Location: The City of Keeliai
Situation: The kedan have decided to participate in an Earth tradition: Hallowe'en! But there are other mysterious things afoot this holiday and when people start disappearing they'll have to find a way to reverse the effect... though all of their selves might not make it back.

As the weather turns crisper, the nights and mornings carry with them a hint of chill promising cooler days to come, the month starts drawing to a close. This is a pleasant time, soon to be the season of harvest even on such a nomad as Tu Vishan. Yet the relations with the kedan have been good lately and even the Emperor's latest warning has not dampened the resilience of her people (both willing citizens and not) and so today marks a new tradition to Keeliai and it starts with receiving a simple, handwritten invitation.

NOTE: NPC tagging will be mostly in the Palace Rewards and Touch of Memory threads unless specifically requested elsewhere! Normal rules for players writing NPC interactions remains the same as always.

MID PLOT UPDATE!
Through the course of investigations will be discovered that every Foreigner who went trick or treating has acquired themselves at least one pot of what appears to be iridescent paint, sometimes more than one. Experimenting with these pots (because lbr who doesn't want a few randomly shimmery possessions) oddly enough lets ghosted characters interact with them completely solidly. Which, if you've inadvertently been ignoring someone, might mean you get your new shiny lamp thrown at your head.

Now if people get the smart idea to the paint the paint, that would let ghosted characters get hold of this stuff themselves...

TL;DR - Ghosted characters can paint themselves back into phase. Eating the stuff is also acceptable.

Sometimes. But if they coincide with mysterious ghostings I'm inclined to a bit more suspicious.

[imaginate]

[She has a point. He really should be more worried...]

So it's a magic spell gone a bit wonky. I'm really not seeing why you're so upset about it.

I'm not upset.

[There's a bit of a spark there. She feels poked at.]

I'm just worried.

[imaginate]

[A nod, and a sort of 'ah' expression.]

Unduly concerned, then.

I feel terrible. You're acting slightly bonkers. Nothing terrible yet but. You know, when there's smoke there's fire.

[She frowns. Both out of concern and because she can't help wonder if he's mocking her.]

[imaginate]

[Visibly "affronted":] I'm not bonkers! I feel great. You're bonkers.

[There's something awfully hollow about the way he teases her, like he's not actually concerned about what she thinks or feels.]

[parallels]

[And she winces at that. Kyle is usually a beacon. A warm light that spills over everything around him. Now he's cold and hollow.]

Can't you feel it? There's nothing there. You're teasing me but you're completely cold.

[imaginate]

[That's not the usual reaction she has to him, but he can't pinpoint on why she's doing that, and figures it's something wrong with her rather than with him.]

What do you mean?

[parallels]

...You always have a light. You're warm, you glow, and you bring that. But now it's gone dim. It's like... you're just going through the motions.

[She shakes her head.]

[imaginate]

Clara, I'm me. Why would I bother doing something like that?

[No grief. No guilt. Just. Anger.]

[parallels]

I don't know!

Why can't I remember who I am sometimes?

It's this place. This ghost thing. Everything's wrong.

[She looks up at him, her voice, her face, her eyes, every feature screams "please listen to me".]

[imaginate]

[He looks at the woman in front of him and he loves her. That's clear as brightest day, and he focuses on that.]

C'mon. Let's go fix this. Pretty sure there's others around.

[parallels]

[And the weight from her body lifts slightly. She reaches out and takes his hand in hers. Her fingers twist with his and hold tightly.]

We can fix it together.
