Sometimes a literal one. You should've seen his face when I hit a guy in a bar with my mace, then gave it to him. [Just remembering it made her laugh.

And she of course, taps it with hers in return.] To one hell of a bar fight.

Aw man, you didn't even take a photo for me.

[He clinks his glass against hers and finishes what's in it.]

What else have you been up to around here?

If I ever do that with him again, I'll make sure to do just that for you.

[She shrugs nonchalantly, taking a few sips.] Not much. Exploring around, trying to learn more about the kedan. I'm used to being dropped on strange worlds, but not forced to live on them. [The Watchtower was pretty much her home.]

[He lifts an eyebrow, an unspoken request for her to continue.]

Most I've been doing is try to figure out everyone here who looks familiar to me. Members of the League or otherwise. [She's still trying to get used to the turtle.]

How similar are they?

Batman's the same as ever. [Except he doesn't know her, so that bummed her out a bit.] Black Canary seems the same, but I never talked with her much at home, so I'm not the best judge. Aquaman is a lot nicer here than in my world. [And he isn't missing a hand, either.]

Wally is... different, too. [By about ten years.]

Any trouble adjusting?

[That's his main worry.]

No. It was hard without my powers for a while, but I dealt with it. [Nothing she can't handle.]

At least we just worked out all that frustration.

[He gestures to the pile of unconscious kedan.]

Anyway. I found students for you.

That was a lot better than talking out frustration. Way more therapeutic.

[Oh right, self-defense classes were a thing she said she'd do.] Who are they?

Captain James Kirk, and Clara Oswald. Kirk's a brawler, Clara needs to a swing a mace.

Sounds like they just need some proper training to develop their skills. It won't be too hard, it'll just take time. So long as they listen.

C'mon, you want to go somewhere else to wind down? There's a noodle place down the road.

So long as you're paying. [She doesn't have much money as it is.]

[Ain't even bothered. He gestures at the door, holds it open for her politely, and then leads the way down the street.]

Not for long. [Such a gentleman, Kyle! And now it's time for small talk.] So did John talk about me much where you're from? [Or not so small talk because this has had her curious since day one.]

Well, sorry, but-- the Hawkgirl in our world is really different from you. I don't think they've ever actually spoken. I certainly haven't.

Ah, I see. You just got used to me so quickly, I thought you might've known me through John or something. [Because hahahah no one gets that used to Shayera so quickly. IT'S WEIRD.]

[imaginate]

[She's John's type, and he and John always went on double dates. Kyle had plenty of time to get used to Merayn.]

We have common ground. [He jerks a finger back at the bar, to indicate the best example.]

[No wonder her and Mari got along. But that brings a smile to her face.] That's honestly one of the best times I've had with a GL. Hope we can find more common ground.

[imaginate]

You need to meet more cool GLs. It's a pity Guy's not here, you two would've had a blast.

[His expression turns briefly pensive, but cheerful again. He does miss Guy a lot, but it's not as awful as it was.]

I need to meet more people who know how to have fun. [The only one on the JL who actually knew how to was Wally, and, well... he's not likely to join in a bar fight. She grabs Kyle by the shoulders, pulling him close for a one armed hug. No being sad, goddammit.] For now, I'll have to settle for you.
