Situation: Tu Vishan has made landfall on Siaxhi, to explore the Dreaming Watch City of Valishaera.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.

As Tu Vishan draws near, the heavy jungle visible even from miles out quickly identifies the landmass as Siaxhi, one of the westernmost continents in Konryu and one that has been largely untouched insofar as the kedan themselves have gone. There is a natural inlet along the southeast shore on the continent and Tu Vishan makes for that, though he fills nearly all of it.

The mushrooms are huge. Sarah's never seen anything like them. As she wanders, she can't help but look up at the towering shrooms above her. It doesn't take her long to spy a figure bounding from mushroom to mushroom, though who it is, Sarah's not quite sure.

There's a smile on her face before she knows it. Whoever they are, they're all kinds of awesome in her eyes. Awesome until the mushroom fails to spring like the ones before it. "Oh crap," Sarah gasps and starts to run towards Korra. If worst comes to worst, at least she'll be there to help.

This was definitely going to hurt unless she could cushion her fall with airbending. Something Korra was just about to do by letting go, but then she saw a small figure and her face went pale.

Sarah.

"No!" She couldn't let go, not when she needed to make sure that the gigantic stalk didn't fall flat on its top with possibly both of them underneath it. Korra brought her free arm and leg both up to angle them at the mushroom and blustering gale of wind pushed it off course. But she was still attached and it finished toppling with her about to be quashed underneath it.

She braced herself for an incoming body ache.

A loud fwump sent leaves rustling away in a wind and it was quiet for all of a second before Korra's hand reached out from underneath it.

That was definitely not what she'd expected to happen. Her face pales and her expression turns to one of horror as Korra comes crashing down. She's not entirely sure what just happened, if it was always going to be like that or if her being there at changed things in some way. The look on her friends face suggested the latter. Sarah quietly hoped she was wrong.

Forcefields are a new ability to the girl, and while she's grown fairly good at bringing one up around herself, however weak it may be, protecting others is something she hasn't worked out yet. That doesn't stop her from trying though. Unfortunately for Sarah, the best she does is set a bubble around herself as she runs towards where Korra fell.

"K-Korra?!" Please don't be dead.

A muffled grunt came out as her fingers dug down into the soft ground and her other hand came out to help drag herself out from beneath the toppled shroom. The moment her head was out, Korra looked up to see Sarah and gave a bit of an abashed smile. With the ground being so soft and forgiving, it must have looked a lot worse than it felt.

Still, Korra's face was dirty and she was likely to bruise a bit from that height. "Hey. You're okay. I didn't think- Wha-" But her vision focused more and she was stuck staring at the bubble that encompassed the little girl, enough the she forgot about pulling the bottom half of herself out from the mushroom that would probably dig her more into the ground if she stayed.

"Oh thank God you're alright!" she says, breathing a sigh of relief. The bubble around her stays right where it is, the girls focus more on her friend and less on dispelling it.

The trouble with new skills is getting used to using them. For all her practice, she's still got a long way to go. That said, Korra's pause makes the girl pause herself. "Oh uh, this?" She motions to the forcefield around her. "I was tryin' to put it around you. S-sorry about that."

"No, it's okay. This is nothing a little healing won't fix." Korra scrambled the rest of the way out and got to her feet, testing the soft ground flooring with her boot when she did. A weird place, but Korra's had some experience going to strange realms. Right now she was more focused on Sarah's sudden ability.

"I didn't know you could do that. That's amazing." She gave the forcefield a few experimental taps of her finger to see its reaction.

The barrier presses in a half inch with each tap, but otherwise stays in tact. Inside it, Sarah still hasn't moved, her arms to a little out to the sides to keep the bubble in place. She grins at Korra's words. "It's uh, it's kinda new. I only just learned how to do it a while back."

Concentrating, she lowers her hands and when she does, the field around her vanishes. "There. I'm still getting used to it, but one day I'll be good enough to really help people out."

And save her friends from catching themselves with their face.

"That's a cool gift." Korra was strongly reminded of Jinora and she gave a fond smile before straightening up, wincing at her back suddenly popping. "Practice goes a long way. I don't know if it works like bending, but maybe an airbending technique might help."

Once the field vanished, Korra looked up to the mushrooms she was on earlier. "There's some animals here from what I saw up there, so that's probably going to come in handy." She couldn't get back up on her own, not unless she went back to where the terrain made it easier and earthbending could cause more trouble than it was worth since Korra had no familiarity with the place. Not yet.

"Think you're up for exploring a parallel world? It's not my first time, but it's still weird."

She's glad not to be alone in this. Having someone as cool as Korra with her boosts Sarah's confidence tenfold. The kid nods at the question, determined and excited for what's to come.

"Yeah, let's do it!" she says eagerly. "And... maybe we could try the airbending thing as we go? Or another time. I just, really want to get this right."

"You got it. Let’s keep on though. I think I’ve had my fill of tall mushrooms trying to crush me for one day."

Korra made sure to keep pace with Sarah, it was easy enough to do since she had always been good with kids both at home and on Tu Vishan.

"You probably don’t have to do the movements, but focus on ‘around and out’ when you try to do it." She paused long enough to demonstrate a whirling motion of her arms before fanning them out to create a bubble of swirling air around her.

Sarah likes Korra a lot. The older girl is both a friend and role model, in her eyes. Not to mention, Korra's always willing to help out when she's in need. It means a lot. "Yeah, gettin' crushed ain't fun at all."

Next time though, she'll be more prepared. This is something Sarah promises herself. The demonstration has her total attention and when the bubble appears, the girl can't help but mutter an amazed, "Oh, whoa."

Seeing that Korra can do something similar brings a smile to her face. "Say, was it hard for you to learn all your bending?"

Letting the air dissipate, Korra's hair settled as it died away and she gave a smirk at Sarah. She was proud of being a bending prodigy.

"I could bend three elements when I was four, but mastering them? That took years. Air was the only one I couldn't do until I unlocked it over a year ago. Before I wound up here like you did. It's the hardest one for me, but I've had time to practice." Giving a sidelong look, Korra tipped her chin at Sarah.

"Try doing that. The more you do it, the easier it'll get."

Hard work and practice are to be expected, but the kid can't help but wish she were a natural at this stuff. Still, no matter what it takes, Sarah's determined to get this right.

Shuffling a few steps away from Korra, Sarah takes a deep breath and nods. "Okay, I got this." A beat. Sarah shoots Korra a sheepish smile. "Just don't laugh if I mess it up, okay?"

She stops walking, figuring that the less there is going on, the easier it'll be to get it right. The girl inhales, brings her hands in and, doing her best to copy Korra, pushes out with both her body and mind. It takes a moment, but by the time her arms are outstretched, a bubble has formed around her.

"Hey, good job!" Impressed, Korra gave the bubble a firm poke with her finger to test out it's durability as she circled around Sarah.

"Took me forever to get that one down, you're a natural at this." Smiling Korra stopped so she could give the girl some space to work with. "Think you can make it bigger?" A gentle push in helping Sarah start pushing her limits felt like the right thing to do, even though Korra had never been a teacher when it came to bending styles before.

Always the bending student.
