Location: The City of Keeliai
Situation: The kedan have decided to participate in an Earth tradition: Hallowe'en! But there are other mysterious things afoot this holiday and when people start disappearing they'll have to find a way to reverse the effect... though all of their selves might not make it back.

As the weather turns crisper, the nights and mornings carry with them a hint of chill promising cooler days to come, the month starts drawing to a close. This is a pleasant time, soon to be the season of harvest even on such a nomad as Tu Vishan. Yet the relations with the kedan have been good lately and even the Emperor's latest warning has not dampened the resilience of her people (both willing citizens and not) and so today marks a new tradition to Keeliai and it starts with receiving a simple, handwritten invitation.

"Come and celebrate the Keeliai of ages past..."

NOTE: NPC tagging will be mostly in the Palace Rewards and Touch of Memory threads unless specifically requested elsewhere! Normal rules for players writing NPC interactions remains the same as always.

MID PLOT UPDATE!
Through the course of investigations will be discovered that every Foreigner who went trick or treating has acquired themselves at least one pot of what appears to be iridescent paint, sometimes more than one. Experimenting with these pots (because lbr who doesn't want a few randomly shimmery possessions) oddly enough lets ghosted characters interact with them completely solidly. Which, if you've inadvertently been ignoring someone, might mean you get your new shiny lamp thrown at your head.

Now if people get the smart idea to the paint the paint, that would let ghosted characters get hold of this stuff themselves...

TL;DR - Ghosted characters can paint themselves back into phase. ~~Eating the stuff is also acceptable.~~

[Any other time, she would've saluted back. But right now, her priorities prevented her from focusing on the fact that Kyle seemed...slightly off.]

We've got a problem. And by we, I mean mostly me, but since you're here...

[A pause. Right. Breathing was a thing.]

Everybody's ignoring me. Including my front door. It's like they can't even see me.

[Light shrug. Still ain't bovvered.]

Happened to me too. I can't touch anything either. I tried moving around and it rattled some chains, fogged some mirrors, stuff like that. Thought it was cool special effects at first.

[A pause.]

Are we ghosts?

I think I'd remember dying [again], Kyle.

My guess is that somebody else didn't learn from my mistakes and messed up another spell.

Can you reverse it? Or at least, figure out what it was?

[There should be a sliver of fear that it might be asking too much of her. There isn't.]

[She doesn't register the lack of fear on his end, too busy feeling a twinge of nervousness on hers at the thought of mixing magics. True, she had already promised she wouldn't any longer, and yet....]

It's weird. I mean...even moreso than usual. I've been casting my magic all day, and it's like...I don't know...people can't even see that. I feel like I could set fire to the water sector, and nobody would bat an eyelash.

[Holding up both hands-]

Whoa, let's not go that far. Can you locate anyone else who might be suffering the same predicament? I don't have my ring; I woke up like this.

Jack would normally be my go-to guy for something like this, only I can't find him. He wasn't in his room when I checked earlier.

[A nod.]

Let's split up then - we'll cover more ground that way, and maybe meet more people, some of whom might have other solutions. Keep trying to communicate.

[Yeah, he definitely should be. For the moment, she attributed it to wanting to put on a Heroic front in her presence...but before she headed off, she couldn't help asking:]

Because there's potential rogue magic on the loose, you just told me you don't have your ring, and yet you're acting like this is the Best Day Ever.

I mean, I'm all for putting on a brave face when having to deal with things that suck...but this might be going a bit overboard. Even for you.

[He blinks, in surprise. She's actually right... but he can't seem to make himself not think this is the Best Day Ever. That would require Fear.]

I'm honestly fine. Trust me.

[Look at this smile why would you doubt it?]

Maybe we should stick together for a bit. Just in case.

I mean, if we're ghosts and this is a horror movie, splitting up would be the last thing we should do, right?

[A shrug.]

If you like. This is a really, really terrible horror movie, for the record. No fog or anything.

So we'll pick up a couple of buckets of dry ice along the way.

[Pause. Pauuuuse.]

You wouldn't happen to know where the cemetery is, would you?

[Line. Faaaace.]

Why do you want to go to the cemetery, Kyle?

If we're getting in character, we might as well go all the way.
