Event | Landfall | Diving & Sinbrilee

Characters: Any and every!
Date: August 10th - 31, 2013
Location: The sunken city of Sinbrilee
Situation: Tu Vishan comes upon the oceanfloor, holding his own memorial to the fall of his sister turtle while those upon his shell may explore the ruined city.
Warnings/Rating: Please place content warnings in subject headers!

Sinbrilee | Dreaming | Death

Art by Rica.

The city is lit by a warm orange glow, there are thousands of lanterns lit and burning brightly to ward off the gathering dark. It was once a grand, thriving place, and it's obvious by the quality of the Greco-Roman architecture, the high sweeping columns of white marble, the beautifully paved roads. There are aqueducts throughout the city that look as if they could be put to use today. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that the city's spent the last few hundred years underwater, it looks quite liveable. This city is entirely open to exploration, so feel free to send your character out to their heart's content. Remember, certain doorways will lead your characters into either Death or the Dreaming and these markings won't always be visible to them, so they should take care and be vigilant at all times!

Note: A separate post will be made for the events of the Bacchanal later in the month.

Then sign me up for finding things between the rock and the hard place. [Said as she catches the jewel and looks at it with wide eyes and-- wait. That sounded like a command...]

What do you mean, 'kiss--

[Ororo doesn't get the rest of that question out of her mouth before Naga demonstrates how EXCELLENT a polar bear dogs kisses can be, knocking her down in the process.

And she's going to deny that startled shriek, for the record.]
alphatar: (Laughing)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-08-23 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[The laughing would stop, eventually. Introducing friends to Naga when they weren’t in the middle of a conflict with Equalists was new and Korra was enjoying every second of it.]

Easy girl. [It could be contested that Korra’s own kisses bore the force of Naga’s; but the only two on Tu Vishan that could attest to that weren’t present. After putting loading up the saddle bags, Korra scratched Naga’s ear and looked to Ororo.]

Guess you just really lucked out then. Naga’s an incredible tracker, she can find more of those if she gets a whiff. [Korra motioned at the gem Ororo held.] I have no idea if that’s the kind of money they used here, but the kedan mind be interested in buying them.

[She grinned slyly.]

Or you could just make a little treasure chest of them.

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-08-24 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ororo hauls herself up to a sitting position, taking a second to eye the gem in her hand. It's juvenile, maybe, but... didn't they say diamonds were a girl's best friend? What about basic acquaintances? Surely any jewel would do... Hm.]

Fetches, kisses, and tracks down riches? I'd say you're the lucky one by having Naga.

[Ororo tosses the gem back at Korra before she gets back to her feet, a nudge of wind helping her catch some spring in the motion.]

Let's go treasure hunting. I could use me a few new gem-bought wardrobes.
alphatar: (Naga in the snow)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-08-25 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You have no idea how right you are. [Korra petted Naga before nuzzling her face into the white fur. Glad to have her back. Had it not been for Naga, Korra would have either been found by my Amon's equalists or died from frostbite.]

You got it! [Catching the gem with one hand, Korra let Naga sniff it before she stuffed it into the saddlebag and hopped onto the saddle. She held out her hand down to Ororo.]

The ride's a lot better from up here. [Finding them wouldn't be the problem. Not having enough room in the bags, that was the real issue.] We can split up evenly when we're full up.
storm_warning: (Nice bike)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-08-25 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ororo watches the PDA that Korra has with Naga, a distant look overcoming her expression. How long has it been since she's been able to do that with anything or anyone? Too long, she decides with a sigh, shaking off the longing and taking Korra's hand.]

Done deal, Korra.

[And, with a grasp of the hand, the deal is set and Ororo hauls herself up behind Korra -- with said Avatar's help and another spring funded by the wind, of course.]

You been here long?

[Asked as she tries to settle on the best way to hold on without pulling fur or being too awkward.]
alphatar: (Surprised what)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-08-26 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Three months now, feels a lot longer than that though. [Every time Naga stopped to dig at the ground for gem or bark at where one was underneath some of the ruins, Korra simply earthbent to get them into one of the saddlebags. Dismounting and remounting every time would have been too much.]

What about you? I know some foreigners are from the first wave. [Namorita was one that came off the top of her head. When they had been still for too long, Korra leaned forward to see what Naga was doing.]

Naga, NO! Don’t eat- [Too late. The polar bear dog looked back at her, licking it’s chop.] …How did you eat that?

[Korra looked concernedly over at Ororo. Her animal companion just ate a beautiful rock and she had no idea what to do about that.]
storm_warning: (Erp)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-08-26 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ororo's seen her share of weird, but that weird gesture Korra keeps making that pops the gems up out of the ground distracts her each time. Mutant manners states no staring and all, but it sure distracts her from time to time.]

A year, maybe more. I didn't make first but--

[Wait. Ororo cuts herself off with the fuss about Naga, and seeing Korra's expression plucks a string of concern.]

Whoa, I'm sure it's fine. It wasn't a twenty carat deal or nothing, right?

[Said with an air of feigned nonchalance to reassure Korra as she slides off of Naga and walks around to her front. The polar bear dog looks quite... satiated from that, rather than... well. Gem-iated.]

Naga, was that tasty?

[Asked with a dubious air.]
alphatar: (snarky talk)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-08-26 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Swinging her leg over, Korra hopped off as well. Naga however, was very content and happily licking her doggy lips and gave a yawn that had more bass than any radio in any car on Keeliai. Except for maybe Jim’s.]

I guess so?

[Then Naga sniffed the ground and padded along another foot before digging up another gem. Korra reached down and picked up it. With a few whiffs of her hand, she bended the dirt off it so it was clean.]

Feel brave? [She asked with a half smirk as she held it between herself and Ororo.]
storm_warning: (Huh?)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-08-26 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ororo leaned away from the gem, her nose scrunching up with distaste.]

You just dug that out of the ground, ew!

[Yeah, she did the gesture thing, but Ororo doesn't really know what that means aside from it kicked a bit of dirt off it.]
alphatar: (Thinking)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-08-26 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, she did. [Pointing at Naga, Korra grinned.] But don't worry, my earthbending's mastered, so trust me when I say there isn't a speck of dirt or dust on it.

[Looking at the gem with some apprehension, Korra let out an exhale of determination and popped it into her mouth. At the very least, it would just taste like a rock and she'd just spit it out.

Instead, she ended up turning it over in her mouth and was looking upwards as she taste tested it. After a bit of munching, she swallowed it.
]

Not bad. [She said with a stiff lower lip of approval.]
storm_warning: (Erp)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-08-27 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Ororo rolls her eyes over the semantics. Had she a moment to think, she might feel it odd to feel so relaxed around a veritable stranger, but... this feels cool. Right. Like they're just sisters from another dimension. It's odd, but the odder thing that has her attention is the fact that it's happy hour for jewel munching around here.]

Not bad? What's up with that? You're saying it tastes like food?

[Ororo holds her hand out for one -- they've scavanged enough -- and maybe she wants to see for herself what's up.]
alphatar: (Cocky smug)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-08-27 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[being easy going, even Korra felt like she had befriended Ororo before, somehow. Licking the little bits off her gums, Korra nodded slowly.]

Yeah, I thought it was just going to taste like rock, but that really hit the spot.

[She patted her tummy and it made a robust thumping noise and she gave a toothy smile. Guiding Naga with her hand, Korra fetched out one of the gems from the saddle bags and waved her hand to bend off any dirt on it, then placed it in Ororo’s palm.]

Hope you’re hungry. [She scratched Naga’s ear, if her new friend never found her animal companion, finding these things would have taken a lot longer.]
storm_warning: (Shock?)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-08-27 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ororo eyes it curiously and dubiously all at the same time, sniffing it once before she does a taste test with her tongue. It doesn't taste like ground, so she sets it on her tongue and draws it back into her mouth, crunching delicately down on it.]

Whoa...

[That's an explosion of flavour in her mouth. Ororo instinctively starts to chew it, nodding slowly as it settles in. There's something surreal about eating a diamond, but it tastes delicious.]

Whoa, hold the phones. [She swallows and man that is satisfying.] That was like sex, just... edible. Holy crap.

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-08-28 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Korra opened her mouth to agree with her. That was as far as she got though and her eyes widened, a dry, long 'Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah' went on until her voice folded in on itself and ended in a tiny squeak.

Which only made Naga perk her ears up and look sideways at Korra. That was a new sound and it was important to find out if that was Naga talk or people talk.

[Ororo looks at Korra, a flash of concern that this is some sort of side effect of eating the gems.]

Cat got your tongue?
alphatar: (Snappy nervous)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-09-09 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no. It’s, I just-

[That analogy completely came out of left field and knocked Korra’s brain out for a few seconds.]

Nothing. They have a lot of kick to them, yeah. [She scratched the back her head and gave a sheepish smile.]

But now I don’t know if I should keep them or eat them. [Selling them might have been an option, but she rather liked how they tasted.]
storm_warning: (Eyyyyebrow)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-09-13 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[That eases her paranoia a bit and Ororo nods it off. Korra's not dead from gems, so that's good.]

That depends, girlfriend. You the kind to sell off your favourite chocolates?

[Because she meant that 'sex' comment when it comes to taste satisfaction. This is not something you just... hand out like candy.]

Keep the lot for a rainy day is what I'd say.
alphatar: (Naga my BFF)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-09-13 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[’Sex’ and ‘taste satisfaction’ should not be in the same sentence. Breaking the Avatar’s mind isn’t what Korra would be expecting today.]

Nah, I don’t think I’d sell them. My job’s really good about paying me and even gives me food.

[Patting one of the saddle bags to hear the gems tinkle around, Korra grinned.]

Next trip out here I’m bringing along some extra sacks and we can just dig up what we can while Asti’s letting us visit. [He was visiting a dead sibling, Korra knew that, and addressing it as such would have brought her down.]

For now though we can test out the flavors [Taste the rainbow.] and split the haul from there. Whatcha’ think?
storm_warning: (Erp)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-09-13 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Then let us not embark into the territory of food kinks, shall we?]

Whoa, what silver platter shindig did you find that feeds you?

[Envy? Maybe. Depends on what they're feeding Korra.]
alphatar: (Confident self assured)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-09-15 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it’s pretty humble actually. I’m fisher for Finnick’s- well, Jack’s seafood company. There’s a number, a quota, of fish to catch daily and anything in excess of that I get to keep.

[Korra folded her arms and gave Ororo an incredibly proud smile, complimented by an incredibly brief, but pointed waggle in her eyebrows.]

Waterbending makes that a breeze and I usually end up giving a nice chunk of my extra catch to the business anyway. [Living off of fish is so normal for her that her food bill was pretty minimal thanks to it.]
storm_warning: (Smug)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-09-15 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a falter at that name -- Finnick -- and it takes her a second to compose a reply. She and he have been flirting circles around each other for months, but he's distant. Hurting. It reminds her of Hank and that, in turn, brings up a lot of hurt. She's part masochist for ever indulging it and it'll only hurt more if he disappears the way Brandon did, but--

Ororo stops herself. Shakes her head. Even crosses her arms and finds a smug expression to mask over her real emotions.]

Sounds fishy.

[Just sayin'.]

That waterbending... it's the same as the weird earth thing you did, right?
alphatar: (Orly)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-09-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Thinking Ororo just found her profession underwhelming, considering the shake of the head and smug look, Korra gave coy look of her own.]

Even smells fishy. But yeah, they're both doing all right with the business. [Pointing a thumb at herself without unfolding her arms, Korra's voice dropped to one of smooth sarcasm.]

Thanks to yours truly.

[Actually the only two fishers they had were her and Traci, so that statement was half true.]

Yeah. Weird earth, water, fire, or air stuff. That's my specialty. Well, it's more complicated than that, but sure. We can go with weird.
storm_warning: (Braced to the wind)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-09-16 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Weird's good. [Truth, coming from a mutant, but Ororo offers the affirmation more to reassure Korra in case her words were misunderstood. It's not like she's aiming for being all PC or anything -- don't get her wrong at all. Just. Whatever. She's just offering a few words and don't need much reading into it.] Weird's a step off normal and who wants to be normal?
alphatar: (Looking up)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-09-16 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[A chuckle.]

Trust me, I’m with you on that one. [She had never imagined what her life would be like if she wasn’t the Avatar, and she wasn’t about to start now.] It comes with its perks. [Bending all four elements was incredibly convenient and sometimes, when Korra was on her high Avatar ostrich-horse, she wasn’t sure how her friends even managed without it.]

Now, I need to ask you a question because of your color. [She turned very serious as she put her hands on her hips and looked at Ororo without a trace of humor.]

…Are you a moon spirit?

[After meeting Jack and him having white hair, she had to ask that of Ororo now too. It was a rare color after all, and even Jack said his hair was changed by the Moon. Or the Man in the Moon rather.]
storm_warning: (Oh-My-God)

[personal profile] storm_warning 2013-09-16 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[The light turn of the conversation hits a brick wall at the colour comment. Ororo faces more discrimination for her powers than her skintone, but her life's not been without racism and she's careful with that. Her posture tenses and her arms come up, crossing subconsciously. Defensively.]

Yeah?

[Then, the question hits. She's braced for something a lot less... THAT and she stares at Korra.]

Hell no, I'm not. [And it sounds like she's talking to an alien or something, because what kind of question was that?] I'm just a mutant, not some whacked out spirit.
