EVENT | ALL HALLOWED
Characters: Everyone!
Date: Oct 27th - Nov 2nd
Location: The City of Keeliai
Situation: The kedan have decided to participate in an Earth tradition: Hallowe'en! But there are other mysterious things afoot this holiday and when people start disappearing they'll have to find a way to reverse the effect... though all of their selves might not make it back.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.
As the weather turns crisper, the nights and mornings carry with them a hint of chill promising cooler days to come, the month starts drawing to a close. This is a pleasant time, soon to be the season of harvest even on such a nomad as Tu Vishan. Yet the relations with the kedan have been good lately and even the Emperor's latest warning has not dampened the resilience of her people (both willing citizens and not) and so today marks a new tradition to Keeliai and it starts with receiving a simple, handwritten invitation.
"Come and celebrate the Keeliai of ages past..."
OOC: See the OOC plotting post for event details and this post for assorted subheaders outlining various parts of the plot. Feel free to start your own thread header if none suit, or make your own logs for various threadings... this is just for a central post for the event. Any questions can be directed HERE. Thank you!
NOTE: NPC tagging will be mostly in the Palace Rewards and Touch of Memory threads unless specifically requested elsewhere! Normal rules for players writing NPC interactions remains the same as always.
MID PLOT UPDATE!
Through the course of investigations will be discovered that every Foreigner who went trick or treating has acquired themselves at least one pot of what appears to be iridescent paint, sometimes more than one. Experimenting with these pots (because lbr who doesn't want a few randomly shimmery possessions) oddly enough lets ghosted characters interact with them completely solidly. Which, if you've inadvertently been ignoring someone, might mean you get your new shiny lamp thrown at your head.
Now if people get the smart idea to the paint the paint, that would let ghosted characters get hold of this stuff themselves...
TL;DR - Ghosted characters can paint themselves back into phase.Eating the stuff is also acceptable.
I. GIVE A LITTLE, GET A LITTLE!
Trick or Treating (All Sectors) | Palace Rewards
II. SHADOWS AND SHADES
Tangible: Kedan Museum | Disappearances | Investigations
Ghosted: Sense of Loss | Touch of Memory | Shift of Perception | Poltergeisting

Part of her kind of wanted to walk, but she hardly ever gets the opportunity to use her abilities on Catty. "Yeah, let's do it."
And she doesn't really hesitate after that, using their contact to tug apart and unravel both of their molecules until they're nothing but air.
no subject
And her expression just sort of remains bright as she watches her friend, the way she doesn't hesitate, the easy manner she just shrugs them both into molecules. "You're amazing," she informs her friend as they float through the air. It's always been true, but seeing Vanessa like this, now - the goddess she's meant to be - just hammers it home that much more.
no subject
"I'm not." Although part of her thinks that sometimes as well. For the most part, though, there's nothing really that amazing about what she's doing. It's just using her powers.
They weave through the air, catching a wind current that does most of the work in bringing them over to Water. It takes barely a second to bring them closer to the ground again and reforming their bodies.
no subject
They hit the ground easily - much more smoothly than Catty's been managing lately, she can admit - and she takes the opportunity to throw her arms around Vanessa. "You are amazing," she insists. "And I'm so proud of you."
no subject
Vanessa's taken by surprised, also a ridiculous idea. It's not like her and Catty don't hug, but every interaction lately has had this new undercurrent that she can't figure out. Still, she hugs Catty back and laughs. "Yeah?"
no subject
It's been a while since she was really impulsive about anything, so she decides to let herself just go for it this time. It's Halloween, right? Or something close to it. She she drops a quick kiss on her friend's cheek and then grabs her hand, tugging her towards a promising looking shop. "Absolutely." And then, to cover it-- "Trick or treat!"
no subject
If Vanessa was privy to Catty's thoughts, she'd wondered why Halloween meant something when it came to kissing. But she's not, so instead she just tries to not blush and think about the kiss, because she really has no idea what to think. "We should have dressed up."
no subject
Is Vanessa blushing? Catty can't tell, and she has no idea what that would mean if she was. You can infiltrate the inner circle of the most evil being that ever existed and date a bunch of demons, but it doesn't give you any more game. "Goddesses, remember? And in this Sector, heroes." She accepts the bags the kedan hands over with a smile, which she turns on her friend. "See? Here, look inside, what did you get?"
no subject
Jesus was supposed to be a virgin, right? Couldn't be with other people. And - that's definitely a red flag thought. Talking with Annabeth about her thoughts of kissing Catty has thrown her all around. She's letting herself think about things that just aren't possible.
"It's not a very obvious costume." Vanessa smiles back, taking the bag and glancing inside. "Ew. I think there's a tentacle in here..."
no subject
"What do you have against subtlety, huh?" She giggles a little at the tentacle thing. "Tentacles are great," she reassures the suddenly concerned shopkeeper, before steering Vanessa away. "Here, I'll swap with you. I got a bracelet." She smiles.
no subject
"Halloween isn't supposed to be subtle. That's the point." She makes a slightly distressed face, feeling bad that she's said that in front of the shopkeeper. "In my world, 'ew' is a really good thing."
She'd probably have eaten that tentacle right then and there if Catty hadn't pulled her away.
"No, it's yours. You keep it."
no subject
"It's yours now. I know you wouldn't give back a present."
no subject
"It'd be rude."
no subject
"You know, normally I would say it's okay to be rude, but this time I'm going to insist that you have to be uber polite." She snatches Vanessa's bag and fishes out the tentacle, squinting at it. "Dare me to eat it?"
no subject
Her nose wrinkles. "I double dog dare you."
no subject
Her eyes sparkle - or at least, that's how it my seem at first, but it's a literal glow as she eyes the tentacle. Phosphorescent. "Well, if it's a double dog dare, I guess I have to." And she dangles it over her mouth before dropping the whole thing. Her face screws up as she chews.
"Okay, bad idea, bad idea."
no subject
She glances back in time to see Catty actually eating one of those things, and she makes a face.
"Oh, that's so gross."
no subject
"You think it's gross? You're not the one eating it!" She picks up the other half of the tentacle and dangles it out towards Vanessa. "I triple dog dare you."
no subject
The look of disgust on her face is extreme. "You're kidding, right?"
no subject
Dangledangle. "Nope. Do it. Triple dog dare, there's no backing out of that."
no subject
"No way. I won't do it." But there's a triple dog dare dangling over her in the form of a tentacle and she does have a certain amount of pride these days. "Oh, fine. Give it to me."
no subject
The tentacle keeps dangling. Dangledangle. "Yes," Catty exclaims when her friend agrees, promptly handing the thing over with a wrinkle of her nose.
no subject
She pauses, keeping a tight grip on the slimy tentacle pinched between her fingers. Disgusting. But she tilts her head back and opens her mouth, pooling the thing into her mouth. She wishes she could just swallow it whole, but then she'd probably choke.
no subject
She watches with an eager sort of anticipation as Vanessa tips the tentacle into her mouth. There's a breathless pause and then she throws her arms into the air, cheering happily. "Go, go, go!"
no subject
"Ta-da."
