Location: Water Sector, marketplaces, farmyards, anywhere a reindeer might be
Situation: Kristoff does not buy that he could be here and his best buddy Sven couldn't be, therefore he is searching high and low for a certain reindeer.
Warnings/Rating: Risk of Frozen spoilers, but otherwise should be G-rated

[If the chameleon believes her, then he will as well. Kristoff nods to Pascal, presuming her words to be a translation of his nod.]

Reindeer usually, but most animals are better than people. [A beat.] Except wolves. [ :| They eat reindeer.]

I've never met a reindeer before. Or wolves. I've only read about them. But Pascal is my best friend. I think you might be the first person I've met here who doesn't think that's strange.

[speaksreindeer]

[Pascal? That must be her nam-- Wait. The way she's talking, it sounds like she's speaking for herself now, so he straightens up and looks her over again. He squints, thoughtful, then slooooowly the ice begins to melt.]

Wolves try to eat me and Sven all the time. [RUDE.] I wouldn't risk befriending one, but reindeer are friends to the end. [A scoff.] Sven would never lie, cheat, or betray me. I bet it's the same for you and Pascal here, right?

[watcheslanterns]

Yes. [She smiles brightly.] Pascal and I have been friends since I was little. He's always been there for me.

[She pauses, looking curious.]

Sven is a reindeer, then?

[speaksreindeer]

[Clink, clink, clink; away chips more of his icy facade as their similarities come to light. He actually smiles. Sort of. Half of his mouth gets levered up in something like a smile and he lets out a single chuckle.]

Yeah. He's about my height -- [He holds up a hand to illustrate said height.] Shaggy. Smells a bit, but all reindeer do. And he's like Pascal in the sense that he's always been there for me. [A beat, then his arms cross again.] That's why I don't buy that he's not here.

[watcheslanterns]

[Rapunzel's smile fades because she knows exactly how her feels. She reaches to her pocket and gently pats Pascal's head. Pascal chirps in turn, giving her an understanding look.]

Pascal wasn't with me when I first came here. I searched for days but no one had seen him. I only found him again when we were able to go to another town. He was for sale in an auction. [Her voice sounded pained as she said it. It had hurt being unable to do anything except spend almost every cent she had to buy him back.]

...It was awful, seeing him like that, but I was able to get him back.

[speaksreindeer]

For sale?

[The tone of incredulity is nigh impossible to miss in his voice and whatever compunctions he had against people in general have just been cemented in his head at that.]

That is exactly why reindeer are better than people! You don't see a reindeer trying to sell a person.

[Huff! Huff!]

Or a chameleon trying it either!

[Said with a tip of his head to Pascal's pocket. He huffs and he puffs and then he lets it all out in one loud breath. Kristoff looks at her, a tiny measure of acceptance in his expression -- and sympathy.]

For what it's worth, I'm glad you got him back.

[And now he's going to have to attend every livestock sale just to be safe.]

Thank you. [She smiles a tiny little smile again.] It helps to have a friend around when things...well, when things happen around here.

If you like, I could help you look for Sven. I made posters looking for Pascal when I first got here. I could do the same for you.

[speaksreindeer]

[Posters? Kristoff doesn't want to sound desperate, but that sounds like such a good idea.]

That... [Deep breath. Let it out. He nods and rubs the back of his neck.] That would be helpful. Sven's got to be around somewhere and if he sees himself, I bet he'll come home.

It's no problem. I'm happy to help. If you want to come to my suite sometime you can describe him to me and I'll make out the first sketch that I'll make the posters from.

I just don't have anything to draw with me right now.

[speaksreindeer]

That'd be great. [A beat, then some of those wee social graces that come to him around, dare he say it, friends? They start to manifest.]

And don't worry about it right now. I've got a whole city to check over still, but this'll be great if I don't find him.

[Because he really is hoping this could turn out moot.]

If not... well. I'll come by tomorrow?

I hope that you find him, but tomorrow would be fine. I live in the Wood Sector, suite WO-3B.

[speaksreindeer]

[WO-3B. Kristoff nods and figures he could probably find it.]

Good. [Great, even, but he's got his mind on Sven.]

I've-- [A kind of hopeless pointing in the direction his search had been leading him.] Got to keep looking.

[She nods and smiles knowingly.]

I understand. I hope that you find him.

[speaksreindeer]

[What a weird thing to say to a person that is not a reindeer. Kristoff just... yeah. He's going to jog off in the direction of his search and not address that atm.]
