TEL VISHAN BEACH PARTY
Characters: OPEN
Date: Saturday, August the 9th
Location: The Shell 'Coastline' nearest the Water Sector
Situation: Baby Turtle Beach Party!
-
At the edge of Asti's shell there are coastlines of natural deposits that make up the closest thing to a 'beach' that they'll ever find in Keeliai. It's here that the official Tel Vishan Beach Party is set to take place. All turtle 'parents' will have gotten a message from their respective hatchlings about said party (perhaps a nice change from the whining and the temper tantrums).
Temporary shaded areas built with poles and sheets for weary parents or hatchlings who do decide to come, and some simple snacks and refreshments have been set up as well. There's a fishing net set up to act as a volleyball net for the day, and a ball waiting in the sand for some players.
The rest is up to those who come.

When he spotted Zuko, though, he stood up, dusted the sand off himself, and jogged over to say hi.]
Zuko! How are you?
no subject
Huh?
I'm fine. ... What's going on here?

[Wan grinned and pointed at one of the turtles that wasn't ambling around on the beach, and was, instead, laying half-covered in the water of the shallows and looked very contented.]
That one is the one that adopted me. Her name is Rio'era.
no subject
[But when Wan points to one of the turtles, he looks, and pauses.]
The turtle had babies?
[His gaze then wanders to the other turtles, as if looking for one in particular. Though he's not sure what he's looking for exactly.]
no subject
No. The Great Turtle didn't give birth to them. They're still his children, but they were born of another Great Turtle who's gone now.
[Hoping that would be enough, Wan set a hand on his hip.]
What's wrong with having a party? You and I and a few others may be 'stuck', but to the Turtle Children, this is their home. And to the Kedan, too. Most of those 'stuck' here are trying to find a way to end the threat of the Great Darkness, but until we have a way to do that, we have time to spend on other things. To find peace where we can. Not every moment can be spent fighting.

Zuko sighs at Wan's argument. He has a point, but Zuko just can't quite bring himself to celebrate being in a place he doesn't want to be in. Not yet anyway.
He looks like he's about to respond, but then something telepathically calls to him. Glancing at Wan, Zuko looks back to the water again. Confused and unsure of what he just heard.]
Did you hear that?
[It's about this time that one of the young turtles comes out of the water and trundles in their direction.]
no subject
No. I didn't hear her. Her words are for you.
[...]
I think that one's a her.

[Zuko is perplexed by this, but he's feels drawn to... her... somehow. Thus he starts walking towards the turtle. Meeting her halfway, he reaches out to touch her. Feeling a sense of joy and contentment, which brings a smile to his face. Quite a change to Mr. Grumpy just a minute ago.]
Yin? My name is Zuko.
no subject
Hello Yin.
[Then he looked back at Zuko.]
I guess you've been adopted, too. I can leave you alone if you want some time to get to know her.
no subject
No wait. I don't know anything about taking care of a... turtle.
no subject
Oh. Um... well, it's not that hard. Though you do have to watch out for them more with this heat than you usually do. You can't just dump a bucket of ice over them because that could be as dangerous as letting them get too hot.
no subject
[Cause that can't be all there is to it.]
What do they eat?
no subject
Practically everything. Sometimes you'll have to let them know that just because the rug looks super colorful and tasty, it's not meant to be eaten. They're smart and learn fast, but they don't know what everything is. Mostly, you have to stop them from eating things. The rest they do on their own.
[A beat.]
Oh, and you might have to explain how sex and babies work for humans. Someone made most of them think humans hatched from eggs inside a woman's stomach because they hatch from eggs and there was this really bad mental image of a human being ripped apart by a grown child that was going around...
[Wan shuttered a little.]
It took me three hours of covering the details to assure Rio'era that that's not how it worked.
no subject
[Zuko just stares at Wan. He couldn't be serious! He's going to have to explain... THAT to a baby turtle?!
He then looks over at Yin.]
NO! That's not how it works!
no subject
Maybe I should leave you two alone to get to know each other.
[Yes, he was, in fact, trying to sneak away.]
no subject
Hey! You can't just leave me like this! You're the one who brought it up!
no subject
[He had been trying to be nice.]
no subject
But now she won't stop asking about it!
[Really Wan. Did you have to mention sex in front of the turtle?]
no subject
Then explain it to her. Get it over with.
1/2
no subject
[Asklghds. How is he supposed to do this?! How do you give THE TALK to a turtle! IN PUBLIC. ... You try to pass the buck.]
You had three hours of practice! You do it!
no subject
Do you not know how sex works?
no subject
Of course I know how it works!
[Zuko then looks over at Yin again before slumping in defeat at something she says.]
Okay, fine.
no subject
Then what's the problem?
[That was an honest question. Wan was reluctant only because he'd been through it before. The Avatar dropped himself fluidly back into the sand. Waiting.]
Animals have sex differently than humans, so if you need help with that part, I don't mind helping if you get stuck.
no subject
[Zuko folds his arms in what could be interpreted as a pout. He then slides his gaze towards Yin and sighs. He supposes he should get this over with.]
Okay, so... when a person, or a turtle, love each other very much...
[No no... that doesn't sound right. Zuko puts a hand to his chin and starts to pace. Trying to figure out how to word this. How would uncle do it?]
Sex is a lot like... kissing. With your butt.
[Yeah that sounds about right.]
You exchange a little spit, and then a baby happens.
