Situation: Kristoff does not buy that he could be here and his best buddy Sven couldn't be, therefore he is searching high and low for a certain reindeer.
Warnings/Rating: Risk of Frozen spoilers, but otherwise should be G-rated

[He receives an exasperated glare with a side of what kind of idiot are you.]

How large? What particular colour? Favourite food to lure him out if needed?

LET THE STORM RAGE ON

No, no. That's just fine, Kristoff.

[she'd reach out and touch him but she's feeling like she's scurrying everyone today and jeeeeeeeesus] I saw how much you cared for her! I'm not angry. I'm happy for you both.

[a short pause] As long as you don't rush in to anything.

[snehjerte]

[That... earns him a concerned look.] On the mountain?

[She actually waits for him to start explaining that- But then he moves on to another question that she's hoping is related to the confusion. Because it sounds like it is.]

We'd just reached Elsa's ice palace, and the doors opened after I knocked. [And then she actually starts to look a little worried.] Kristoff... Does something happen there?

[watcheslanterns]

[She nods and smiles knowingly.]

I understand. I hope that you find him.

JUST LET IT GO, ELSA, SOB

[speaksreindeer]

[Phew. Phew. He lets out the breath he'd been holding and then another, because he really didn't want to be the cause of another eternal winter -- especially not when he's of Elsa's mindset that ONE DANCE DOES NOT MAKE ROMANCE.]

Then, that's it. Everything's good now. Anna's okay and Arendelle's no longer froze--

[That afterthought from Elsa gets him to raise his hands up, an easy surrender on that point.]

Whoa, no. I don't believe in love-at-first sight. It's a process. You don't marry a guy you just met. [Then, quickly.] Or a girl.

[A roll of his eyes. He never really got to express his frustration about that between Anna and the wolves and his sled being busted.]

I care about Anna. [A beat.] A lot. [It's a weird admission.] But she's not even here and if she was-- [The idea makes him smile almost longingly, but no. Focus.] We'd take it slow.

[Not fast, like his family would have him do. Also, he's not mentioning the almost-got-married-accidentally part. Yet.]

[speaksreindeer]

[Does something happen there? That is a loaded question and he thinks about everything that he's learned from Hans and Elsa, each of whom he's run into before this, and he's not sure how to phrase it. They were diplomatic about it, but he's no politician and he's not about to start now, so he heaves a breath and braces himself.]

You talk with her, but she doesn't lift the winter. [He hesitates.] No, she can't lift it. And then-- [He makes something of a vague gesture.] -- she sees me and Olaf, kicks us all out. [Because, wow, your sister can't handle you bringing boys home.]

And -- It doesn't matter here.

[speaksreindeer]

[Hey, you're the one that doesn't know what a reindeer looks like. Geez. Kristoff rolls his eyes.]

About my height. Shaggy. Musky smell. And carrots. We love carrots.

[Hands down, the best food ever.]

[speaksreindeer]

[What a weird thing to say to a person that is not a reindeer. Kristoff just... yeah. He's going to jog off in the direction of his search and not address that atm.]

[that will draw out a laugh from her. She hadn't gotten a chance to spend a lot of time with Kristoff yet, and she could tell she would enjoy his company greatly already. ]

Just promise you'll try and take care of her. That's the only other thing I can ask.

[a beat of quiet, then--]

And after you've done that, then I can evaluate your compatibility with my sister.

[She's quiet as she listens, allowing it to sink in. But she has so many questions already. Elsa can't lift the winter? Why not? Why would she kick them out when she saw Kristoff and Olaf? -Actually, she can guess the answer to that one. But why wouldn't she go back to Arendelle with them?

When Kristoff just stops abruptly, she frowns a little, clearly still confused.]

You remember all that... And I don't. [That makes her a little uneasy.] And-- And what is it? What's the part that doesn't matter?

[superieure]

[She knows what reindeer look like silly, she's seen pictures!]

[Monet stands up to her full height, and tilts her head as though she's listening for something, stays still for a few seconds, before she looks at Kristoff again.]

There are approximately thirty-two locations where I can discern someone eating what sounds like carrots. However, they are all talking, so I expect none are your reindeer.

[Hans is severely tempted to pull an Olaf and gesture his twiggy arms at Kristoff until his brain finally catches up with the conversation. Of course given that he's not actually heartbroken, he's not urgently awaiting an answer but damn does he ever look like he's anticipating something awful.]

I'll be honest with you, Kristoff. I didn't manage to see a lot of the final results with my own eyes.

[He lets out a clearly forced laugh, folding his arms as if he's only just feeling the cold.] It was an experience, but there's really no sense in holding it against either of you. At least, not now when we're trapped here, in particular.

[relentlesstide]

[It's always nice to meet another sensible surfacer. The sentiment is mutual, and Arthur just chuckles slightly.] I know the feeling. There are humans who aren't so bad, but I can't say I've ever met a dolphin I didn't like.

Why does the ice keep you out of work? [A genuinely curious question. Selling ice doesn't even occur to him because nobody does that in Atlantis. Plus, modern world, and why would he ever need to buy ice.]

I can't say I've heard of any Oakens around here, I think you're alright.

[speaksreindeer]

That I can do.

[Phew. He's passed the first sister-test without being frozen solid or the already-frozen city being frozen solid.

Besides, that's all he wanted for Anna: Her to be taken care of. It's weird to think that maybe he'll be the one doing so, but, hey. Can't argue with the future?]

But-- [Wait. He's the true love! What's this about compatability?

Hang on here. He squints at her and his arms slowly cross.] Okay. Now I see where she gets it from.

[The whole random funny comments that is.]

That was a joke. [Right? RIGHT? Please be a joke.]

[speaksreindeer]

I'm from later, Anna. [A pretty flat, clear statement from his point of view.] You haven't lived all that yet. It's weird. Impossible. But it's what happened.

[And, er. The rest.]

The rest is just-- [Er. He scrounges up his sarcasm, easier done than said.] -- you haven't seen Olaf's reaction to heat. [Technically true, even if he hasn't seen it himself but has been told it.] I told you we needed to tell him. [EYE ROLL. Ffff he doesn't want to worry her. WHY SO HONEST TO STRANGERS AND NEVER TO TRUE LOVES, KRISTOFF.]

[speaksreindeer]

Sven can talk. [That's a defensive reaction and he's crossing his arms still.] I understand him perfectly.

[So there.

And then his brain catches up with what she just said and the intimation of what she did.]

You heard all that?

[Because that? Sounds craaaaaaaaaaaazy.]

[speaksreindeer]

[Honest? That seems legit. Prince Hans is the pillar of honesty if you ask one Princess Anna, so he can buy that. He nods, accepting that admission.]

And Anna's not here. [Oh how you will choke on those words in a few hours, Kristoff. But, yes. He's pleased with how well Hans is taking all this. People usually freak out and lie.] You're a good man, Prince Hans. [Weird. He's holding a conversation with a human and NOT getting thrown out of a building for saying something odd.]

What about this place? How trapped are we? [On a scale of one to scaling-a-mountain-to-end-an-eternal-winter.]

[speaksreindeer]

That's because they're not human. I've met three that are good people. The rest? [An exasperated shake of his head.] No. You're lucky if you've met good ones in with the liars and cheats.

[Arms crossed; momentarily huffy about people, sry2say. Kristoff clears that after a moment and looks mournfully at the snow.]

I harvest ice for a living. No one buys it when there's ice everywhere.

[He kicks a piece of ice on the ground for effect.]

[Hey Kristoff, guess who's also staying at WA-2C? This young lady! She gives Kristoff an odd look when he asks about a reindeer.]

No, I haven't. Did you lose your pet?

[relentlesstide]

[Arthur just snorts.] I wish it was just liars and cheats. Ocean pollution is at an all-time high. I try not to generalize and lump them all in together, but sometimes it can be... frustrating.

[But he winces slightly in sympathy when he says he sells ice for a living. That certainly would be a damper on one's livelihood.] Normally Asti sails through warmer waters than these. You might have more luck then. If you're taking up business again, I fish and sell to a few local restaurants, I can usually use ice.

Yes, I heard all that, do keep up.

[She frowns, electing not to argue about the whole... reinder... talking thing. Wouldn't be the first time she's met a nutcase.]

[In turn, he hadn't really expected Kristoff to be so pleasant. Granted, his brief experiences with him haven't been very telling, but he's not nearly as gruff and aggressive as a mountain man ought to be.] That's probably for the best as well. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing her, but I can't say I have any desire for her to be involved in a war. [Dangerous words, expressing a desire to see her, but he figures Kristoff earned it for pointing out the obvious.]

Well. I've spoken to a considerable amount of people from a lot of different places and...All of them say we're trapped for good. Or until they decide to send us home, which certainly isn't something we decide for ourselves. [He lets out a soft sigh, sagging his shoulders.] I wish I had better news for you.

Of course it's a joke.

[...mebbe. She doesn't care about your true love status, you break her sister's heart. She'll break you (￣^￣)ゞ

Okay but no seriously. She has heard your pleas. Give her a moment. ]

So you lost Sven on your way here?

[you know. Like this was all one extreme road trip]

Well, yeah, I- I mean, I guess I sort of understand that part, it's just- It's- Yes. Weird and impossible. [She fidgets a bit, pulling and twisting at the fabric of her mittens.

And that-- Kristoff, that is so lame. There's clearly more to it than that, but she'll let it slide. For now.] Hey, there really isn't any way to tell him without sounding-- without breaking his heart! And- Well, he was bound to find out eventually. [Just like Anna and whatever Kristoff's hiding from her.]

If it's any consolation, my best friend isn't here either? [His best friend being 100% human, however.]
