Jack had spent the last three hours balanced motionlessly on the top of a flagpole, head tilted back as he listened to the wind and the sound of the city below. Where is Winter? it asked. I'm here! the spirit replied, but he knew it didn't mean his physical presence. He'd had too much on his mind and too much in his heart and in that sense he had indeed been absent these last few weeks.

Eyes closed and thoughtlessly trusting, he tipped forward into open air, letting the wind catch him and hurl him upward into the misty cloud cover that scudded across the stars tonight. At his touch they thickened, fat and pale grey against the indigo backdrop and Jack swirled them up, the motions so ingrained in him they felt just like breathing. In the small hours of the morning snowflakes began to fall on the sleeping city, specks at first but then quickly becoming heavier.

Now with a fresh canvas to work with, Jack was really in his element. He could never have done something like this back home, not anywhere in his world. It would have been too strange, too inexplicable, drawn too much attention. But here on the turtle, things were different. There wasn't really a semblance of normal and Jack poured his imagination and heart into the things he wanted most to share, and from the snow rose gleaming swirls of snow and blue light, forming things of exceptional detail and delight.

By the time the sun rose, a solid three feet of the snow had blanketed the city, glistening and crisp and Jack went rocketing down the streets, rapping on doors and windows to leave spirals of frost on every surface.

"Whooohoo! Snow day! Get up sleepyheads, everyone come out and play!"

The children's playground, for any number of reasons, was the last place that Bunnymund explored during his wanderings around the city. He'd looked high and low for anything interesting or answers he could find, though he really had no idea what he was looking for. He didn't want to think that he was stuck on the back of this turtle, but there wasn't a lot to suggest otherwise, and he was familiarizing himself with his surroundings since, for all he new, he was in this alone.

The ice sculptures around the town, and the set pieces around the playground were familiar, and that brings a small smile to his face, though it was bittersweet. He was being reminded of home, where he wasn't anymore, and it didn't matter that the entire scene was reminding him of Jack's usual antics on a larger scale. He wonders if this is some kind of winter festival the city puts on, even though the kedan seemed just as surprised at the winter wonderland.

And then he stumbles into the center of the snowy playground and ends up face to face with... himself, along with the other Guardians. His amusement fades into something more hopeful. He knew he recognized the craftsmanship, he just didn't want to hope on something he thought was completely unlikely, but here it was staring him right in the face.

"Jack," He whispers under his breath, ears perked and nose twitching as he tries to find the boy in his surroundings. "You're here, aren't you?"

Bunny had been in the middle of getting a closer look at the sculptures. He can't help but admire the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into each Guardian, and he was willing to bet that even North couldn't attain such a level of detail with his chainsaws.

Once he hears light footsteps on snow, even though he hasn't turned yet, he knows that it's Jack, and he can't help but feel relieved that he might not be alone in this whole situation.

Just because he feels that way doesn't mean that he's going any easier on Jack though, but the way the young Guardian is approaching him seems... off. "You're getting this all out of your system now before Easter, right?" He looks over his shoulder at Jack, trying to cover up his own surprise and relief with a small, amused smile. "You look like you're seeing a ghost, mate."

[personal profile] springsforward 2013-03-09 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll have to figure that one out later, considering Easter was only a few weeks ago. But hey, I won't knock a do-over," He smiles just a little more. This was normal...ish. Normal was a good thing right now.

Of course, that only lasts so long before he's catching Jack unexpectedly, and the surprise along with the icy spirit's momentum is enough to make him fall backward into the snow. "Course I'm here. Where else would I be right now?" You know, besides anywhere else on Earth. "Now, where are the others? Once we find them, we can get off this crazy ride."

Bunnymund is trying to keep up with what Jack is telling him, but along with everything else he's been finding out about this place, he was in a kind of information overload. He's really having a hard time processing what Jack means when he says that he's been here since December, since they'd only had Easter a few weeks ago, and he'd seen Jack since then as well.

Then again, having Easter coming around again so soon was just another strange thing about all this, but Bunny just didn't know how to wrap his head around this easily. He'd lost all that time somewhere.

"We can worry about that later," Bunny offers, ruffling Jack's hair and sitting up finally. "We're really stuck here, then?"

[personal profile] springsforward 2013-03-11 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Bunny just nods slightly, figuring that he'd just deal with things as they came. Whatever this place was, he'd already figured out he wasn't getting off of it, and for now he was more concerned about Jack, who had apparently been stuck here longer than the pooka realized. "I'm in the Wood District. 3B, I think."

He's a bit distracted though, because now that Jack isn't right on top of him, he can finally get a good look at the young Guardian, and even if they were mostly healed, the way Jack behaves isn't missed. "What happened to you, Jack?"

[personal profile] springsforward 2013-03-11 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Close to yours, huh?" He gives an amused smile, having a hard time not finding Jack's excitement just a little bit infectious. "Guess that means I have to keep an eye on you now, is that it?" He nudges Jack playfully. "It won't be the Warren, but I guess it'll have to do for the time being."

His eyes narrow just a little bit when Jack answers his question, and while he isn't so sure that's the whole story, he doesn't want to pry too much. He's trying to move with Jack though, wanting a better look.

It's not like Bunny cares or anything (Except that he totally does), but Jack was an ally and a fellow Guardian, even if he was still green as far as Bunnymund was concerned. He had no idea what he'd missed, what was going on in this place, and especially what kind of trouble Jack Frost had undoubtedly gotten into. If Jack was hiding something, then Bunny would find it out eventually, because nobody messes with his people, even when it's Jack, who probably deserved it.

He lets it go once Jack hops to his feet though and covers up the scar, putting the smile back on his face to meet Jack's enthusiasm, and eventually he gets up as well, brushing the snow off and giving one last look at the Guardian sculptures before looking back to Frost. "I wanted to ask you about that too, mate. We're believed in here, by the kedan?"

STEVE || OPEN

[Steve is at the biplane, helping kedan kids into the seats if they need it, getting the propellers going, throwing snowballs at them (and providing firesnowpower for them to throw back.

He's everywhere around the park, really, catching kids when they slip and explaining the figures in ice that he recognizes, helping build snow forts and stacks of snowball ammo.

Basically he couldn't be happier.]

[Dorian decides to catch Steve's attention by throwing a snowball at him.] Careful, Captain! If Agent Carter sees this, she might propose on the spot. I almost did.

[He only half-blocks the snowball, grinning at Dorian as several of the young kedan return fire.] She'd have to beat me to it.

[A statement that, under ordinary circumstances, he probably wouldn't make. But as it is, he plucks one of the snowballs from a pile in the plane and chucks it back at Dorian.]

I'm pretty sure she could.

[Dorian has the look of an indignant cat when he gets a snowball.] Hey! It isn't very sporting to pick on a smaller nation.

[While he's being indignant, he is dodging back behind cover, all the better to attack Steve and his kedan army.]

[ Is it not normal for most people to stand at the edge of a park watching the children playing with an expression somewhere between 'studying alien life forms' and 'watching an impending trainwreck'? Too bad, because that's exactly what Georgia's doing.

It's not the kedan that's so strange to her, really - it's the playground itself. This is the sort of place that her world abandoned long before she was old enough to play on them. Some were torn down, others destroyed in the fires of decontamination; some of them are still standing, sad skeletons preserved for no reason Georgia could ever understand. All she can think staring at this is the kind of carnage that went on at schools and playgrounds just like this, how this is the perfect place to spread the infection or start an outbreak and God, she hopes she's not wrong about the kedan being immune.

...the snow is, quite obviously, not doing anything to improve her general pessimism. ]

[Steve throws a snowball very gently at the scowling woman at the park's edge, aiming for her shoulder.] Something wrong, stranger?

[ She'd been so focused on the kids, she hadn't much been paying attention to the man with them until the snowball smacks into her shoulder. Georgia's head snaps toward him, eyebrows raised in an expression that looks a lot better (and more intimidating) with her sunglasses. As it is, she just looks like she's never even heard of the concept of fun and is deeply confused at someone trying to engage her in it. ]

Not really. People just don't do... things like this... where I'm from. It's weird, that's all. [ She pauses, her expression somewhere between a smile and a grimace. ] Among the many, many weird things here...

I'm sure they've got plenty to go around. [He looks up toward the source of the voice and smiles.] I don't think we've met.
