Jack had spent the last three hours balanced motionlessly on the top of a flagpole, head tilted back as he listened to the wind and the sound of the city below. Where is Winter? it asked. I'm here! the spirit replied, but he knew it didn't mean his physical presence. He'd had too much on his mind and too much in his heart and in that sense he had indeed been absent these last few weeks.

Eyes closed and thoughtlessly trusting, he tipped forward into open air, letting the wind catch him and hurl him upward into the misty cloud cover that scudded across the stars tonight. At his touch they thickened, fat and pale grey against the indigo backdrop and Jack swirled them up, the motions so ingrained in him they felt just like breathing. In the small hours of the morning snowflakes began to fall on the sleeping city, specks at first but then quickly becoming heavier.

Now with a fresh canvas to work with, Jack was really in his element. He could never have done something like this back home, not anywhere in his world. It would have been too strange, too inexplicable, drawn too much attention. But here on the turtle, things were different. There wasn't really a semblance of normal and Jack poured his imagination and heart into the things he wanted most to share, and from the snow rose gleaming swirls of snow and blue light, forming things of exceptional detail and delight.

By the time the sun rose, a solid three feet of the snow had blanketed the city, glistening and crisp and Jack went rocketing down the streets, rapping on doors and windows to leave spirals of frost on every surface.

"Whooohoo! Snow day! Get up sleepyheads, everyone come out and play!"

[Finnick isn't exactly sure how he managed it, because this is Johanna. And snow is essentially water. But he had thrown the woman over his shoulder - which she was none too happy about, and there would be bruises to prove it - and carried her outside of her suite, dropping her into the snow without much care.

He's been having fun all morning, and it's about time the rest of the people he cares about have fun, too.]
There, don't you feel better?

[Finnick carrying her caveman style was not out of the ordinary. In fact she'd been on the receiving end of him dunking her in the past. But that was before the Capitol, before they took the one thing she'd manage to keep to herself; her pride. Torture was a funny thing like that, even funnier the effects it left behind. It had made her weak, put the fear she'd lost after the death of her family back into her chest and made sure she couldn't forget it. For someone who couldn't stand weakness, dealing with it wasn't an option, confessing that something was wrong and couldn't be fixed even less so.

Avoiding what caused that weakness was just fine, though.

So when he came to drag her outside, she'd fought desperately to avoid the snow. Scratching, biting, hitting, threatening hadn't done any good and right up until he throws her into the snow bank she clings to him like a spitting cat, cursing him and his existence.

Johanna uses language most foul, and it's super ineffective!

The effect of Jack's magic isn't immediate; her face still tightens up, color draining from her skin and she throws an angry punch at his leg, a combative fear in her voice.]
You stupid asshole, I should kill you-!

[And she looks like she might for all of a second, teeth bared and preparing to beat him senseless, until it starts to kick in and her expression falters. She remembers why she's angry, what's got her twisted and panicking but those feelings are less and less with each passing moment.

Johanna's fist lowers as she stands, not brushing herself off but not stomping off to go back inside, either. Her hands come up to her face, brushing her hair back as she sizes him up.

And aims another punch to his shoulder, though this one significantly less malicious.]

Yeah, being cold and soaked sounds like a great way to spend my time.

[Finnick's heard and dealt with worse, honestly, and he's convinced himself that this is good for Johanna. She needs to get out more and live a little, not continue to be angry and hide herself away. He cares enough about her to not allow this to happen to her.

He waits with his arms crossed over his chest, a grin plastered on his face, even as she threatens him.

Finnick waits.

And it's worth it. He has no fucking idea what's going on with this snow, but he assumes it's magic. Which explains the slow change in Johanna's demeanor when she stops yelling at him, when her body language changes from a wild animal hellbent on defending herself to someone just mildly irritated.

He laughs at the punch to his shoulder.]
Well, I do know a way that can make you soaked and hot instead.
