UPDATE:

There are numerous Christmas trees dotted through the house, and each Christmas tree is extravagantly decorated. They all have little hand-carved and painted ornaments, and for everyone that's been invited there is an ornament that's reminiscent of something from their home world or if Jim has no knowledge of it, something that seems specific to them in particular. There are names carved into the bottom of the ornaments, and people are free to take them home, they're essentially gifts!

O Holy Night sounds good.

[ She wiggles back onto the chair and clears her throat out of habit, waits for the music to cue up (she could carry the entire hymn on just her voice alone, but she didn't mind the accompaniment) and fell into note after a short count. ]

"O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining..."

[ He listens to her, totally enraptured. Her voice is smooth and rings like a polished bell when she hits all the high notes. ]

[ It takes McCoy a second to remember he should say something once she finished. ]

Damn, that--That woulda made my mama cry. [ Hell, it almost makes him cry! ] Really, that was... beautiful--More than beautiful, but I don't think there's a word for it. Maybe in Vulcan. [ For how logical and to the point those overgrown elves are, they sure can stuff a lot of poetic ideals into a single word. ]

[ She practically -- and almost literally -- glowed at the praise. ]

Not bad for a battle angel, then?

Not bad for anyone, I'd say.

[ Now the problem comes when he's got nothing for her. He can't sing like that and he hadn't thought to bring her something sweet. Goddamn, what would his nan say about this? Something woefully demeaning, yet so cultured. ]

Wish I had somethin' more than a "thank you" to give ya, though....

Hmm hmm~ like what? If we were going for hypotheticals.

Well, I'm sure a nice creme brulee wouldn't go amiss, hmm? [ His smile is teasing and warm.

Taking a quick look around the room, he excuses himself for a minute. When McCoy returns, he has a few red flowers and some garland wrapped tightly around the stems. It's rather tacky to steal his friends' room decorations just to flirt with a girl, but what else can he do? He's pretty sure Jim would do the same to his decorations if push came to shove. ]

Hopefully this'll do until I can get my act together next time...

[ She blinks when he steps away and returns a moment later, accepting the small bunch of flowers. A slow blush rises on her cheeks. ]

They're lovely. Thank you.

Well, it's the least I could do after that lovely song...

[ Wow, that is a rather loaded comment. A little taken aback, he recovers with his usual smile reserved for those like Stocking and Ellie. ]

I'll be sure to remember that, darlin'...

Good! Then it's time for me to get a real drink, and not the kiddie pop you've been serving over there.

Me?! This ain't my party! Please, don't insult my taste in drinks based on Jim and Kyle's delicate sensibilities. Here--

[ McCoy takes his flask from a pocket in his santa suit and hands it over. ]

I smuggled some of the good stuff in....

[ Her eyes sparkle as she accepts the flask and takes a drink with surprisingly little flinch at the taste, given how much she purports to only have a palette for sweets. ]

Does that explain the jolliness?

If by jolliness you mean allowin' myself to be dressed up in this monkey suit with hardly a comment, then yes. It explains ninety-nine-point-nine percent.

[ Ugh, it's apparently making him sound like Spock as well. ]
