UPDATE:

There are numerous Christmas trees dotted through the house, and each Christmas tree is extravagantly decorated. They all have little hand-carved and painted ornaments, and for everyone that's been invited there is an ornament that's reminiscent of something from their home world or if Jim has no knowledge of it, something that seems specific to them in particular. There are names carved into the bottom of the ornaments, and people are free to take them home, they're essentially gifts!

[ Rules are made to be broken, gurl. Stocking gives a little shrug as though to indicate it's not a big deal, but there are definitely cues that it's not so insignificant as she lets on. ]

My sister and I are battle angels.

[Not these, if one wants to survive in Monet's circles.]

[She flicks her wrist, half-dismissal, but it conceals interest.]

They who fight monsters?

[ The angel girl's expression says thank Him, someone who actually knows what that means and nods. ]

That's it exactly. Demons, Ghosts, all the little nasties they keep puking up to Earth. Of course it's the least thankful job to have.

[A nod.]

Not to mention what it must do to your hair.

[ Stocking groans in acknowledgement. ]

It is just brutal! Some of us actually spend some time looking nice and putting thought into what we wear and then it's "go here and kill this thing and hurry up about it" like it's no big deal!

At least I can go to a spa and my boss will foot the bill - what insurance are they giving you?

[ Stocking makes a sound suspiciously like a whimper, staring at Monet with wide eyes. ]

You get... paid... for that? And time off?

[HANDWAVE.]

Chéri, if you're good at something, never do it for free.

We get Heaven Coins for the actual passing but we don't get shit all for the clean up!

[ Stocking's always considered this unfair of course, she's a petty creature to be sure, but she's never realized that anyone else would think the same. ]

Your first order of business when you're home - pay rise.

[ The angel purses her lips, definitely thinking about that. But it wasn't exactly like she can hold her "employer" hostage for better compensation. ]

I guess I can tell the afro priest to get on it. I deserve a benefits package, at least I'd appreciate them.

[ "Appreciate" them is too strong a word, but the general idea's there. ]

A very hefty one, mind, or it's just not worth it.

[ She nods decisively, and that has definitely moved to the top of her upon-return list. But for now her attention comes back to Monet. ]

[Of course you like her style. She sets trends 8D]

I could do with a drink, you think they've got the kiddy stuff put away yet? So whose invite are you here under?

I saw a few leave, so they must've by now.

[On cue, she starts to walk towards the minibar, perfectly poised.]

Captain Kirk's. And you?

The same.

[ She follows after leaving the turned off microphone behind, in case someone else wanted to sing though she was confident that no one else was going to pull off a hymn like hers had been. It also seemed as though some of the liquor had made its way out to the tables in this later hour. ]

What do you feel like having?

[Monet points to what looks like the most expensive bottle in the place.]

That should suffice.

[ Stocking snags it and two glasses, pours herself one and holds out the bottle so Monet can choose how much she takes. ]

But I don't really know the other guy.

Neither do I.

[She pours half the glass, and studies it.]

Anyone else you know, here?

[ Stocking's glass suddenly becomes rather interesting as well. ]

Doctor McCoy.

[Monet glances over the crowd, looking for the man in question.]

Familiar with Kirk's crew, are you?

The people from his world are interesting, that's all.

[ Because Khan had also been interesting though not a literal part of Kirk's crew. Even with what Jim had told her about him afterward, Stocking didn't think it was that big of a deal. ]

Is that what they're calling it now.

[She'd only met Spock; he classified under 'tolerable' in her book. She was less fond of Kirk, though he'd found a way around her defences.]
