Event | Landfall | Diving & Sinbrilee
Characters: Any and every!
Date: August 10th - 31, 2013
Location: The sunken city of Sinbrilee
Situation: Tu Vishan comes upon the oceanfloor, holding his own memorial to the fall of his sister turtle while those upon his shell may explore the ruined city.
Warnings/Rating: Please place content warnings in subject headers!
Sinbrilee | Dreaming | Death

Art by Rica.
The city is lit by a warm orange glow, there are thousands of lanterns lit and burning brightly to ward off the gathering dark. It was once a grand, thriving place, and it's obvious by the quality of the Greco-Roman architecture, the high sweeping columns of white marble, the beautifully paved roads. There are aqueducts throughout the city that look as if they could be put to use today. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that the city's spent the last few hundred years underwater, it looks quite liveable. This city is entirely open to exploration, so feel free to send your character out to their heart's content. Remember, certain doorways will lead your characters into either Death or the Dreaming and these markings won't always be visible to them, so they should take care and be vigilant at all times!
Note: A separate post will be made for the events of the Bacchanal later in the month.

When Korra was kneeled down, picking another one up she heard a sneeze. Not a human sneeze, a very loud animal’s sneeze. After a moment of finding the direction it came from, Korra recognized it as her polar bear dog’s. Or maybe she was just hoping that it was since all that was here were ghosts. Standing up, Korra let the gem slip out of her hand as she brought two fingers to her mouth.
A loud whistle caused the large polar bear dog’s ears to perk up and she barked loudly, then she looked from the girl that called her nice, licking her face before abruptly trying to pick her up, whether it was by saddle or by carrying her by the scruff of her neck (or shirt); eager to bring her to Korra. ’Look what I found!’
After whistling, Korra listened and she heard the heavy padding and sure enough, bounding around a corner came the familiar white furred animal she had tamed long ago.
“Naga!”
no subject
Whoa doggie! Nelly! Bessie?
[Each word comes out on a downwards bound as Ororo is quite literally carried (and dragged) all the way to where Korra is standing.]
Don't-- [Bounce.] I'll do it-- [Bounce.] I mean it! [Bounce.]
[There's a stirring of air and a crackle of electricity with that last bounce as Ororo haphazardly tries to get her focus together to make good on her thread.]
Rover, stop!
no subject
Put her down.
[Naga opened her mouth just enough to release her new hooman frand and Korra bounded forward to put her arms around Naga’s neck as best she could.]
Sorry, she must have really liked you. [Withdrawing, Korra looked over at Ororo. Which to Korra was a reasonable excuse to drag someone around.]
I’m Korra, and this is Naga. She’s my polar bear dog. I don’t suppose you know how she ended up here?
[It was a long shot, but Korra thought she could at least ask how Naga managed to be under the ocean in the ruins atop a dead, gigantic turtle.]
no subject
Yeah. That's... great. Usually, I just get fanmail when people like me. This is new.
[Said as she shakes off the daze and gets to her feet, dusting off her jeans.]
Uh. I don't have a clue, girl. [And she doesn't mean it in a condescending manner; Ororo's tone is a bit guarded, but light as she looks over the polar bear... dog.] I mean, we don't even have polar bear... dogs -- [???] --back home.
[A fact that's having her look curiously at Naga. So strange and yet... cute.]
So your guess is as good as mine. [Right, an introduction happened somewhere in there.] And name's Ororo.
no subject
Good to meet you then Ororo, you brought my best friend back to me.
[Maybe that’s not exactly what just happened, but Korra wasn’t about to nitpick over details.]
Were you picking these up too? [She held up a gem from her sling bag while she made her way to put them in- saddlebags? Raising an eyebrow, Korra looked at Naga who just happily smiled.]
no subject
No big deal. Good Samaritan, that's me.
[All said with a measure of distraction at Naga, but then -- oh. Hello. Gems are a girl's best friend and Korra just flashed some beauties at her.]
Whoa. Where'd you find those? Tiffany's having a sidewalk sale or something?
no subject
I don’t know a Tiffany, but if they’re selling these then I got some bad news. These are all over the place, or ‘under’ really.
[Seeing Ororo looking at Naga was cute to Korra. She tossed the gem at Ororo, and she waited until the girl caught it before giving a command:]
Naga: kisses.
[Giving her new acquaintance a crash course on Naga loves was something Korra would likely enjoy.]
no subject
What do you mean, 'kiss--
[Ororo doesn't get the rest of that question out of her mouth before Naga demonstrates how EXCELLENT a polar bear dogs kisses can be, knocking her down in the process.
And she's going to deny that startled shriek, for the record.]
no subject
Easy girl. [It could be contested that Korra’s own kisses bore the force of Naga’s; but the only two on Tu Vishan that could attest to that weren’t present. After putting loading up the saddle bags, Korra scratched Naga’s ear and looked to Ororo.]
Guess you just really lucked out then. Naga’s an incredible tracker, she can find more of those if she gets a whiff. [Korra motioned at the gem Ororo held.] I have no idea if that’s the kind of money they used here, but the kedan mind be interested in buying them.
[She grinned slyly.]
Or you could just make a little treasure chest of them.
no subject
Fetches, kisses, and tracks down riches? I'd say you're the lucky one by having Naga.
[Ororo tosses the gem back at Korra before she gets back to her feet, a nudge of wind helping her catch some spring in the motion.]
Let's go treasure hunting. I could use me a few new gem-bought wardrobes.
no subject
You got it! [Catching the gem with one hand, Korra let Naga sniff it before she stuffed it into the saddlebag and hopped onto the saddle. She held out her hand down to Ororo.]
The ride's a lot better from up here. [Finding them wouldn't be the problem. Not having enough room in the bags, that was the real issue.] We can split up evenly when we're full up.
no subject
Done deal, Korra.
[And, with a grasp of the hand, the deal is set and Ororo hauls herself up behind Korra -- with said Avatar's help and another spring funded by the wind, of course.]
You been here long?
[Asked as she tries to settle on the best way to hold on without pulling fur or being too awkward.]
no subject
What about you? I know some foreigners are from the first wave. [Namorita was one that came off the top of her head. When they had been still for too long, Korra leaned forward to see what Naga was doing.]
Naga, NO! Don’t eat- [Too late. The polar bear dog looked back at her, licking it’s chop.] …How did you eat that?
[Korra looked concernedly over at Ororo. Her animal companion just ate a beautiful rock and she had no idea what to do about that.]
no subject
A year, maybe more. I didn't make first but--
[Wait. Ororo cuts herself off with the fuss about Naga, and seeing Korra's expression plucks a string of concern.]
Whoa, I'm sure it's fine. It wasn't a twenty carat deal or nothing, right?
[Said with an air of feigned nonchalance to reassure Korra as she slides off of Naga and walks around to her front. The polar bear dog looks quite... satiated from that, rather than... well. Gem-iated.]
Naga, was that tasty?
[Asked with a dubious air.]
no subject
I guess so?
[Then Naga sniffed the ground and padded along another foot before digging up another gem. Korra reached down and picked up it. With a few whiffs of her hand, she bended the dirt off it so it was clean.]
Feel brave? [She asked with a half smirk as she held it between herself and Ororo.]
no subject
You just dug that out of the ground, ew!
[Yeah, she did the gesture thing, but Ororo doesn't really know what that means aside from it kicked a bit of dirt off it.]
no subject
[Looking at the gem with some apprehension, Korra let out an exhale of determination and popped it into her mouth. At the very least, it would just taste like a rock and she'd just spit it out.
Instead, she ended up turning it over in her mouth and was looking upwards as she taste tested it. After a bit of munching, she swallowed it.]
Not bad. [She said with a stiff lower lip of approval.]
no subject
Not bad? What's up with that? You're saying it tastes like food?
[Ororo holds her hand out for one -- they've scavanged enough -- and maybe she wants to see for herself what's up.]
no subject
Yeah, I thought it was just going to taste like rock, but that really hit the spot.
[She patted her tummy and it made a robust thumping noise and she gave a toothy smile. Guiding Naga with her hand, Korra fetched out one of the gems from the saddle bags and waved her hand to bend off any dirt on it, then placed it in Ororo’s palm.]
Hope you’re hungry. [She scratched Naga’s ear, if her new friend never found her animal companion, finding these things would have taken a lot longer.]
no subject
Whoa...
[That's an explosion of flavour in her mouth. Ororo instinctively starts to chew it, nodding slowly as it settles in. There's something surreal about eating a diamond, but it tastes delicious.]
Whoa, hold the phones. [She swallows and man that is satisfying.] That was like sex, just... edible. Holy crap.
no subject
Which only made Naga perk her ears up and look sideways at Korra. That was a new sound and it was important to find out if that was Naga talk or people talk.]
no subject
Cat got your tongue?
no subject
[That analogy completely came out of left field and knocked Korra’s brain out for a few seconds.]
Nothing. They have a lot of kick to them, yeah. [She scratched the back her head and gave a sheepish smile.]
But now I don’t know if I should keep them or eat them. [Selling them might have been an option, but she rather liked how they tasted.]
no subject
That depends, girlfriend. You the kind to sell off your favourite chocolates?
[Because she meant that 'sex' comment when it comes to taste satisfaction. This is not something you just... hand out like candy.]
Keep the lot for a rainy day is what I'd say.
no subject
Nah, I don’t think I’d sell them. My job’s really good about paying me and even gives me food.
[Patting one of the saddle bags to hear the gems tinkle around, Korra grinned.]
Next trip out here I’m bringing along some extra sacks and we can just dig up what we can while Asti’s letting us visit. [He was visiting a dead sibling, Korra knew that, and addressing it as such would have brought her down.]
For now though we can test out the flavors [Taste the rainbow.] and split the haul from there. Whatcha’ think?
