Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

Closed; Korra, Jim, & Kyle
She placed her chin on her hand and looked out at the dance floor smiling. This had turned out to be one of the most stress relieving day she’s had in a very long time. Then she looked up at the sound of footsteps.]
Hey Jim, have a seat.
[A familiar face was always welcome, even after their little dream escapade. Nothing could break the fun she was having and the sedentary mood.]

What's up?
no subject
Everything! Have you seen this party? Sooo much better than the first one I went to.
[This was big brother time and she was going to take full advantage of it.]
I think I've been just about everywhere and it's so weird to see everyone looking and being like this. But a good "weird", like when you stick your toes in cool mud on a hot day "weird".
[She wiggled her toes thinking about it. Toe wiggling time.]
What about you? You danced with quite a number of girls. [If an eyebrow waggle had a sound, it was the sound of her voice.]
no subject
[He sounds completely unabashed by this. Because if there's one thing he loves about Life, the Universe and Everything, it's being a goddamned space captain bridge troll. He plucks some delicacy or other (one of those little exploding taste gem things) and tosses it in his mouth and chews obnoxiously just because he can.]
no subject
[She didn't feel this was the place or the time to ask him about guys and, well, guys. Her sheltered life never gave her any exposure to that. And there had been to time to really take in Republic City thanks to the revolution.]
But I was wondering what you're going to do when they're all fighting over you.
[Teasing was always fun for Korra and something she could do comfortably with people she felt close to. Which was why she waited until he was swallowing one of the tasty gems when she announced the decision that had been on her mind since she got there.]
I'm going to be in the naked wrestling pits tomorrow.
[Said casually as she took a sip from her grape juice.]
no subject
[He winks with exaggerated outrageousness, and-- promptly chokes on that little gem.]
What?
no subject
[No, she didn't even try to hold in that smile. Though she did wait until she was sure he wasn't choking to death before laughing.]
Yeah, I really just need to vent some stuff and that wrestling came at just the right time. [Sparring wasn't enough, it was a learning experience; and attempt to improve oneself. This was just a brawl and making your opponent submit, a great source for physically letting out frustration. The last time she did that, there weren't any rules involved and it was just her and Amon bloodily beating each other to death. Almost death, she wouldn't be here otherwise.
And that conflict left more frustration than she had initially.]
Just something I think I need to do.
[All words and sentiments that didn't match her elegant dress and posture at all.]
no subject
[... actually--]
Blindfolded?
[HIS TONE IS SLIGHTLY STRANGLED BECAUSE OH MY GOD TINY ADOPTED SIS HE DOES NOT WANT TO SEE YOU NAKED AND ROLLING AROUND WITH OTHER NAKED PEOPLE. Mind, it's not like he'd tell her not to because Jim Kirk is all about free-- you know, speech and expression and stuff. But still. It'd be like seeing Spock naked, for Chrissake!]
no subject
I don't think you'd get much done that way. Not unless you're able to see with your feet. [She didn't even try explain what that meant. Seismic sense was something she could explain another day, not when her tummy was starting to hurt from the pent up laughter at thinking of a blindfolded Jim stumbling around a bunch naked people.]
If you're that worried, you could always check in with one of the ghosts. I'll be fine though, fighting's my thing. I've been picking up some grapple techniques from a friend, so maybe I'll win you a basket?
[Still, his tone had been too much for her and she sputtered out the laugh finally.]
Honestly, I'm surprised you're here and there watching it.
no subject
I have seen so many naked people, there's not much point. I mean, eventually, sure. But dancing is way more fun.
no subject
You’ve got to be the only person I know who would say that. [Even Mako wouldn’t have been able to keep his cool over the subject.]
Maybe I’ll get to practice it some more tonight now that I know it’s not just about stepping around and trying to look pretty. [Seeing it now as a passive form of martial arts, Korra had a lot less trouble with the concept of it. She stretched out the muscles of her feet and toes as far as they would go and repositioned her feet so they weren’t straining his knees as much.]
I’ll even let you pick my next dance partner. But if they can’t lead like you do, I won’t be held responsible for the people that get knocked over.
no subject
[Jim nods at her.]
Look at you. You're strong and confident and smart. Any guy'd be lucky to dance with you. And trust me, any boy your age is thinking about whether or not you're finding him attractive just as much as the other way around.
[Oh, Jim didn't miss those awkward years. So maybe his were never quite as bad as some, he came into his own early and through sheer stubborn force of will. But still. He knows.]
Deal.
no subject
Then the subject of boys came up.]
Some boys aren’t my age, even if they act like it. [Zatanna had told her Jack was over three hundred years old, as if that wasn’t intimidating at all by itself. It took a moment until she realized how that sounded.] Not you, this boy- er, guy, Jack.
[She quickly shook her head and waved it off.]
Alright, but first I need to leave my feet up for a little bit. [It was her turn to grab a nourishment gem and pop it into her mouth.]
no subject
Wait, Jack Frost? Seriously?
[Yes, that is everything he gets out of her statement. Jack Frost.]
no subject
Um, yeah. Why? What’s wrong with Jack?? [Aside from him being centuries old, a spirit, and constantly colder than ice. Now she wasn’t even sure if maybe Jim and Jack didn’t get along, the way she and Kyle didn’t get along.]
no subject
[So he's the one Jim sounds like. Funny, he's never noticed it.]
no subject
[Between herself, Zatanna, and Jack; Korra was pretty sure they battered any puns Jack-related into the ground. But having Jim in on it, well that was just extra fun sprinkled on top.
She cleared her throat.]
What can I say, he had cold feet.
[She was smiling so hard it forced her eyes shut. They needed to be stopped.]
no subject
[WHY DOES ANYONE LET THESE TWO TALK THEY'RE BASICALLY THE SAME PERSON THIS COULD GO ON INDEFINITELY.]
no subject
[Perhaps even a ghost could be heard groaning.]
no subject
[Mock-aghast!!!]
no subject
[Mock-mortified!]
no subject
You think you're okay talking to him?
no subject
When Jim raised his hand, Korra looked in that direction and her breath caught in her throat. In that same instant her eyes went directly to Kyle’s hand and then darted to either side of him.
That half-second over, she looked back at Jim and nodded. She understood why this would be a good time for it. This was a safe atmosphere, partly because of the others there, but for Korra because Jim was there. She lifted her feet off his knees, just in case Kyle wanted to sit where Jim’s feet were.]
Yeah, I think I’ve put it off long enough.
no subject
[Nothing to fear.]
[Jim doesn't stop waving. Kyle sighs, and gives it a few moments before he approaches, and remains standing until asked to sit. He acknowledges Jim with a nod, his body language closed and unreadable. Anyone watching would think they were total strangers, which was the point. He didn't like people knowing how close he was to Jim, even if it meant Jim couldn't openly read him like they were used to doing.]

Kyle, Korra, Korra, Kyle. First person who says 'we've met' gets an hors d'oeuvres thrown at their head.
