Situation: Tu Vishan has made landfall on Siaxhi, to explore the Dreaming Watch City of Valishaera.

As Tu Vishan draws near, the heavy jungle visible even from miles out quickly identifies the landmass as Siaxhi, one of the westernmost continents in Konryu and one that has been largely untouched insofar as the kedan themselves have gone. There is a natural inlet along the southeast shore on the continent and Tu Vishan makes for that, though he fills nearly all of it.

Ah those reasons are a little different, I admit. [Enjolras does smile as it comes to those.]

I think that a paper might help to bind us all closer together, for one. Things like sending reporters out to gather information on events, or even the people here. The press is one of the greatest ways, at home, to spread a message, and to find support. I am not certain it will work here, it only seems worth the try.

Having everything important, and even what is only interesting in print may also help those who come here after us, if they should do so. And, well." There is a little duck of his head there and then he's smiling, the same way someone might when speaking of somebody that they love deeply.

"I rather miss it, in general. It is...one thing from home that I can replicate, I think, in experience at least." In the rest, well, not so much.

[Meaning he must have been some sort of newspaper man in his home world. A person who spread information to others. She loved the idea instantly, save for one small detail:]

What languages can you write in? The network only translates when we speak.

[At least, he worked as one and had hoped to settle in the career after finishing with his law degree to satisfy his parents. Not that Enjolras had put much effort into that degree when there were other questions that mattered more to him than learning, and upholding, a legal system he did not agree with. In any case, the education did supply him with an easy reference for everything, exactly, that was wrong in the world.

It was simply more the matter of him attending class when he had other work to do that created something of the problem. Granted, he'd absorbed enough he could have sat the bar, which happens when you keep company with creatures like a Bahorel, but drawing out the process had given him a good excuse to stay in Paris for as long as he had managed it, and set him up well for the work of social justice and rebellion, and chronicling the issues for the masses. It was where Enjolras had truly felt alive, at least. Of course, that detail WAS the problem.]

Ah, exactly why I have been asking for volunteers in those areas. Greek, I could manage, and perhaps Latin, but anything other than those or French is a large part of my problem. I've run into it in the hospital too.

And what an idiot I am. During the festival, recently, Asti himself offered those of us caring for the hatchings a boon. I ought to have asked him for another language.

[It was almost funny how he brought up Asti and the boon. Midii even smiled.]

I did.

He gave me the ability to understand both English and the local language.

[Catching the smile at that, Enjolras was a bit surprised, seeing an expression like that on her face, but then, soon enough, her reasons became clear and he found himself smiling back.]

Did you, indeed? This makes things infinitely better if I might hire you on some sort of translation basis.

[Not that he's figured out compensation. Like at all. This is gonna be amazing, clearly.]

[There were few things in Keelai that would make her genuinely happy these days, but being able to admit knowing something others didn't? Pretty high up there.]

Back home, she had existed to care for her family. Doing what she did to make sure they would survive, even if she didn't. But here, Midii lived only for herself. Except she had been summoned to help. They must have chosen her for a reason, right?]

A lot of the people here seem to speak mostly English. There are other languages, but besides French, the two most common I've heard are English and Japanese, which I've been fluent in since I was young.

[Pride in something like that, particularly when it could be useful, was the sort of thing that Enjolras would never have considered wrong, but instead, a useful talent to be used for the good of all. Well, of course, if the one with the talent wished to share it. He was becoming aware, somewhat, of how his phrasing these sorts of statements could come out to be somewhat demanding to those who did not know him well.

Keeping that in mind meant that he amended things sometimes, even when they were only thoughts. It was not that he meant to sound like something of a dictator himself, merely that he got ahead of the social niceties sometimes, though he was working to improve that.]

That would be wonderful. I've had a few people step up already, so it seems like we can develop a strong team along the way.

Who else have you spoken to about it?

A young lady called Hayley and a few others. We've amassed quite the variety of languages I think. So far, so good, really.

[Hayley. She knew the name, in the sense that she recognized it. One from over the Networks. Regarding personal connections, however, she was coming up empty.]

Do we know how many languages actually exist? On the chance we accidentally leave somebody out, it might be a good idea to ask.

I had considered something of a poll, actually. I would hate for too many people to be left out of a first edition just because we did not know what languages they spoke.

[Enjolras either, really. He'd simply asked for his volunteers and was continuing to plan to run from something like that. It may not be the worst business strategy ever, but it was far from the best. He'd been too long in planning strategies that were not written down, and that were subject to change in the details for too long, really. Thinking like an editor and like a reporter, or like an editor and a leader of a revolutionary society were incredibly different things though, weren't they?]

I think that I have a LOT to learn about these things, still.

Well, going from my experience, English is a good place to start. From there, we can always ask, like you said. Over the Network.

The network does seem to be the easiest way to do that, offhand, yes. And English will be an amazing help.

[There's more of a smile on his face now than there was earlier, and, really, for very good reasons.]

I am actually rather glad that you will be a part of this.

[She may be young, actually, everyone who has stepped up to help seems rather young, at that, but Enjolras has always known Midii to be thoughtful and rather careful, which he supposes has a lot to do with her training. Those skills might as well be put to use in doing something that is not so dangerous, at least for a little while.]

Besides the skills you've mentioned? You seem to be quite careful and thoughtful too. Those are good skills to bring to a project like this, along with the more technical ones. It seems like there will be less of a margin of error there, if that makes any sort of sense?

And you are a countrywoman too, a sister of the republic even though your France is vastly different. Call it a slight bias if you absolutely must, but still, it reassures me somewhat to have more than one of us working on this.

[It had...been a while since Midii had been complimented in such a way. By anyone. Her reaction hadn't gotten much better since; she lowered her eyes to hide the faint smile and blush forming.]
