[ Astrid's been quiet since her arrival, and with all the extra strangeness going on since then... Olivia's a little worried about her. She's decided to go check on her - at the very least, it seems she should introduce herself to this version of Astrid, maybe offer her a little company...

She's just crossed over into the Earth Sector when the bodies start dropping from the barrier. The wet thump of a body against stone catches her attention instantly; she turns, startled, and without thinking starts to move toward the body even as the kedan on the street shout in alarm, some crowding closer to look while others back away. At first she can't see it clearly through the crowd, but even then, it's obvious something is wrong, as if the kedan's reaction alone doesn't indicate that. There's something about the color of the skin, off even for the kedan, and...

Zombie, is the first thought, when Olivia actually gets a clear look at it. She's seen the post on the network, heard murmurs among the kedan, and maybe the barrier was supposed to keep them back... but that is very definitely a waterlogged corpse, and as Olivia watches, it starts to push itself upright.

The reaction among the kedan crowded around is instantaneous - they run, stumbling over each other, but clearing out in fairly short order... which leaves Olivia standing alone just a few yards from it. She freezes, her eyes locked on the corpse as it tries to sort out limbs somewhat damaged from the fall, breath caught in her throat. She backs away one slow step, two, like it's a wild animal, because some part of her knows if it chases her, she doesn't have a chance. Her free hand moves instinctively for a gun that's not there, and she lets out a soft breath that's almost a laugh as she remembers.

Of course. Just her luck. ]

[Raylan has never shot a waterlogged corpse before. He's used to people - a haze of blood like pollen as the back of the skull flowers open to empty its contents into the air.

He also usually aims for the heart, because if you miss you at least take a chunk from the target - not that he misses.

But this thing, as soon as he sees Olivia stuck in the open, gets a bullet through the forehead. He's seen enough zombie movies to go with instinct on this one - plus what good will shooting a dead thing in the heart do?

The back of the thing's head blows open, spattering putrified remains against the shell.

And it isn't dead. Isn't... more dead. It's still upright, is the material point, and Raylan ducks to Olivia's side as it orients on the two of them with whatever remains of its senses.]
Well. That didn't work. You have much experience Romero would approve of?

[ Olivia backpedals a few quick steps when she realizes the thing's still standing after being shot in the head - her leg protests and nearly goes out from under her, and she just manages to catch herself with the help of the cane, but this is impossible and terrifying even by her standards. Even for her, this doesn't seem real, and she can't help wondering in a distant, distracted way what Peter would make of this, or Walter.

Well, okay, she knows what Walter would think of it. He'd be delighted, and he'd probably insist they capture it so he can poke it in the comfort of the lab. Yeah, she's a little glad he's not here at the moment, to be honest. ]

Ah... not exactly. All the dead people I've ever run into are a lot less... ambulatory. [ God, she misses her gun right now... Even after seeing how little good Raylan's did, it would at least make her feel better. ]
