Situation: Tu Vishan has made landfall on Siaxhi, to explore the Dreaming Watch City of Valishaera.

As Tu Vishan draws near, the heavy jungle visible even from miles out quickly identifies the landmass as Siaxhi, one of the westernmost continents in Konryu and one that has been largely untouched insofar as the kedan themselves have gone. There is a natural inlet along the southeast shore on the continent and Tu Vishan makes for that, though he fills nearly all of it.

[Point of clarification. And to undo or remake something natural translated, in her mind, to defying it. Something she was gaining more and more experience with as time passed.]

Is this an attempt to purposely change the subject in hopes of distracting my attention?

A science constructed by your peers, your charts, your measurements. [He's trying, ever so gently, to steer her to understanding.] Do you truly find it easier to accept that we break the laws of science, rather than that alternate laws exist here? Are we so criminal?

[Wlodzislaw then pauses, staring at her. He lifts his hands to tug at the ends of his hair, drops them.] What am I to be distracting you from?

And I have never once implied that your actions are criminal. You defy the laws, not break them.

[In other words, yes, it was easier for her to comprehend the former.]

What we're talking about now doesn't merit conversation status? [That actually confuses him. Distracting from their conversation by having a conversation? The point she's making is lost on him.]

What is defiance of a law if not to break it for yourself or someone else? A declaration of unscientific practice or injustice, perhaps. I don't find your laws to be unsound. I only find ours to be different, as you are different to me and I am different to others.

[His confusion was beginning to confuse her. Aya tended to prefer straightforwardness, remaining vague only when her full intention was to clarify if asked.]

The difference lays with your intent. To break the laws would be to deliberately oppose out of either objection or sense of superiority. Your realm merely defies them, simply because it appears to be its own nature to do so.

Ah, a word game. Yes. Explain how our laws differ from yours without using the word 'defy' or any derivative thereof. Unless I am understanding correctly that you view the dan'effrei existing in defiance of your Realm. Defiance. [He chuckles lightly at another joke not obvious to anyone but him.]

Balance, my dear. Just as laws here are not the same as yours of Life, nor are they the same in Death. Balance keeps Life living and Death dying and all the rest. To defy any one is to create imbalance, as your presence here does right now.

[An eyebrow rose at that.]

My presence has been described as an inconvenience before, among other things, but you are the first to claim it is causing an imbalance of sorts.

There is a first for most things. Not everything, of course. A common misconception. To be clear, I'm not speaking of you as an individual. Your collective. The lot of you, all thinking in your limited ways and Life-bound directions. It creates an imbalance. A small one, for now. Enough for us to handle with a bit of extra care and attention. You need not worry.

[He gives her a warm smile. Hopeless or not, she's still a nice person and he's happy to continue to support and guide her in time.]

Then...the imbalance is because we came here as a group?

[As always, she was simply trying to understand. The realm did not follow the rules of the one she originated from. Possibly neither from the realms the others came from as well. If there presence was creating some sort of disturbance, and there was little to be done other than leave...would leaving not be the most logical option?]

Among other things. Certain Death forces at play don't help any.
