Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

So when she arrives, it's sitting in a sort of side-saddle style on top of the golem as it heads up to the Amphitheatre. Astride might have been better, all things considered, except for the length of her skirt making that impossible to do modestly. Nudging the golem gently with her heel against its side, she urges it toward Annabeth the moment she spots her friend with the interesting looking bird following behind her.]
Annabeth, hi!
no subject
Hey. Where'd you get the ride? [Let's get that elephant out of the room first okok.]
no subject
I found it in Sinbrilee. It's some sort of golem and I think it...it just likes me? It's been sticking around since I found it [and kept it from killing Jim] so I think it maybe...linked to me or something? Not sure.
[Her gaze goes up to the bird.]
Looks like I'm not the only one with a new friend, though.
no subject
[She comes back with a grin, though.] You lucked out that it got so attached. It looks like it'd be really strong and formidable otherwise.
[The sea gull creaks, and Annabeth's face turns a little sheepish.] That's Asty. Leo made it for Percy. Yeah, he named it after the turtle. There's another named Chelona. [A pause.] That's turtle in Greek. [Mock exasperation over her boyfriend's pet naming choices goes here.]
no subject
Leo made these?
[Her expression lights up.]
I knew he was an inventor and I met his tables but these are incredible. I like the name Chelona as well, even if it is a bit...on the nose, so to speak.
no subject
[Then she grins, nods.] Chelona's with Percy, but yeah - Leo made them. He built and designed a flying warship back home. As far as sons of Hephaestus go, he's definitely one of the best. [She can't help rolling her eyes over the names tho.] Chelly, for short. And here, this is cool - [She sort of makes a gesture at Asty above her head, where it turns... into a hammer. And continues being airborn.]
no subject
The bird turns into a flying hammer. Bryn stares at it. Then Annabeth. Then the bird-turned-hammer. Her jaw drops just a bit.]
That's pretty incredible I mean. We don't really have anything like that back home. It'd take an Aspurran mechanic probably or engineer of some sort and an Asarian magician...or someone well versed in both disciplines.
[Just think of the applications! The uses with subterfuge!]
But ah, no. No names for the big kitty yet. I'm open to suggestions...from you at least.
[Not Annabeth's friends.]
no subject
[She can't help the grin on her face.] Depends on what kind of name you're going for? My biases are a little Greek, but considering where you found it, I guess it's not too far off.
no subject
[She turns to consider the lynx carefully a moment. The names she'd come up with were alright but not particularly right. Bryn watches the lynx as the lynx watches the seagull. Its gaze is intent, but it doesn't seem to be intending to make a move on the mechanical bird.]
Do you have a god or goddess of large cats like this? Or stonework creatures?
no subject
There's the Aegis - a shield, originally belonging to my mother but shared with Zeus. It's strong, powerful, with the face of Medusa to further ward off enemies - the word aegis itself has sort of come to relate to a sense of protection in present context.
no subject
[She looks to the giant stone cat with a tilt of her head, and pats its shoulder.]
What do you think, hm? Bastet? Artemis?
[The cat looks away from the seagull finally, looks to Bryn, but it doesn't indicate any preference one way or the other.]
Well I guess we'll just have to think about it more. [She grins] So hey, where's your guy? You brought him, right?
no subject
[It doesn't even phase her, and she's still smiling. Of course she brought him.] He's around. I think he took a dive for the food tables.
no subject
And how did things go with you two after our little talk? It went alright, right?
[SHE IS JUST CONCERNED OKAY.]
no subject
no subject
Did something go wrong or it just...hasn't happened yet?
no subject
No, no, everything's fine. [A pause, and Asty fills it by creaking.] It hasn't happened. But - I mean, that's okay. It's not a bad thing.
no subject
Well there's never any rush of course. [She shrugs.] No time limit or anything. As long as everything is okay with you two.
[She smiles a bit.]
So, what have you been up to with landfall?
no subject
[Her face brightens.] It reminds me of home. I've been studying the ruins and architecture, sketching a lot. I found some armor from home, weirdly enough.
no subject
Well that's not entirely surprising, considering the last time you found my sword. You'll have to show me the armor sometime though.
[Her gaze moves around the area a moment before she looks back at Annabeth.]
So this is what your home looks like? A little like here?
no subject
[Annabeth looks around a little wistfully.] Some parts of home. Camp Half-Blood and Mount Olympus have architecture like this, but most of the world is modernized, maybe a little like the Metal Sector. All of this here is antique, technically, by my world's standards.
no subject
[Giving the architecture a closer look, she can't help but appreciate its aesthetic. It's beautiful, stately in ways that don't exist in Askoupur.]
And it's beautiful. I like it better than some of what I've seen in the Metal sector. It's a shame there isn't something more like this in Keeliai.
no subject
I definitely like it better. Almost everything I design is classically influenced - that's what the style as a whole is referred to. But I guess it's kind of a mix, too, depending on what I want or what it's needed for. It might be possible to bring some designs like this into Keeliai, especially at the rate the city needs to fix or create infrastructure.
[You got her started, Bryn. Architecture.]
no subject
I wonder who you'd speak to about such things. Maybe you could see to leaving your mark on this city. [She taps her chin thoughtfully.] Certainly you'll have the option to do so with my new place. Now that we've found the building.
[She pauses a beat.]
I did tell you that, didn't I?
no subject
[A nod.] You did, yeah! I'll have to come check it out again, see what we can do.
no subject
[Shrugging, she looks back to her golem and smiles.]
I think maybe we ought to go in, see what they have set up around here. Want to come with or are you going to stay out here a while longer?
