november 1st
I think that's about everything?
no subject
Are you sure we need all of this?
no subject
Maybe not all of it.
[Reaching out, she pushes aside some of the extra clothes.]
no subject
Sitting at the table, she makes a bit of a face but finally nods.]
So you did this sort of thing a lot? Packed up and just headed out on assignment? Went exploring?
no subject
[She slides away a couple of other items, and when she answers, it's a bit distracted and rambly.]
The trip across the country I mentioned. But there were two others. And, well, when I ran away from home. That sort of counts. And I guess just before I was taken to this place, I was in the middle of traveling somewhere else, though most of them had end points somewhere.
no subject
You ran away from home?
[It's not a forcefully prompted question, demanding an answer, however she is curious as that seems a significant part of her history.]
no subject
[Offhandedly, because she's still thinking over the supplies:] When I was seven.
no subject
Can I ask why?
[By this point Annabeth knows just about everything about Yelena, but she doesn't expect Annabeth to share her life story just because she knows Yelena's.]
no subject
My dad and I didn't get along. He married my stepmom when I was five, and they had two kids. It's...
[The demigod thing is something Yelena should probably know before they head off.]
You know there are gods back home, for me. And you asked how someone gets involved in quests and things? Why everyone doesn't know? Most people aren't aware that the gods still exist - they're an ancient pantheon, long believed gone. But they're still around, and they like to come down and have affairs with mortals.
no subject
That she goes back to the matter of gods, well, that's interesting indeed.]
You mean the gods would come down from...from where they existed and they would...
[She tilts her head at Annabeth.]
Annabeth, your mother?
no subject
But she... wasn't around. She left me for my dad to raise. I was supposed to be a gift, for him. He wasn't exactly grateful at first.

ANNABETH, THE DOCTOR, TRIELA; mid-november
[The closer they get, the more excited Annabeth feels - she has no idea what it is, but it looks amazing. If she starts picking up the pace, she's not sorry, nor is she sorry for pleas and orders of "Hurry up!"]
[Her mind is already going a mile a minute as the structure comes into clearer focus.]
I wonder if it's a temple? [...half of the question is just her thinking aloud, but the other half is actually asking them.]
DAMIAN; middle/end of november
[Except her plans are hindered a little by some unexpected llothi. She's already fought some and gotten an idea of how they work, but really, she's not in the mood for them right now. Unfortunately, they have other ideas, as they stalk her through the terrain. She's quick enough to escape getting hit, but they follow her to the edge of the city.]
[She manages to stab her knife deep into the chest of one of them, though it doesn't quite go down yet. Ducking into a roll, she slides behind a chunk of tall concrete, listening to the creature groan in pain. She knows they'll track her soon enough by smell at the very least, so she uses her limited time to figure out a plan.]
[A plan that may or may not include running to a taller structure on her left and climbing, with the intent of dropping down on one of the llothi from above. Preferably the one she didn't already stab. She gets high enough and lurks in a squatting position, watching as it approaches and getting ready to leap.]
Leeeet's roll!
In the end, the small blade cuts close to the equivalent of the jugular of one of the llothi (still unhurt, and fast), and the boy takes a flying leap and a roll, sword coming down to sever its mate's head.
And he lands in a crouch, looking up to see if he can catch sight of the blonde, the green of his mask OR the green of his hair almost indistinguishable under the blood and gore.]
You still there?
no subject
[Annabeth lets go and jumps back. With a cry, the llothi shakes, and falls over, dead.]
[She squints at the mystery kid.]
That was unnecessary. [She is a little huffy. She had a plan.]
no subject
So what? It needed to be done, anyway! I'd have gotten this one, too.
[Never mind that he missed the fact that the second llothi was still moving, which meant he was the one in (some) danger until she jumped back in.]
They don't seem to be easy to get away from.
no subject
[And she holds up her knife with a sigh, because blood. Normally the monsters she fights disappear, but the llothi don't, so she walks over and wipes the blood off on the body.]
[And she looks at the boy, covered in the mess of battle, and yeah, that won't come off easy. She gestures at the muck and blood.] I meant mostly that, too.
no subject
[It's not actually as accusing as it would have been if he didn't recognize her. Actually, it's almost amused, most of his anger simmering down.
He also raises his eyebrows and shrugs.]
The clothing is designed to clean easy.
[The weapons, however? He uses the llothi fur, too, and then dirt from the street to carefully polish them clean again before sheathing them carefully, all the while alert.]
Were you after something interesting when they attacked you, anyway?
no subject
[She's still a little huffy, but the worst is over, and the llothi being gone is just good in general.]
Design or otherwise, it was unnecessarily messy.
[Annabeth watches him clean off his weapon as she slides her knife back into its sheath, glancing at the area around them in a process. Just in case. And there's something a little familiar about this kid, under the gore.]
I was just going back to the city. [Said with a slight air of 'not that it's relevant to anyone but me.']
no subject
[his eyes move back to the beasts on the ground,]
the outcome is lethal when people are involved.
[Robin turns his face to look at Annabeth.]
This city, or Keeliai? [What. Both were plausible options.] Did they draw you out somehow, or just set upon you?
[Now that the deadly part is over, he is vaguely curious about the third creature that some llothi pairs use to help them hunt.]
no subject
The city. Keeliai's in the other direction. And they just found me. No mimicking from their little friend.
no subject
[And his eyebrows rise, above the mask.]
Whatever that means. Other than that they don't always use the other creature.
no subject
I think they mostly track by scent and sound. That's the impression I've gotten.
[But now that the fight is over she's sort of (subtly) peering curiously, because there is something most definitely familiar about this kid, and the not quite stranger-like way they've fallen into conversation.]
