Situation: Tu Vishan has made landfall on Siaxhi, to explore the Dreaming Watch City of Valishaera.

As Tu Vishan draws near, the heavy jungle visible even from miles out quickly identifies the landmass as Siaxhi, one of the westernmost continents in Konryu and one that has been largely untouched insofar as the kedan themselves have gone. There is a natural inlet along the southeast shore on the continent and Tu Vishan makes for that, though he fills nearly all of it.

On some level, Annabeth can see that. It's not exactly something she'd admit either, in a similar situation.

"And now I realize I got your turtle's name before yours. I'm Annabeth."

"Midii."

With a start, she realized Annabeth was right. How she used to introduce herself right away, out of sheer habit. And survival; the enemy--or, rather, a scout soldier patrolling the area--was less likely to shoot if they knew who you were. She didn't have to worry about anything like that here, and had developed a habit of diving straight into the point.

"And that's alright. I knew your turtle before I knew your name, too."

She shrugs it off, waving her hand. "Propriety doesn't seem all that important here. The turtles, however, do. Hello Midii."

Annabeth would be lying if she didn't admit to being somewhat curious about the girl though - how many people can call themselves a friend of Damian's like that? Whether or not Midii actually said so out loud, it's pretty clear that was the case.

If she wanted answers, she would have to ask questions; Midii wasn't one to up and volunteer much information on her own.

"It's one of the few things I know I can do to help around here."

"It's still a pretty big job. Their giant selves can be a handful." She says it with complete affection, despite topical content.

i see no sucking here

"No worse than my brothers were."

Spoken with equal amounts of affection and truth. There was only one Riva. She had three brothers. Even taking into account the fact that Michel had always been a perfect angel, there were the twins to consider.

There's a flicker of a grin. "Siblings can definitely be a lot of effort."

Both of the godly and mortal (also twin) nature, in her case. Things still feel off with Matthew and Bobby sometimes - not that she's seen either of them in almost two years now. "The turtles are a little easier, I think. We've got coparents on that end at least."

That much was true. It had been her against three...verses her and Sep and Rapunzel against Riva, here. Those odds were a lot more in her favor.

"Do you get along with your coparents?"

[sophos]

"Yeah. They're both nice. Poor Captain Bobby's... been through a handful of them, since hatching." Something a little sad flickers on her face, but it's gone quickly. "What about you?"

[unetrustworthy]

"We've always gotten along well enough. Myself, Septimus and Rapunzel."

It wasn't until Annabeth mentioned Captain Bobby having been through a handful that Midii realized just how rare it was for a baby turtle to have managed to keep the same set of parents from the beginning. She was beginning to think she was the only one.

"Though...sometimes, I help take care of Taraja too. She's lost a few caretakers recently, but I know at least two of her new ones."

(Actually, three, but she didn't know she knew the third one also yet.)

She nods, smiling faintly. "I was helping to look after Captain Bobby, even before I was his parent. I don't mind helping out my friend Frank with his turtle either."

They can be a handful sometimes.

The name. Frank.

"Do you mean the tall boy with dark hair who suddenly had muscles one day?"

She perks up a little. She remembers being surprised by the transformation herself too. "Frank Zhang. You know him, I take it?"

"I do. We're..." Friends was a precious word for her, and one that she had ever used with few individuals. Allies also sounded wrong. "...we talk sometimes. About different things.

"He told me about his father. A little."

Annabeth recognizes the uncertainty over word choice and waits patiently for Midii to decide.

A grin plays on her lips. "What about him, exactly?"

...there are a variety of ways a conversation like that could have gone, okay? The whole god thing included.

"We were talking in front of some sort of...shrine, I guess?" Her familiarity with religion started and stopped at Christianity. His own rituals were about as foreign to her as Keelai had once been. "He was explaining how he was giving him some kind of offering, even though he wasn't here."
