Characters: Soranik Natu & YOU
Date: February 22
Location: Fire Sector
Situation: Natu begins to stock up on things she's going to need to practice medicine if she can't use her ring
Warnings/Rating: None
[ It really only strikes Soranik on how ingrained the use of her power ring is when she can't use it anymore. There were certain allowances she was prepared to use it for (such as anything when dealing with the virus infected individual and general medical emergencies) but the mundane tasks that were simply managed better with the ring? Not allowed.
Which brought her back to her original problem - getting basic medical supplies. While the ring could easily bring up someone's vitals and monitor them, Soranik felt that the constant use of it for that would drain her ring faster than she'd like. Dressed in some loose pants she'd found in her own district and the black tank she normally wore under her uniform, she made her way through the other districts - picking up things here and there.
At least that was the plan, until she found herself in the Fire Sector with far too many boxes in her hands to grab the one she'd just bought - filled with various things the herbalist swore would dull pain when ground up and applied to wounds or bruises. ]
Just put it on top of everything else.
[ She'd manage. ]

Just put it on top of everything else.
[ She'd manage. ]
Forgive the brat.
[Have an eleven-year-old dressed locally but very much earth-human. Who dipped in the herb store to replenish some stores, because bats, but is now staring at her unimpressed. (Doubly so if she is wearing her ring.)]

I have better things to spend my money on.
[ Her own expression is indifferent - she's far more focused on the packages than she is Damian. ]
no subject
[Yeah, no, not very high opinion of her already. But still.]
Would you require assistance?
no subject
[ Also a good sense of balance. ]
Should I expect more of your attitude if I say 'yes'?
no subject
[Damian considers this, and then responds truthfully and indifferently.]
Yes.
no subject
Fine.
[ But so help her, that doesn't mean she has to tolerate it completely. ]
no subject
[The plus side? Unlike Grayson, Damian is not inclined to chatter, instead efficiently takes packages from her until she can easily see her way, and then pushes the door open, propping it with his foot so she can leave, too. Ninja grace? Ninja grace, completely unconscious.]
no subject
[ Said as she passes him and his door propping skills. Luckily for both of them, however, Soranik isn't one for small talk either. ]
no subject
[... has she found the shortcuts, yet? Because Damian's been around here for months, he starts towards one of those.]
no subject
Do not think I will allow you to purposefully lead me astray.
[ You know, just in case. ]
no subject
What, afraid an eleven-year-old will beset you in a dark alley?
Not I.
no subject
Only wondering if you'd find it amusing to strand me somewhere.

The number of non-kedan in Keeliai is not that great, particularly at my age. Such a course of action would be completely ridiculous, on my part.
Watch your step.

[ The Corps also runs on recklessness and ridiculous as well as willpower - it's probably why a lifetime appointment lasts four years on average.
But she does watch her step. ]
no subject
[He has done worse. But not today. Not anymore.]
[... that's not a lot.]
[And good. Because there are weirdly spaced low steps scattered along the passage he leads her through. Though it takes noticeably less time to reach her sector, and he starts towards the general location of the foreigners' suites there.]
no subject
[ Once they get somewhere she recognizes she slides in front of Damian to finish leading the way to her residence. But not without looking back and trying to memorize the shortcut - it'll come in handy later, she's sure of it.
At least until she can fly again. ]

[And then, out of the blue.]
Are you aware that, on Tu Vishan, the main industry of Wayne Enterprises is pharmaceuticals?
no subject
[ Space, Damian. ]
no subject
[Damian hesitates for a moment, then goes on as if that didn't rattle him.]
Well, now you have. And you would have, if you had looked for important information already available on the network.
no subject
[ They've reached her residence, all three stories of it. Soranik considers it overkill, but it will come in use soon enough. She had the foresight to leave the door unlocked and she holds it open for Damian to follow if he wants. ]
no subject
There are differences between practicing medics and research and production. It was my impression that you had inquired after the first variety. But the focus of Wayne Enterprises is pharmaceuticals, and, since the kedan biology can be rather different from human, in some ways, can be the sole source for various items.
It would probably not come up as a working place opportunity. But you may consider including it in your research, once you have settled with that.
no subject
[ She doesn't press the issue, however, and once she's completely unloaded herself, takes the remainder of his boxes out of politeness. ]
I will, now that I know of it.
no subject
[When he is relieved of his load, he gives her a small bow.]
Then I wish you success in your endeavors.
[He can see himself out.]
no subject
[ A return nod of her own head as he leaves, before she has to consider what she's going to do with everything. ]
