Situation: North has just arrived and is feeling lost and lonely since he's arrived without his AI, and doesn't quite remember what happened in his final moments before he was transported to Tu Vishan.

[He wasn't familiar with the city, but luckily once he'd found his way out of his sector, he found that York's apartment wasn't far. This was definitely a different sort of area than the area where he'd been placed. He had kept an eye out for shops, since it seemed weird to arrive as a guest empty-handed, but then realized he'd left his juulan at home. He really was still suffering from the effects of waking up in the sea.

He had to content himself, in the end, with the fact that he'd arrived in a fairly timely manner, and he knocked on the door of what he hoped was the correct place.]

Nah, Kara, should be fine. 's your place too, y'know.

[ York ducks into the room he's sharing with Kara after setting the glass she gives him down with a murmur of thanks. He comes out a few moments later with some spare clothes, passing them over to him. ]

Here, Godzilla. No shoes for you, but there are socks.

[knowsmadness]

[ ... it is? huh. the startlement registers on her face before she shrugs, grins, and takes a sip before sauntering back out of the kitchen. ]

Nice to meet you. I promise I still out of your way and only marginally intervene.

[ but if York says she can stay she can stay - she'll be nosy when it suits her. ]

[bothbarrels]

Yeah, it's nice to meet you too.

[ He rolls his eyes at York's comment about his height. ]

You know, one day you're going to get over the fact that I'm taller than you.

[ It doesn't take him long to change, though he realizes he really is going to want to wash up. His underarmor is sticking to him because of the way salt water had trickled in the few vulnerable spots. He returns, and retrieves his glass from the counter, starting with a short draft to taste it. ]

I can't handle my jealousy, okay.

[ York leans against the counter with a grin, just so, so glad to be back and bantering like this, easy as it is. ]

...So what...happened before everything went to hell?

[bothbarrels]

[ He shakes his head and looks down at his glass for a moment, letting out a light huff of breath. ]

They were repeating the same stuff and expecting different results. Wash woke up more than one time, out of his mind just like the first time. They finally pulled Epsilon, but not until just around the same time you came back.

[agentdork]

...Jesus.

[ York drags his hand over his face, and tries not to get too upset about it, but it's hard. Wash didn't deserve that. ]

Never shoulda left.

[bothbarrels]

There was no way to know it'd...end up like that. I thought we had a chance, a good chance.

[agentdork]

Me too. We worked too damn hard for it to just--

[ Except it did. It turned out shitty, and they couldn't save anyone. ]

...I dunno. Just thought it'd work out better.

[bothbarrels]

I got South out.

[ He says it quietly, because he knows the sacrifice York made in letting him be the inside man. And it worked out, for him. Not for York, though. Maybe if York had stayed in that role things would have worked out better for him. But there was no way to know now, no use in regretting, and honestly, North felt he had room to be a little bit selfish in that. Carolina would have been harder to turn, inside man or no.

And on the other hand...

But no, he can't believe that. Maine had simply moved faster than her, outwitted her somehow. ]

Yeah?

[ He doesn't regret it. North needed to be in, needed to be given an option to get her out, because who was he to say South didn't deserve to get out? ]

I'm glad. You two deserved it.

[bothbarrels]

I'm grateful. I know you two didn't always get along.

[agentdork]

No, but she's your baby sister.

[ He says it easily, because he's got siblings, too. He'd bend over backwards for them. ]

[bothbarrels]

[ He laughs at that, reminiscing for a moment. ]

She used to hate when I'd call her that.

[agentdork]

She was a little prickly.

[ That's to say the least. ]

[bothbarrels]

[ He's feeling a little more fondly toward his sister than usual right now, especially since he needs to keep his mind from lingering on just what was going on Maine had come after him. She'd been there, of course she'd done her best. ]

I hope she's coping with it. With me ending up--

With her ending up alone.

[ And North is well on his way to finishing his drink. He'll probably have that food York's set aside for him first, though. If he drinks at the rate he'd in the mood for, he'll be smashed before too long. ]

[ York drags a hand over his face. It's rough, knowing that something went wrong, that things ended up going to shit and Theta's not coming back, most likely, because Epsilon was the only one left. ]

She's strong. I bet she'll be just fine, man. She's able to hold her own.

I fell asleep just then, no worries!

[bothbarrels]

Yeah. I know she is.

[ He's not able to put his concerns into words; he's not even willing to let those thought come, really, so he shakes his head to clear it and sets his glass down. ]

What about that lunch?

[agentdork]

[ Oh, yeah, Lunch.

York rolls to his feet with a yawn, and grabs his drink to take it with him, heading for the kitchen. ]

Preference 'side from not an MRE? Thrace, you want anything?

[bothbarrels]

Anything fresh is a vast improvement from anything I've had to eat lately.

[agentdork]

Sandwiches okay?

[ It's fairly quick, after all, and it sounds good to him. York slips into the fridge and snags what he needs, starting up on some, humming idly. ]

How's your drink?

[knowsmadness]

Nah, I'm good.

[ she's just being nosy and listening; Kara doesn't have to actively take part in all conversations all the time - every so often, she's fantastic at focusing on something, especially if she's interested in the subject. ]

[bothbarrels]

Sandwiches...sound amazing. [ Even something as simple as bread is something he hasn't had the chance to enjoy in a while. ]

The drink was fine. Might like a beer for the next one, if I could.

[agentdork]

[ He makes two quick sandwiches and brings one out with a beer, handing both to North with a faint smile. ]

[bothbarrels]

Thanks. [ He accepts the food and the drink and settles comfortably with them in his lap. ] I don't think a sandwich ever looked so good.

I know, right.

[ York flops in between them with a bite of his sandwich, humming in contentment. ]
