticed. Now I understand all those guards at the Museum of Art that watch you from two feet away every time you try to get a closer look at something.

Closed to Clark (MoS), Jor-El, and Kara Zor-El
He also is taking the opportunity to walk with Jor-El, getting used to the teacher-pupil relationship they've put on easier than he thinks he could get used to the father-son relationship they actually have. He stops at a stall to admire the decaying curtain before quickly moving on to catch up with Jor-El the next stall over.
no subject
When Kal-El idles behind for a moment to look at something, Jor-El cannot help but watch his son, still amazed at the opportunity he has been given. He is still watching when Kal-El moves to catch up with him.
no subject
As he turned Kara saw Jor-El's face, and she waved to him from down the isle. It took her a moment to recognize the boy he had with him.
"Hello Uncle! Hello Clark."

The ruins had been a surprise. The ghosts even more so. She hadn't expected to be flocked. Questions about hair care and skin care-- and perhaps one or two who called her out on indecent exposure-- occurring before they finally lost interest and left her alone. All, of course, except for a young woman who had taken it upon herself to chat happily to her. She was nice, albeit a little more translucent than she was used to, and so Diana found herself staying put and chatting despite the places she has yet to see. It was nice, after all, to see it from the perspective of a... local. Of course, that didn't mean she was getting the answers she wanted to know.]
And you do not recall what happened here at all? [A loud sigh comes from her companion, but it was more wistful than annoyed as the girl cups her face in one hand and rests her elbow on the other.]
Oh believe me, I would've told you if I remembered. You know, I had quite a good life before!
You don't seem all that disappointed right now either. [Diana smiles a bit at that, observing her.] In fact, I would say you seem happier than some others I have met here.
Oh, you are so sweet! Don't make me blush. Now, let me tell you about the time...
[Feel free to run into Diana and her ghostly friend, though her companion might excuse herself if any intrusion occurs.]

[Kal is wearing the Superman suit right now, but when he speaks his voice is very much Clark Kent's. He'd been around a year in this place, and he'd been extremely lucky about the company he'd gotten (his best friend, his wife, his family...) He hadn't complained even once.
But now Diana is here and he hadn't realized how much he missed his friend until he sees her. Bruce was like his brother, but he never- no one ever understood what it meant to be them, no one got it like Diana did.
He runs to her, reaching to wrap her into a hug. He'll excuse himself to her ghostly friend later if she's still around, of course- but first comes hugging.]
Oh Rao Diana I'm so, so glad to see you.
no subject
She feels bad when she feels the embrace, yet again another meeting she knew was going to end up with disappointment when she realized she didn't recognize him either. Her ghostly companion excused herself, misinterpreting the situation as she giggled and took her leave, and Diana was left to figure out how to deal with this situation. The lack of response to the hug may have been extended a little too long.]
