She's so genuine in her surprise, it takes him by surprise -- a pleasant one, at that. He blames fucking Gotham for that -- everyone worth knowing there has a clue on who he is, and when he shows up, it's all boo and hoos. No one's surprised to see him anymore, they're just sad-- And he stops thinking about that then and there.

He grins and stifles a laugh. A hand raises and calms her down, as he shrugs.

"On your first try! Well frickin' done, your Holiness." He's teasing, knowing that she told him to knock it off last time. "Show's not about to start until the fat man punches the other fat man. So, we got options." This part, he's making up. He has his resources to steer the tide on his own, but he won't have to use those limited supplies if Korra's here.

"We have to take a side. Destroying both sides will cause a bigger, badder territorial war. And I live here, I kinda want to keep it that way. We take Kid Choi or Leng. I'm going to pick Leng's. He's old school, he knows how tricks works. Kid Choi's reckless, dangerous and volatile. Better take it out before it becomes something. We good with that?"

In actuality, Kid Choi's a man with more honour than Leng has money. And Leng has a lot of money -- most of it is from his weapons trafficking. And that's the part that Jason is invested in because that is his business. Korra doesn't need to know that. All she needs to know is that Kid Choi's going to upset FIre's sector's peace -- which is true. No one trusts the new guy.

Jason smiles one last time before grabbing his helmet and putting it on, "Don't you worry about me. We keep our eyes on the prize, and we'll be fin--"

And before he finishes the sentence fully, the gangs shout and goads each other on. It only takes one foot to cross the line and gain momentum for the fight to start. And when it does, it's loud and it rings up to their spot on the roof.

"Hey! Hey," he gets her attention before she can jump in, "Let's be careful out there."

She'll never get the Cop Rock reference but it makes him happy to say it. And with that, his hands use the edge of the building as a stand and he flips over the edge and into the fight.

He drops in on the unexpected gangs. Landing on one takes care of one of the many capable fighters here. But the problem is being careful not to pack his punches and kicks at Leng's men. There's an unavoidable knock out or two before Leng realizes the party crashers are in his favourite. He makes eye contact with Leng, standing there in the back like a general before his group of young soldiers, then--

Oh.

Well.

Avatar. That's special.

Jason sees the flash of flames from the corner of his eyes. Momentarily awed, his attention gets pulled away for two whole minutes, along with everyone else, before the fighting resumes. He doesn't pull back. His movements are smooth, trained. No one move is a wasted act. The contact his punch makes lends him leverage to kick out at the Kedan ready to pounce on him. The momentum from the kick sends him body first at another kedan, where hands comes around and a quick twist of the neck takes care of that. He doesn't stop when he sees Korra looking at him, he grins behind his mask and gives her a two finger salute. Jason throws an enemy over his shoulder and takes the opportunity to step back near his partner for the night.

"Wow, so Avatar, huh. That's really handy," he grinds out above the noise. He takes a hit on his bad shoulder and stumble back. He's been using metal padded gloves so far, but the hit makes him all too aware that he has a weak side. His unique dagger gets drawn out to balance that.

"Glad you're on my side."

slowest of slow

He chuckles, it probably got drowned out by the fighting but he does.

"With you around as my backup? That's not even a concern."

The realization that there's a more powerful player around is slowly hitting Choi's people. While Choi's people seem to be slowly pulling back, Leng's seem to have flanked Choi's people at areas that Korra and Jason aren't hitting. Jason can't see to clearly if this is true or not, but there's not a single Leng gangbanger around them. That's enough for him to confirm that Leng realize his intent.

He stops fighting and looks back at Leng's direction. Leng gives him a nod. Allegiance confirmed. He's done what he needed to here. And Choi's done barking orders and decided to join the field, only to carry his men out of harm's way.

A good guy, too bad.

"Handle things here, K." The short nickname slips out casually. He starts running, chasing after Choi and the group he has around him.

Moving targets are always challenging but he kept up with his practice. Small knives flew across their closing distance and implanted themselves into Choi's friends knees, ankles, the meat of their butts. Just for kicks. He picked off Choi's companions one by one as they made the break for it. Until it was down to just one man.

He chased Choi down to an alley. There are three escape paths for Choi. But Choi won't do it. Jason just crippled all his lackeys, his brothers in arms. As expected, Choi turned and faced him. Hard lines on an otherwise smooth face. Jason's just like his mask. Neutral even as his flame knife ends it as quick as he can, as quietly as he can.

When Korra regroups with him, Jason has his helmet off. He's sitting down and leaning back on a hand, putting his weight on one side. He looks exhausted but satisfied. He's grinning at Korra for a job well done. To both of them. Choi's blood is on his shoulder, too dark to be fresh.

"You're not so bad yourself, your Highness. So what do I owe you for covering my sorry ass?" He teases, looking back at the contained chaos below.

Under his jacket is nothing. Another shirt, red but unstained. It tells her he's not bleeding at least. And he lets her see that much before making a move to brush her hand away.

"Hey. Take it easy, Korra."

He flirts casually, hoping to dismiss the issue with a sharp change on topic. He feigns the shock and the look of one having his personal space violated. "I'm easy but not that easy. At least buy me a cheap drink and take me to a nice hotel before you try to take my clothes off."

Maybe it's the adrendaline still pumping in his veins, maybe it's Joe the friendly regular guy persona talking, maybe he's just being a stupid boy. Whatever it is, it slips out of his mouth before he thinks too much about it.

"How do I get you kind of unattached?"

He doesn't get another word in before the whistle cuts him off. And that he wasn't expecting. He turns and looks around, his body holding a half-tense, ready-to-go mode. A trap? No, she doesn't seem the type.

He looks down at the bark. Giant dog -- sure, that makes sense. It could be worst. It could be a giant octopus monster, healing through it's massive suckers. It could be worst. Like her asking him to take his jacket and shirt off. He had a moment to relax after realizing it's just her dog. He holds his hands up, an act of surrending to her request.

"If that's what you want for helping me out. I'm not complaining. I just think you're losing out here. I'm good with a lot of other things. But... One strip show coming up."

Jason pries his jacket off and eases his arm out of his shirt. The bruise on his shouldn't is in varying degrees of green, yellow and purple. And it's not the only bruise. Despite having a new body, there are scars on the meat of his shoulder, faint but still there, marking him as a viligante.

He has his shirt in one hand and his jacket in the other. The night brings a cold breeze that prickles his skin. He's not standing here for much longer, and if Korra doesn't realize that. Well, they can't be good at everything. For example, he's not good at accepting help. Maybe because the last person who offered it was -- Let's not even go there.

Joe -- this is for sure Joe this time -- the persona smiles, still friendly but tired. And a part of Jason is, he wants to go back to his look out and nap for the 40 minutes before his nightmares bring another bout of mapping and fighting and repeat.

"I'm not asking for any favours. Do what you can," he shrugs, the movement brings an ache that he ignores; he's very good at that, "and we can both get on with our lives, capisce?"

Great, and he was beginning to like hanging out with her. Jason starts putting his shirt back on.

"As much as I would love to go back to your place on your mighty steed, no. I'm not."

Metal Sector -- there's a reason why he doesn't want to go there and it has nothing to do with Korra. He shrugs, casually, a hint of a smirk on his face and that silly amusement in his voice.

"Nothing personal. I think I just need to stay out of a complicated relationship right now."

"I'll try to keep it in mind."

He doesn't mind doing a quick heal here. Hell, the fact that he gets a quick heal pretty much made her his favourite person. He's young, but the way he's burning through -- the restless nights on watch, the toss up of nightmares and physical ache that won't let him sleep -- makes a quick heal a blessing. He drops his shirt once more and spreads his arms.

"Work your magic touch, and maybe I won't even have to go in to the clinic." That he never goes to. "Here and now, K."

"Fire Sector. My place is bugged as hell. You don't want to go there, but if I do pass out..."

Whatever magic-voodoo-thing Korra's doing is really working. He can't help but stare at it - the water dissappaiting the dark brusing, making it fade and fade. He makes a noise, a pleasantly surprised one. Chuckling a bit, he answers her question with a light tone. Not serious at all.

"I'm not looking to settle down if that's what you're thinking. No rest for the wicked, you feel me?" And to top it off, he gives her a saucy wink.
