Characters: Soranik Natu & YOU
Date: February 22
Location: Fire Sector
Situation: Natu begins to stock up on things she's going to need to practice medicine if she can't use her ring
Warnings/Rating: None
[ It really only strikes Soranik on how ingrained the use of her power ring is when she can't use it anymore. There were certain allowances she was prepared to use it for (such as anything when dealing with the virus infected individual and general medical emergencies) but the mundane tasks that were simply managed better with the ring? Not allowed.
Which brought her back to her original problem - getting basic medical supplies. While the ring could easily bring up someone's vitals and monitor them, Soranik felt that the constant use of it for that would drain her ring faster than she'd like. Dressed in some loose pants she'd found in her own district and the black tank she normally wore under her uniform, she made her way through the other districts - picking up things here and there.
At least that was the plan, until she found herself in the Fire Sector with far too many boxes in her hands to grab the one she'd just bought - filled with various things the herbalist swore would dull pain when ground up and applied to wounds or bruises. ]
Just put it on top of everything else.
[ She'd manage. ]

Just put it on top of everything else.

Take as many as you want - I'll manage the rest.
[ That makes two terribly uncomfortable people trying vainly to pretend like they aren't wishing they could be somewhere else. ]

[He smiles fades to a confused line. It's not hard to sense the tension here. As much as he wants to ask, this may be better off when it's just him and Kyle. Connor takes as many boxes as he can and gives Kyle a "what gives" look.]

[ She takes a moment to rearrange whatever is left before finally gesturing for Kyle to lead the way. ]

Connor watches Kyle move up ahead. He's tempted to move with him, but he stays behind to see if he can find out what that was all about. He gives Natu side glance to get her reaction.]
That's the first time I've seen him like that.

You must have known each other for a long time - he mentions you often enough.
[ Now that she actually recognizes the name. ]

We've been friends for some time now. Off duty friends are hard to come by in our line of work. It doesn't seem like that's the case with the Corps.

[ Soranik misses Iolande, despite their own rough patches. ]

What sector were you guarding? I take it wasn't with Kyle or any of the other GLs from Earth. [how does that even work.]

What's your planet like?
[Having been in space all of maybe four times, he's interested]

That would explain why our appearances don't differ much. [She looks human enough. And from some of the stories he's heard from Kyle and Hal, that's not always the case]

And can totally get it on with other species. ]no subject
[He checks the boxes and peers inside briefly.]
Would Keeliai herbs work for both of us?

[ Which will be harder to do without her ring, but she'll manage. ]

[ She just bought... a little of everything and that tends to build up when you're not careful. ]

[He looks ahead of them and at Kyle.]
I'm sure Kyle wouldn't mind. [Meaning: whatever is between you two is between you two. He just wants to help out with these herbs so he can patch up people too.]

[ She follows his gaze, and her own expression falls slightly. ]
Even if he did, I would not let it stop me. He should remember that much.

[He's really good at catching the tiniest details; her change in expression doesn't escape him.]
Even if he doesn't, I have a feeling he'll know either way.

[ Said good-naturedly. ]
You would be right. I can see why he likes you, Connor.

[Hey something to do, something to expect. Good news to him.]
We're good friends, and he's been off world for a while. It's great to see him again, I could almost look over the fact that we're on a giant turtle.

[ She's going to work you, Connor. ]
The glowing at night ruins the illusion, or so I've noticed.
