You're going to hear me roar
Characters: Wan and OTA for anyone wanting to help him with his attempt to possess Asti
Date: between 10/15 and 10/24
Location: Zuko's
Situation: lots of talking and planning and trying to coordinate things in secret
Warnings/Rating: none
10/16 & 10-17 For those who've been contacted directly via Inboxes/Turtles
Wan had sent the messages from his console after spending a few hours mediating under his lantern. It was all the time he was going to spare for that consideration while he still felt that Zuko needed him there. Not all the time, since he was getting better and obviously so, but enough that he wanted to stay with him in the building that had been secured from further intrusions by violent kedan.
He wasn't going to wait for messages back, just hope that the people he contacted would come.
[[As Wan is staying with Zuko still, he's asked that meetings happen there. If you don't want Zuko to tag in occasionally, let us know.]]
For those who've heard about this indirectly and want in
Wan had gotten the word out mostly through Dante and Michelangelo, and had high hopes that whomever they contacted would get in touch with him. Since they knew so many more people than he did. He was nervous, but he'd given both firm answers about where he could be found. And maybe, just maybe, they could get organized enough to pull this off. Without Wan's soul being ripped apart or swallowed by the vastness of Asti's own personality and lifeforce.

He held up one hand, "I'm going to assume it's bad. But how bad is it?"
(I do not have a proper icon for this)
"It is hard to explain," She said, it was really too complicated to explain at all, so she would have to simplify it, "Hell is like a prison for those convicted of breaking the law. My past self decided which laws had been broken and there was no mercy or trial..." She felt her eyes begin to water, but she wouldn't allow any tears to fall, it was time to face who she had been. "I just...used the power of the void to tear their souls from their bodies."
no subject
"What's the void? I think it must be different in your world than it is in mine."
no subject
"I don't even really understand it," Valdis said, "But it is what allows me to enter, identify and seize the soul of another."
It all sounded so horrible, and was made even worse by the fact that she had tried using it in the fight with Anton.
"What is this all about, Wan?" She asked, desperate to get the spotlight off of her, "Why the sudden interest in my power?"

"I'd tell you how dangerous and stupid that idea is," she replied, coming back to her senses, "But a similar thought crossed my mind as well...What was your plan?"
She would never have counted Wan among the number of potentially suicidal people on the turtle, but if he was going to try something, she wanted to help him come back alive.

Terrible was a bit of an understatement.

And the bond, accident that it was, was actually something Wan had done to Raava. Forced upon her during Harmonic Convergence. Wan knew quiet a bit about possession himself. At least how possession in his world worked.
"But that's another problem I have. I don't know if it works the same here, in this world. I know how humans are possessed in my world, but I don't know if it's that's how it's done here. I can still try it the way I'm familiar with..."
But unless that's how it worked for creatures like Tu Vishan and Malicant, it probably wasn't going to work all that well. He'd need a lot of power to force it if that's the only way they could try to do it.

They needed more information on possession, so she might as well share what she knew. "Possession isn't easy," she said, thinking back, "It requires certain criteria. You need a way in, a path, an invitation, which is the easiest. In my world, Demons are very good at getting invitations. Though the invitation is subtle, mostly based upon mistakes by the person the demon is targeting. But you aren't going to get an invite from Mali."
Hellhounds didn't even bother with any of that. They merely waltzed in the backdoor and took what they wanted. Valdis' smiled as an idea began to form in her head. What they needed was a backdoor. She could use the Void to make that backdoor and enter Tu Vishan's soul like she had discussed with Raine, but she needed to get Wan inside as well.
Her smile faded, replaced by a tentative worry. "I have an idea." she said slowly, not certain that she should even voice what she was thinking, "How much do you trust me?"

This was not something he'd told anyone from his world directly before. He'd never really gone into the details of it or put much thought into it. He knew the first time Raava passed through him that he might end up with tentacles of light growing out of his head or his legs fusing into a tail. And despite knowing that, he hadn't thought twice about allowing her to do so.
His eyebrows raised at the question, though, and when he answered, he didn't think twice about that either, "Completely."

When he answered her question, Valdis almost sighed with relief. Even after everything she had told him about her power, he was still willing to place his trust in her.
"During the battle with Anton, I tried to take his soul," she told him, though with less hesitation than she would have expected, "But I didn't and, though it took me some time, I realized that it was possible to use the void to enter someone's essence without taking their soul. "I was planning on attempting to enter Tu Vishan's soul by myself to see if Mali truly had destroyed the turtle's original essence."
"If you trust me as you say," she paused. This plan was dangerous, because though she had planned to enter the turtle, at the time she had only been planning on putting herself at risk. "Then I might be able use the void to take your intertwined souls and pull it into the turtle with me when I enter the spiritual plane."
There were so many risks accompanying this plan. Wan could be lost to the void. The void could recoil on her. She might not be able to pull Wan out of the turtle if things went wrong. Mali might destroy them both. But then there was Raava.
"I believe that Raava can protect you from falling into the void..." or at least she hoped that the spirit could, "If she can find the barrier that protects my soul and can cross it, then you will be safe there."
She hoped that he would disagree with the idea, but it was really all she could offer him.

That was mostly what his thoughts revolved around, rather than if he should try it or not. Because there wasn't really a better plan so far. He nodded, "Okay. We can try that. I've already spoken to Dante and he's going to be trying to help get people together to cause distractions and see if anyone knows how possession in this world works. Or if they know any good locations for doing this that will make it easier. If we can't find any, then we'll be doing this at the Turtle's Head."
A beat: "Unless you need to do this at a specific place on the Great Turtle's body?"
no subject
Then the silence broke. She stiffened when he told her they could try it. And then he mentioned Dante and distractions. They would definitely need distractions, but it meant that more people might get hurt.
"I just need physical contact with the being in question, it will help ensure that the void doesn't touch anyone else by accident." The last thing she needed was to accidently rip one her ally's souls from them.
"Raine mentioned a place other than the turtle's head, but she said that it was dangerous to go there." She hadn't actually mentioned where the location was, "That she would have died if she had been alone. I can heal myself, so she doesn't think it would affect me, but it would affect anyone else that came with me."
no subject
"But he didn't speak of anything other than potential enemies trying to oppose us. If that is all it is, then Zuko should be able to hold them off until we're done."

The ritual chamber wasn't pretty, and it didn't help with the physical contact, but the power boost, if it didn't consume her, might make success more likely.
"But it adds a whole new dimension to the dangers associated with this plan."

"I'll talk to Raine," She said, hoping that the light mage would have a better location, "But the turtle's head might be the first place Mali would expect us to attack."

It would mean that she wouldn't have to kill him like she had promised.
